Video Game Deals

It's probably too late then, but this morning's PS Plus update has the DMC HD collection listed for $10.49 this week for Plus members (along with a number of other Capcom game discounts).
Those are HD updates of the PS2 games.

I think you're getting confused about the titles. There's two games: Devil May Cry, the first in the series which is sometimes abbreviated as DMC, and then there's DMC: Devil May Cry, which is the newest Devil May Cry game. He's referring to the newest one.

OK, I see the source of all my confusion in this, going back to my earlier post on the Capcom collection. For some reason I was thinking DMC 4 was the newest DMC game, not realizing it's, as you said, "DMC: Devil May Cry."

Yeah it's a very stupid title when you think about it. It would be like if the next GTA was called "GTA: Grand Theft Auto" or "THPS: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater." Luckily though the bad title doesn't do much to the actual game, which is a lot of fun and very enjoyable.

I had a feeling this would happen this weekend but DMC is now 75% off. For $12.49 I'm sold.

A sign of things to come on black friday? Looks like ad "leaks" are already starting. I personally won't buy anything from Gamestop, but I'll bet other retailers will match some of these prices.

The best deal there for me is Battlefield 4 for $30. It looks like this is only for the PS3/360/PC versions of the game. I was torn between getting it for PS4 or PC but if I can pick up the retail version on PC for half the price it's an easy choice for me.

I was already leaning towards PC anyways because I want to see if this new AMD Mantle API they are hyping is the real deal or just a meaningless bullet point. BF4 is the first game to use Mantle which is designed specifically for AMD 7000 series or newer cards. They claim that they are able to get more performance out of my AMD 7850 because the game code is written specifically to take advantage of it's hardware instead of the generic code they normally use to ensure compatibility between AMD and Nvidia cards. This is my understanding of it at least.

I don't know how well this will take off because it means they have to include extra programing specifically for AMD cards while Nvidia has the bigger market share. This means they have to design their games to run with older AMD and Nvidia cards and then take the extra step of including Mantle support. Apparently EA has said that they are planning on using this for future Frostbite 3 Engine games as well so we will see. Activision is saying their future PC games will support it too.

I don't see myself buying a lot of console games even with these deals. Also I need to save some money. Probably just get some computer games to tide me over. I got 8 games on there with only 2 costing $40. I think I'll just enjoy the Steam Holiday Sale.

Not bad deals though. Bioshock Infinite for $20, Skyrim Complete for $30, Saint's Row 4 for $30, Deadpool (An overlooked game that I will be talking about in due time) for $20.

Just find it interesting that this has leaked for something that is over 40 days away!

I wish the Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim Complete and Borderlands 2 GOTY deals were for the PS3 as well, though I'm sure some other retailer will offer them at those prices for the PS3. Ni No Kuni for $15 is a no brainer for me, unless sales tax and shipping brings it up to the current $20 PSN price.

Surprised no one has mentioned the $30 annual PS Plus membership. That's all that anyone is talking about in my other forums. I just hope it's something anyone can grab that morning online as opposed to a limited quantity "doorbuster."

In the small print it says also on PS3 for those titles you mentioned. I can't imagine them making the deal for 360 only. I still have over a years worth of PS+ on my account right now but I am planning on picking up at least 1 or 2 of those $30 PS+ cards too. They stack so you can add a 1 year card to whatever you currently have.

I'm not a big black Friday shopper. I refuse to get up early to fight through crowds of crazy people. Sometimes I will swing by Best Buy or other stores at 11:00am or so. Most of the madness has died down by then and they usually still have the video games and Blu-rays I want in stock. In my area it's the big items like TVs that are gone right away.

Many retailers offer the same deals online too so that's even less incentive to wait outside in the freezing Michigan weather. I've never heard of GameStop being a big black Friday destination though. I have one nearby so If they aren't offering the same deals online I will swing by at a more reasonable hour after all the crazy people who waited in line are gone.

Thanks for catching that. This might be an expensive BF for me...though I sort of planned it this way, holding off on game purchases (due to backlog) knowing I'll find the best deals on BF, and online the day before, without leaving my house, as has been the case the past couple of years (though I seem to recall some gaming deals, especially at places like Walmart, being in-store only). I was hoping for better deals on Beyond 2Souls and The Last of Us, but it looks like I could have my hands full for awhile without them.

This website shows the entire GameStop BF flyer, including Vita, Nintendo, PC, and pre-owned offerings. (Pre-owned copies of FO New Vegas and LA Noire for $5 -- yowza!)

Near Steam-like deals on the PSN (especially for Plus members) over the next two weeks on zombie/horror-themed games. I know I'll at least get 400 Days DLC finally for TWD, the full season itself only $2.99 for Plus members in this sale.

I'm also tempted by Dead Island GOTY for $5, but I hear it's horribly glitchy.

Hotline: Miami is available for free for PSN+ members. If you can handle the subject manner, I HIGHLY recommend it. Very addicting gameplay.

Awesome. I already have Hotline Miami on Steam but I think that game will be a nice fit for the Vita. Indie games with solid gameplay and short missions are perfect for the Vita. It's the kind of game where you can spend 5-10 minutes with by doing a single mission while you're on the go or sink a couple hours into if you have time.

Also I saw that Resident Evil 4 HD is $5.59 for PSN+. If for some reason you haven't played this great game, GET IT NOW. Definitely the best Resident Evil game of the entire series and completely changed the survival horror game market again (although I'm not sure if it did so for the better.)

I've been hearing a lot of good things about this, though I didn't originally think it was my kind of game. But then again, the games I've liked the most from Plus were games I didn't think I would ever play. Thankfully, we are getting both the PS3 and Vita versions at the same time. It's a shared trophy list, but I'm not sure that means save file progress can be shared.

If you really want more info before delving in, check out Total Biscuit's WTF video on it..

Gone Home is 50% on Steam at $9.99. I want to play this game but even at $10 it seems overpriced to me. I think I will wait for the Holiday sale and see if I can pick it up for $5.
