Video Game Deals

I was out of town for the weekend or I would have voted for you, not that it would have been enough to make a difference.

Well the final items of this steam sale have been posted. I purchased a total of 20 games during the summer sale. Once again, I have more games than I have time to play. Unfortunately the Infinite season pass never went on sale. I plan to hold off and look for sales until the first DLC is released. If there is still no discount I will probably just buy it even though I have never paid full price for anything on my PC.

I only picked up 4 games, which I attribute mainly to A: Less bundle deals (whatever happened to publisher group discounts?) and B: Trying to save money and only get games I REALLY wanted. Of course it also didn't help that about half of the things I wanted never really went on sale (or was not greater than 25% off.) Overall I'm not really satisfied with this sale. The same games went on sale CONSTANTLY. Yes, I appreciate that consumers got a 2nd chance at various games, but did we really need to have FTL on sale like 5 different times?! Also seeing that last game I wanted losing out to Dragon's Lair was just insulting to watch. I would have been less disappointed if the other indie game had won. Then again, beggars can't really be choosers, but I do hope they fix up some of these things for the next sale, or that the competition keeps up from places like Amazon and GoG and GMG and we have other vendors making similar deals that we can all benefit from.

I really liked the sale but you already had many more PC games going in. For me almost everything offered was something I didn't own so I got to pick up lots of new stuff at great prices.

Kentucky Route Zero is the steam daily deal today. It is 50% off at $12.49. Admittedly, I don't know anything about this game but I remembered that it was one of the games you wanted from the steam sale. I'm not sure if this is a good price for it or not.

Apparently Valve heard me.. And for that I am grateful..

Didn't see that you posted this. It's on my wishlist so I get email updates from Valve and they just told me. I'll be adding it later today.

Of course I'm sure they probably figured when they saw how many people wanted this during the Steam sale that it would be a good idea to put it back up. 50% is what I wanted. Sure if I waited longer I'd likely get 75% but that probably won't be for a LONG time.

Well I just read some reviews and I have decided to pick this one up too. It sounds good and I have lots of steam credit so why not? One thing that concerned me.... The IGN review for act 2 mentioned that it didn't come out for 6 months after act 1. I really hope this isn't a sign of things to come for the final 3 acts. It was hard enough for me to wait for the Walking Dead game to release new episodes and their time frame was much tighter.

Well to be fair, this is an indie game. TWD had Telltale behind it and were using an existing engine that had been implemented in many other games. I like to think that the next chapters will be a little faster because the developer will be more familiar with how to program it. I'll buy it now but I probably won't download it until I get through DMC: DMC at least. Also I have Deadly Premonition coming in soon.

HOLY S**T..

Humble Bundle...

Pay what you want for Saint's Row 2 + 3, Risen 2, Sacred 2, and pay enough you get Dead Island GOTY as well as the Whole Package SR3...
?

Thanks for the heads up. I paid $5 and picked up everything except for Dead Island Riptide. I was tempted to pay the $25 and get that too but I am really only interested in the SR games and the Dead Island games. Given how fast both Dead Island games have dropped in price I decided to just stick with $5 and pick up Rip Tide on sale later if I really like the original.

Same here. One thing I don't like that the bundles have been doing as of late is that they bundle the Steam keys. You get 2 keys for 6 games. I'd prefer individual ones so I could give some out if I didn't want them, not to mention it's dumb that I have 1 key for SR3 and another for SR3 complete yet to get SR2 I had to redeem the key that had the bare bones SR3..

?Then again I suppose it's just another first world problem.

I would prefer I individual steam codes as well. I have to assume that steam charges 3rd parties some sort of fee to sell steam codes. It must be cheaper for them to offer 2 steam codes for 6 games than 6 steam codes. If that isn't the case I don't see why they would do it.

I'm sure steam gets their cut from amazon, humble bundle, etc.... They do host all the downloads and bandwidth isn't free.

They really just started doing it recently though. Like the Serious Sam Bundle that happened a few months ago had all the individual game keys, as well as the desktop versions of the games sold in the Android bundle. But the Telltale package had 8 games but only gave 2 keys (and one of them had 7 games, with the 8th being The Walking Dead.) I suppose it's up to the company's discretion. Humorously Gamefly is also having a Deep Silver sale, but obviously it's no where near as good of a deal to just get the Bundle. I suppose they're doing this to help build up hype for the upcoming release of SR 4 (it's literally 3 weeks away from when the sale started.

Just got a promotional email from GameStop. They are currently offering double store credit on any system trade in. It looks like my launch 20GB 360 is finally going to be retired. As a senior in high school me and a few friends waited outside a best buy in the middle of the night in a cold Michigan November to get this thing. There are still a couple 360 games I wanted to play but I have known for a while now that I would never get to them. I am holding on to my PS3 and PC for now and I couldn't pass up this deal.

My PS Plus backlog is a big reason why my PS3 isn't going in this deal too. The Walking Dead Season 2 is another one. I played Season 1 on PS3 and your choices carry over if you use the same platform. I also want to hold on to a console for gamefly rentals on all the current gen new releases including GTA V.

I'll probably be keeping my systems, even though they rarely get as much play as my PC does. Consoles still do have some exclusives and I don't feel like waiting until God Knows When to get a PC version of GTA5, although after getting the Saint's Row package that may tide me over better. It does look like R* is starting to veer the series towards more of the "silly" side of open world gaming that SR has openly embraced, as opposed to pushing it more and more towards the side of gritty realism.

Yeah console exclusives are why my PS3 isn't getting sold today too. As far as I know Microsoft doesn't have any exclusives left for 360 but Sony still has a couple left. That, GTA V, and TWD Season 2 means I will hold on to it for at least a few more months. There will probably be a few PS3/360 only games released after PS4/Xbox One are launched too.

It looks like MLB 13 The Show Home Run Derby (PS3) is now free to everyone (albeit perhaps temporarily). You can find it here on Sony's online PS Store: https://store.sonyentertainmentnetw...um=&utm_source=&utm_campaign=&emcid=CHI000004

I believe Home Run Derby is one of the game modes that is part of the full retail version of MLB 13 The Show. I totally suck at baseball video games (I can't hit), but I think I'll give this a whirl, being a huge baseball fan.

Looks like it may be F2P... it's probably more of a marketing tool to entice people to buy the full version.

FYI, the Deep Silver Humble Bundle just got better with the addition of Metro 2033, Riven, and Sacred Citadel. If you bought the bundle already and paid enough you already have these games, but if not then it may be extra incentive to spend $5, all of which can go to charity.

Yep and I already had Metro 2033 on steam so someone can have my extra copy if they want it.
