For those of you who thinks we delete posts or threads just because, just ask James Long how he moderates. At least we give you the freedom to post your opinions even if we don't agree with them.

I have never posted here and I don't lurk here very much since I personally find the ads annoying.
anyway, I thought that I would chime in because a couple of days ago a friend of mine was banned from this site for posting his opinion. Wasn't anything very bad but I think is said something about "information regurgitation" and "posers".
That's it.. Also the following appeared when he tried to log in:

Date the ban will be lifted: Never
Now that is censorship.
I would be very surprised if this happened without merrit. Either way the message is unprofessional.
Can you tell me what his username was? I will look and see who and why he was banned. That doesn't sound like anything we would do here. Usually we ban people for either spamming or hack talk, or just blatantly violating the rules, which we warn them several times before doing so.
Yep, the only other thing that I can think of that would get a person banned is if they were blatantly flaming and trying to add fuel to the fire. There are certain areas that flaming is more relaxed than others, but we generally like to keep it out of the main forums and keep that stuff in the pit. The reason behind that is that way if users wants to see it, its there, but at the same time its not clogging up the main forums.
Please have your friend visit the site again and take a screenshot of this. I'm not sure if I believe it or not.... If it's true, it would be interesting to see what happens to the staff member who did this.
To be honest, I'll bet there's a way to list banned users via vBulletin and it's probably sort-able. Has anyone been banned in the past 4-5 days ? Or, do a fair # get banned daily (spammers, hackers, etc) ?

I saw the screen myself, I logged in with it a couple of times after the ban, logged in and did a copy/past of that text in my previous post.
Yes, The post was questionable, it was emotional, it deserved a smack on the hand.
but a ban... not so sure.
I'm not going to try the login again, because it was tough to get a new IP to be able to log in.
besides, the admin will probably delete it now for CYA purposes.

I just went through the logs and havent seen anything for the past 3 days.
vBulletin shows you everone who was banned (and there are over 1000 there that have been banned mostly for hack talk by Iceberg) but it does not sort by date or anything
Nobody is deleting anything to CYA.
We're looking into it and will address it as appropriate. Typically we only ban people for spam, hacking, or significant violation of rules, and give warnings first. We're about the hardest forum online to get banned from. You actually have to try!

Where is the CE stuff located in the Forum. When I click on Member Map (NEW) it says I don't have permission. Does that tab not work for everyone? Thanks
