Video Game Deals

Yep and I already had Metro 2033 on steam so someone can have my extra copy if they want it.

Yeah but the thing is they're doing the "Bundle" keys again, so you're really giving away that and 2 other games.

That stinks. I thought maybe the second copy would just go into my steam inventory since I already have a copy on steam. Then I could gift or trade it. Looks like I will have to check the reviews for the other games first. Either way I will probably give it away.

If you're a reddit user you can check out http://www.reddit.com/r/RandomActsOfGaming/ and give away keys there. I've done that quite a few times.

Looks like it may be F2P... it's probably more of a marketing tool to entice people to buy the full version.

When it was released last month, it cost $5.99. I downloaded and played it last night and can confirm there is no opportunity to pay for additional content in the game, though I agree making it free was in the interests of promoting sales of the full retail version of MLB 13 The Show. In spite of being listed under "weekly deals" on the PSN website, Sony has done nothing to promote it (it wasn't even listed in the official Tuesday Store Update blog post), so there's no word if this is a permanent price change or just a "weekly deal."

This has actually been a deal for a while now, but I felt it was worth sharing here although it's not a gaming discount..

If you buy the anniversary edition of Madden 25 on PS3 or 360, you get a voucher that gives you free access to the internet feed of NFL Sunday Ticket MAX on your computer, smartphone or tablet. It comes with a redeemable code that gives you access to this. You're basically getting what normally costs $300 for just $100, not to mention you could always get some of your money back by selling off your copy if you're not a Madden fan.

Great deal if your favorite team is out of market, or you just have to watch every game!
I've read in the AVS forums that even though it's not advertised, and Direct will deny it if you call them to verify, this access you get to NFL Sunday Ticket is also available via the PS3 app (at least it was in the past two seasons). So you can watch directly on your main TV through the PS3.

That's nice but my computer is already hooked up to my 50" plasma, as well as my cable TV connection. So now I can basically watch my local game as well as my out of market game on the same screen at the same time..

NERDGASM!!

I wouldn't count on that. This is directly from the link yourbeliefs posted.

Can I watch NFL Sunday Ticket on my PS3 by purchasing the Anniversary Edition?

No, this only provides access to NFL Sunday Ticket on computer, tablet, and mobile devices.

Now if there was some way to actually confirm that PS3 viewing was available through this promo I would preorder right now even though I don't have much interest in Madden. If you don't mind watching on a PC or tablet as a backup I'd say go ahead and get it and you might get PS3 viewing as a pleasant surprise. The fact that it specifically says it won't work on PS3 would make me hold off if you are really counting on that feature though.

I realize it's iffy, and no one will know for sure until the season starts, but this guy on AVS Forums offered reason to be hopeful: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1430668/nfl-sunday-ticket-on-ps3-2012-reviews-thoughts/30#post_23375874

Since I live in a major metro area that televises most of my hometeam's games (except for the 2-4 that get blacked out and I couldn't get on Direct anyway), I'll just be getting Redzone again through my cable co. But if I lived out of market I would jump on this, even if it meant connecting my laptop to my TV every Sunday (which I've done to watch "offshore" streams of my local team's blacked out games).

I read through some of that and it does seem encouraging. Either way my gaming PC is always connected to my main HDTV. This would allow me to drop the sports pack from Dish that I use to get RedZone plus give me even more functionality.

Just a heads up for those planning on using a PC connected to their TV for this. I have been an MLB.tv subscriber for a couple years now. I can confirm that the streams are much better on my Apple TV, Roku, PS3, or 360 than they are on my PC connected to the TV through HDMI. You would think that these would be the same streams but they are most definitely not. Every streaming device I have tried puts the PC to shame for MLB.tv streaming. Now, this doesn't have any bearing on the NFL streaming package but I wanted to point it out in case they follow similar streaming practices. There is no reason my PC should get inferior streams from MLB.tv but it definitely does.

As someone who has used the internet stream and PS3 stream, I'd have to say they're pretty similar. I had the PS3 last year and year before and I'd say it's like watching a really good SD picture, MOSTLY. Sometimes the quality would drastically shift and it would look like watching a RealVideo full screen, but I'd say 95% of the time it was the good SD picture. Now I haven't used the computer feed in about 5 years but I recall it being pretty decent as well. Fact is you're not going to be getting HD quality streaming using the apps or the PC feed, but the point of the streaming options are to be an accessory, not your primary way of viewing NFLST. Now, for us it WILL be, but then again we're paying less by not having DirecTV at the same time.

As a 49ers Fan, NFLST sadly is a way of life for me. Granted this year I could probably get away with not having it for the most part because my team is good and thus are being shown more nationally, but then you get scenarios like week 14 where the 49ers face the Seahawks, which will likely have MAJOR NFC Playoff implications. But no, in my market they'll be showing the Giants VS The Chargers. I'd rather watch vomiting in slow motion than watch that.

To further derail this thread: If you're comparing watching Eli Manning to vomiting, then yes, I agree. But be careful what you say about my Chargers . Us fans are already suffering enough. lol

But I do feel your pain. I have a love-hate relationship with Redzone because for games when the Chargers get blacked out locally, there will be only 3-4 other games on at that same time, yet the "default" game Redzone sticks to until something Redzone-ish is happening in one of the other games is whichever game is featuring either Dallas or an East Coast team, the game I can already watch live on the networks. :(

No I'm comparing being forced to watch a game I don't give 2 sh*ts about while a game that is of the utmost importance is on elsewhere but unavailable to me because of where I'm living.

Anyways back to deals. You can get Max Payne 3 for the 360 for $10 on Newegg. You can also get it on the PS3, but the 360 version has free shipping.

Tons of sales on Max Payne 3 lately. It is on sale right now on the PSN store for digital download too. $7.99 for PS+ members or $9.99 for everyone else. The Ultimate Edition is on sale too but it isn't really clear exactly what is included. That edition is $11.99 for PS+ members or $14.99 for everyone else.

On Steam you can get Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition and Shadow Warrior: Redux (which are basically the originals with updated visuals, added content packs, Steam Achievements, and apparently online multiplayer) for $5.10. For me, if DN3D has multiplayer that people are playing, then I'm all in. I LOVED playing DN3D online back in the day. That was back in the day when you played online and you had to play to accommodate the lag.

UPDATE: Duke Nukem does NOT have native multiplayer support yet... wish they had clarified that better in the description..

I wouldn't be surprised if Max Payne 3 comes to Plus in the next few months. That seems to be the pattern (at least with some of the games I've bought on sale :(): offer a game that came out in the past year or so at a ridiculously low price (<$10), and then offer it free a few months later. That was the case for LBP Karting, Sleeping Dogs, and Deus Ex, to only mention a few full retail titles.

Gamefly is having a big sale on Square Enix games, including the new Tomb Raider for $9.99 (with discount). Use checkout code GFDAUG20 for an additional 20% off the prices listed.

Also, another game called The Swapper went on sale at 50% off. I had this in my wishlist due to the recommendation of some other gamers and it has received numerous high scores and awards. May be worth looking at.

If the swapper had controller support I would get it. It sounds cool but I'm not fast enough with my wireless mouse and keyboard from my couch to play most games that require it. The only time I am comfortable with a mouse and keyboard is in game likes Civ V.
