Video Game Deals

Gone Home is 50% on Steam at $9.99. I want to play this game but even at $10 it seems overpriced to me. I think I will wait for the Holiday sale and see if I can pick it up for $5.
I picked up a copy. $10 may be a little steep, but people were all over this game at $20. And considering it's an indie game, I'm more willing to pay a little more since I know they probably need the money more than say, an EA or Activision.

Deep Silver (Metro, Saints Row, Dead Island, etc) is having a sale on Steam this weekend. Some good deals, and I'm willing to bet you can get the Saints Row games for very cheap sometime throughout the weekend. Unfortunately though, none of the Saints Row 4 DLC is on sale. Somewhat understandable as to why, but still annoying..

Very cool. I just started playing Metro 2033 and I'm liking it so far. It has some of the most impressive lighting and graphics I have seen on my PC. I'm guessing they will do a Metro day at some point this weekend. If they do I will pick up Last Light for sure.

Still haven't gotten into that yet. I got a free copy when they did their Facebook giveaway, but something else keeps coming in the way, and since Gamefly told me that the new Batman just shipped today, it'll likely stay in an unused corner of my Steam library. Hopefully once game sharing becomes a "thing" someone else can enjoy it.

I'm ready for steam sharing to go live for the general public. It should save everyone quite a bit of money. Apparently when the beta first launched you had to actually give your friends your password and let them login to your account on their computer to authorize it. This would have been a deal breaker for me but supposedly that is fixed now. Now you can authorize computers remotely without giving out your account info.

Well it's Metro day. Metro Last Light is on sale for $15.99. At that price I'm picking it up. I'm picking up the Ranger Mode DLC for $1.99 too. If you don't have the original, Metro 2033, that is on sale for $3.74.

Steam is having a Halloween sale, which is supposed to be a sale on "creepy" games but some of their definitions of what are "creepy" games is a little loose. For example I'm not sure what makes "Sleeping Dogs" a "creepy" game unless you just have a weird view of Chinese people. Anyways it's worth looking at as there are some good deals.

It's probably considered creepy because of the Nightmare at Northpoint DLC for Sleeping Dogs, which features supernatural vampire creatures and whatnot. I just bought it during a similar PSN Halloween sale.

Yeah some of these games are a stretch for their Halloween sale but I'm all for as many discounted games as possible. I am picking up the Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 bundle for $7.49. I loved these games on 360 and I have been waiting for a Steam sale on them for a while now. I also picked up Brothers and Don't Starve for $7.49 each.

I might grab a few more later after I have time to read about some of the games. I am strongly considering the F.E.A.R Collection. That is F.E.A.R 1, 2, and 3 along with some expansions and DLC for $13.74.

I picked up Brothers as well. I think I'm also going to pick up "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream." It's one of those games I remember hearing about when I was younger being really cool, but since I wasn't big into PC gaming when it came out I never tried it. It's 50% off now. Probably also pick up "Home" since it's only $0.74. Hell arcade games nowadays are more expensive for one play.

Also, one REALLY good deal that I found was that you can get Painkiller: Black Edition for $1.99. I reviewed this game a while back and it's a really fun old school FPS. You can get the whole Painkiller package for $12, but the original is really the star of the show. You could do a HELL of a lot worse for $1.99.

Speaking of, it's sort of a weird deal. Yes you get the game for $5 which is cool, but if you want to get the big DLC package, it's $27.49 and it's a separate purchase. The game is 80% off but the DLC is only 50% off.

That sucks if each DLC isn't being sold separately. The only playable story DLC for Sleeping Dogs I know of is Nightmare at North Point, Year of the Snake, and Zodiac Tournament. Pretty much everything else is skins, costumes, vehicles, XP/money boost packs, etc. So if it's priced as it was on PSN, it would be $5 for main game plus $9.50 for those three DLCs at half price. Worth it IMO.

You can buy them all separate.

Sleeping Dogs is $5, Nightmare in North Point is $1.39, Year of the Snake is $3.49, and Zodiac Tournament is $2.49. The option he was talking about is all 25 DLC packs for $27.49.

I didn't realize how much sh*t Sleeping Dogs has for DLC. Enix is worried about losing so much money.. I'd say the first thing to do is to stop trying to nickle and dime people with crappy DLC. I assumed that as an open world game that the majority of their DLC would be added missions and such of the like. I didn't realize that's only like 1/8th of the potential content you can get. Looks like they'd benefit to release a "Complete" package like Saints Row the Third did, but
whatever.

And on a completely random note.. why do they bother putting "Sound Card Requirements" on games anymore? Is there ANYONE out there that doesn't have a sound card? Maybe 20 years ago I'd understand, but even 10 years ago that problem was basically eradicated thanks to onboard sound cards. Nowadays that carries as much weight as saying you need a viewing device of some kind to play the game. Everyone has one at this point.

Very good month for PS Plus members in November, whether you have PS4, PS3, and/or Vita:

PS4: Resogun and Contrast (it's confirmed: non-PS4 owners who have Plus can "bank" these PS4 games)
PS3: Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (full game plus expansion!); Ibb and Obb; Binary Domain (always been curious about this one)
Vita: Soul Sacrifice (are you kidding me!); Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

By the by, I started Sleeping Dogs Nightmare and Northpoint last night. It's all done very tongue-in-cheek, quite funny actually, as Wei Shen goes up against Jiang Shi and Hungry Ghost versions of his foes from the main game. Silly and over the top, but in a good way.

Soul Sacrifice on the Vita for free is great news. This is one of the Vita games I have really wanted to play but haven't gotten around to buying it. Now that it's free I will definitely play it.

Guacamelee is on sale on Steam for 50% off.

On a side note, my sister sent me a belated b-day gift of a $50 Gamestop card, which is great because with that along with my $10 credit, I can get $60 worth of Steam Wallet cards at GS. Just in time for the upcoming holiday sales. :)

I love Guacamelee. I bought the cross-buy PS3/Vita version before it was available on PC. I played it exclusively on the Vita because it performs just as well on that platform and there are lots of great games to play at home.

I am just about to cash in at least $100 of my gamestop credit for the steam holiday sale myself. I'm hoping for a 50% deal on Arkham Origins.
