Video Game Deals

If anyone wants to stock up on xbox live gold membership subscription cards:

Rakuten (formerly buy.com) has one year xbox live subscription bundle for $49.99. I usually aim for about $35 for the 1 year sub itself (but haven't been able to find that recently). I figure the extras bring it in line with that.

Includes:
12-Month Gold membership
Xbox 360 Chatpad
Xbox 360 Headset
400 Xbox Live Points

Steam is having another big sale on Tomb Raider this weekend. It's 75% off so $12.49 for the base game, $14.49 for the survival edition, and $17.49 for the Tomb Raider collection that comes with 10 games.
Yeah I saw that. Great deal, but I really don't see myself playing the most recent TR, let alone the 10 that preceded it...

Yeah. If I didn't already have it I would probably just get the base game for $12.49. I did like what I have played of it. Bioshock Infinite came out before I finished it and I never got back into it. I do plan on finishing it some day but there are a lot of games in that category for me.

Gamefly is having a big 2K sale. Lots of stuff real cheap (Spec Ops: The Line, Bioshock: Infinite, Borderlands, etc), and every game (Excluding just DLC) nets you a free copy of Mafia 2. Mafia 2 isn't exactly a GOTY candidate but you could do a hell of a lot worse. Also use the promo code GFDSEP20 for an additional 20% off.

Steam is giving out the Saints Row 4 DLC called GAT V free for one day only. I'm not sure exactly what the DLC is but it's clearly a dig at GTA V not being available on steam. The tag line says, want to buy GAT V on PC? Too bad because we made it free on Steam for one day only.

I don't own the game yet because I am still waiting for a sale. If you go to the DLC page and then click install game it gives you a message saying congratulations the DLC is now tied to your account. If you are even thinking about picking up SR4 on PC you might as well grab this DLC while it's still free.

Personally I think that doing a 50% off sale would have been a better deal and way to bring some attention away from GTA V (especially for disenfranchised PC players who are still pissed that they don't have GTA V available) than free DLC that looks like a throwaway anyways. They could have easily called it "GAT DAY" and put it on sale. Of course, at 1pm there's always the chance SR4 will come on sale, but it's looking less and less like that will happen. I'll still pick it up though.

OT, you can get the new Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution: Professional Edition, and Sleeping Dogs on Amazon for $13.99.

Also, Rainbow 6 Vegas is free for Xbox Live Gold members: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/TCs-RainbowSix-Vegas/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802555307d6

Yeah I'm still hoping for a sale on the actual game at 1:00 PM today. If it doesn't happen today I'm sure it will be soon.

If you're one of the 5 people out there that haven't played the Bioshock games yet, you'll be happy to know that now Amazon is selling all 3 games for $20 total. PC only of course, and unfortunately Bioshock 2 has Games for Windows crap to deal with. Don't make the same mistake I made and not create an account/profile, because if you do your progress won't be saved. Still, that's a small price to pay, and $20 is a small price to pay for what is arguably one of the best gaming trilogies of this console generation.

For anyone still looking to purchase a PS3 at this point, there's a great bundle at Frys.com that includes a 500 GB console, a copy of GTA V, and a 30-day trial Plus membership for $270. My brick-and-mortar Fry's store was also throwing a blu-ray remote into the bundle (YMMV).

EDIT: I just noticed this bundle is available pretty much everywhere (Amazon, Gamestop, etc.) as the new standard PS3 bundle.

Saint's Row 4 is the Amazon Gold Box deal of the day.

The PC retail version is $29.99 and the console versions are $37.49. I was waiting for a downloadable sale but I am going to jump on the retail version for $29.99. Once I get the CD Key I can link it to my steam account anyways.

All of today's lightning deals appear to be video game related too.

Edit: Turns out the downloadable version is on sale too for $36.34. I think I'll stick with my retail disc and save the $6 though.

Boy that is a tempting deal... but the fact that I have GTA 5 now is preventing me from jumping on this now. If I didn't have it I'd probably be all over SR4.

Ironically I'm playing GTA V now, but I'm literally just watching numbers. There's a stock market component that you can gain/lose money in, and if you do certain things to companies you can manipulate the market. I just offed the head of a pharmaceutical company so now I invested everything I had in their competitor. So far the return percentage is up to 16.31. As soon as it goes down I'll sell off everything, but I've already made nearly $100k in profits.
Nevermind.. just went up again. FUN TIMES!!

Be careful... Martha Stewart went to jail for insider trading. The GTA cops might show up at your GTA house looking for an explanation.

Just got my shipping confirmation email from Amazon. Amazon doesn't collect sales tax in Michigan and I have Prime shipping so my copy of SR4 will be here Thursday morning for exactly $29.99. I'm back into Mass Effect 3 now so I might still wait a little while to play it.

The Binding of Issac is $.99 on Steam right now. If you like Zelda style dungeon crawlers then this is a no brainer. Don't let the lack of native joystick support dissuade you. The game works fine with a keyboard and if you MUST have a joystick then you can download an app to do so.

NBA2K14 was released today for $29.99 on PC. This isn't really a sale because this is the every day, standard price on Steam. I'm not that into sports games anymore even though I was big time when I was in college. It was always great sitting on the couch with a friend playing against them and talking trash. I think it is pretty awesome of 2K to put this out on the same day as consoles for half the price though. Lots of multiplatform games are $49.99 on PC instead of the standard console $59.99 price. This is the first time I have seen $29.99.

NFL2K5 cost only $19.99 back in the day, and (regardless of what EA will say on the record) basically drove EA to be a bunch of d*cks and buy the NFL Exclusive rights, rather than say, compete and make a better product, which is the basis of capitalism. Ever since then the Madden series has been a stinkaroonie of stagnation and roster updates with no significant upgrades to gameplay. I'll never forgive EA for killing off what was undoubtedly the superior franchise. /end rant

Anyways you can get the game even cheaper on Green Man Gaming. $22.50 when you use offer code GMG25-W38UG-WZTBY

There's a new Indie Royale Bundle. These are all Steam Greenlight games, so you probably haven't heard of any of them. Still, they froze the minimum price at $3.49 for 6 games, with 1 to be named later.
