Video Game Deals

I picked up a copy of Fez also. When the game came out I just waited for a price drop. I was hoping for more than 50% but at this point I'll take it.

I'm REALLY hoping for a big discount on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, as well as Kentucky Route 0. Also a discount on the Bioshock Infinite Season Pass would be nice.

I have to say, these sales also tend to introduce some stuff you never knew existed on Steam, or PC gaming in general. Hell I would have NEVER guessed that the Ys Chronicles were available on PC. Not that I want them, but it's interesting to learn that.

I want the Bioshock Season Pass too. I was surprised to see it wasn't on sale at the same time as the game.

Some people have created a site to help organize all the Steam sales: http://steamdb.info/sales/

Also it looks like Amazon is stepping up their game and is price matching a number of the Steam sales, AND you can get an extra 15% off if you use the promo code "GOONCAVE"

Thanks for the heads up on this. I got word that my new PC is ready to go. So I ordered a monitor from newegg yesterday and picked up several games from Amazon and Steam today. Looking forward to benefiting from the reduced pricing of PC games.

Actually something weird was going on at the beginning of the Steam sale where depending on when you were there, it would or wouldn't be on sale. I saw it for 50% off and tried to get it but Steam was getting hammered at the time and then when I tried to check out they told me the price went back up.

Also it looks like that "gifting" thing I suggested for getting Steam keys may not be how to get them. Someone told me that was how it was done but I tried to test it myself and maybe I did it wrong but I got no key, and instead just got the game as an option to trade or install myself.

Well I'll be looking for it to go on sale again. I would also jump on Prototype 1 and 2 if I see them for a decent price.

So far today I have picked up Super Meat Boy, Darksiders 2, and L.A. Noire. I also picked up the Dragon Age Bundle for $12.49 from gamefly. I already owned Dragon Age 1 but the bundle was cheaper than buying DA2 by itself.

Well I've already bought to many games in the steam sale to list. Today's biggest steals for me were Dishonored for $10.19 and The Knife of Dunwall DLC for $3.39. This is a game I have been meaning to play since it released and I haven't seen better pricing than this. I'm about 4 hours in and liking it so far.

I've been rather stingy this time around simply because I have SO many games that I can't justify constantly adding games to my list. Also my financial situation isn't helping either. I was tempted to get the Tomb Raider package for ~$18, but I asked myself, "Why do you need EVERY Tomb Raider game? Are you REALLY going to go back and play a game like Tomb Raider 2? And when do you see yourself fitting the NEW TR in your schedule?"
Basically now I just keep checking back to see if one of my wishlist games go on sale. One did (FEZ) which I picked up and am enjoying quite a bit. My other stuff is discounted but I'm not going to buy for 25% knowing that if I hold out it'll likely go on sale to a higher amount.

I wouldn't get the Tomb Raider collection either. Tomb Raider is up for a community vote for $12.50 again though. I would definitely pick it up at that price. I don't think it's all that likely but I'm hoping that Skyrim beats out TR and Infinite because I already have the other two games.

Apparently you can get the Season Pass for Infinite for 30% off at Green Man Gaming (along with a bunch of other games as well). Use the promo code

I think I'll hold out until the last day of the steam sale to see if they offer something better. If some of the DLC had already been released I would be in a bigger hurry but since it hasn't there is no rush for me.

There are some pretty decent sales today. I picked up Skyrim Legendary Edition for $35.99 and Mark of the Ninja for $3.74. I would have liked a better price for Skyrim but I want to play it and I figured that was probably as low as it will get until the Winter sale.

I'm not really interested in Assassins Creed III but they have it for the lowest price I have seen so far at $23.99. Here are some of today's other highlights in my opinion. DMC is $24.99, Sleeping Dogs $6.24, Crysis 2 $8.99, and Alan Wake for $2.99.

For my interests, I think today might have been the best day of sales so far. We'll see what the 9:00pm flash sales are.

I think I may pick up DMC, as it's been awhile since I've played a balls to the wall action hack and slasher.

Still waiting on Blood Dragon. Hopefully it'll be part of today's sale.

Update: It's not... BOO!

Someone on Reddit figured out how to predict the next deal of the day (or at least the ones from those postcards.) According to it, the next sale will be something to do with Torchlight.

Cool. That's nice to know going forward. I really want to play DMC and the PC videos of it look great. I think it's a pretty good deal right now but I will probably hold off and get it from gamefly. It just seems like one of those games that I will spend 8 or 9 hours with to beat the campaign and never touch it again. I would like to play it with the best framerate and graphics possible but it seems to fit better as a rental for me.

Now if it were dropped down to somewhere around $10 I would jump all over it. I still think $25 is a very good price for a full retail game of it's age though.

Here's your chance for Blood Dragon. It is one of the daily deals for $8.99.

Yeah I saw that. Looks like 40% off is as good as it's going to get. I'll buy that and Deus EX later today as I need to convert some of my Gamestop credit to Steam credits first. BTW I STILL can't wrap my head around the fact that I can sell my console games and put it towards credits for another, better, COMPETING game service.

UGH... I gotta sign up for uPlay...

uPlay isn't that bad. It pops up for a second every time I launch Far Cry 3 from steam. I get no benefit from it but it isn't as much of a pain as origin is for Battlefield 3 either.

I hear you on selling used games. They are doing a 50% bonus on trade ins right now. I took that opportunity to trade in all my PS3 and 360 games that I'm done with so I wouldn't have a shelf of disks I'll never touch again once the new consoles come out.

I got about $490 worth of trade in credit but I wasn't aware I could buy steam credit with it. That would have been nice to know before I bought all these sale games. Knowing how much they rip you off on trade-ins makes me feel sick thinking about how much I must have paid for those games. I'm thinking about trading in my 360 on the last day of this promotion too but I still have a few 360 games to finish. I'd like to beat Halo 4 and then get rid of it and just hold on to my PS3 and PC.

I NEVER trade in stuff to GS unless they're doing a credit sale. When I saw that A: You get 50% more and B: You can convert them to Steam Wallet I was sold (no pun intended.) I sold about 7 games and got around $80. I got $40 worth of Steam Credits for now to use on the sale and others in the future.
Also, as far as uPlay goes, I already hate it because the goddamn thing doesn't work. It says it's down, meaning I can't log in to play the games that I paid for and want to play!!! Seriously, game "services" like uPlay should be fined $50 per gamer that tries to log in per hour while they are down. I bet you we wouldn't run into crap like this anymore. They'd have better uptime stats than Steam.

Update on the uPlay situation: Apparently it was my own fault. I didn't realize I had PeerBlock running at the time which was probably blocking off the ports the program needed. I just tried to login again and it didn't work, but then I disabled PB and it ran fine. I am a dolt.. Still, I do stand by my thoughts about what should happen to these "DRM Shops" if they have problems. Hopefully I'll get to try BD out sometime this weekend.

Yeah, the double DRM is a little silly. I launch Far Cry 3 from Steam but that launches uPlay first, which is basically a white colored ripoff of the steam application I was already using. Still it doesn't take much extra time and it doesn't seem to slow my computer down any.

The game I can't stand is Battlefield 3 on Origin. Not only do you have to run origin but when you launch BF3 it opens your web browser instead of launching the game. You then have to use their clunky battlnet website to launch multiplayer or single player. Single player launches for me and I realize I was late on this game for the PC side but I have never gotten the multiplayer to launch successfully. It just hangs up for a while and then times out. That is the first game I have played that I actually prefer the console version.

Can all steam members reading this please do me a favor? Please vote for Kentucky Route Zero to be the next game to go on sale? It's literally one of the 4 games I've wanted to go on sale during this and it can go for 50% off if it goes. The other 2 are Dragon's Lair and EvoLand (an old school looking RPG to throw on the innumerable pile of such) so it's not like voting for KRZ is taking away a better alternative.

Thanks.

Well..... Dragon's Lair, a game that's been out for THIRTY YEARS and holds the record for GAME ON THE MOST PLATFORMS beat out my game and another indie game.. by 3% (Kentucky Route Zero came in 3rd.) I think this encompasses my reaction pretty well:
