The Road to SuperBowl XLIV: The Official 2010 NFL Playoffs Thread

Congratulation's to the Colts & Saints for advancing. No need to hang your heads low Jets/Vikes fans. Your teams had great seasons too.

As for Favre, I hate to see him go out like that. An interception in what may very well be the final play of his career? This wasn't how the story was supposed to end. They needed just a few more yards to give Longwell an attempt at winning the game! Ugh! I know there was plenty other reasons why the Vikings lost yesterday, but Favre will be replaying that last play in his head for the rest of his life. Poor Brett. :(

He's FAR from Poor !

Brett made several mistakes on that last play.
He had a wide open Chester Taylor in the flat that would have given him the yardage they needed.
He could have RUN the ball for 10-15 yards......

And if we include what Sanchez did in the playoffs, say goodnight to any comparison. That's also part of his rookie season. ;)

Russell has never give anyone any indication that he could even make the playoffs, let alone come up big in them.

Hey Sandra,
How ya gonna feel if the Jets DON'T make the playoffs and Sanchez has a so so avg year next year ?

Next year the rest of the NFL will have a book on him and probably defend differently.
He had a very good year, but he also struggled in the middle of the season.
He was SanCHISE in the beginning and probably the end, but they called him something else entirely in the middle of the season.

they will also have a tougher schedule.

What part of the Jets had a much better team do you not understand? IF you would have put Brady under center in Oakland, he would have done terrible or much worse....been decapitated. IT was clear when Gradkowski started and lasted all of what? 3 games...OUT for the season. Frye was running for his dear life. And BARELY survived the season.

The Jets were a BETTER all around team than the Raiders. Hell, the 38-0 ass whipping they gave the Raiders proved it.

Sanchez's play did not lead them into the playoffs....being the #1 ranked defense and #1 ranked running game did. You do not do that with sh!tty players....

Excellent point, it wasn't just Sanchez, mostly a great Running game takes pressure off the young kid and knowing that he had a top D to help out if he did make any mistakes certainly helped him.

Almost sounds like they took the book on how to build the team right off the Pittsburgh Steelers mantel.

Sanchez played like Big Ben did his first year.
Let's see if Sanchez can continue to progress like Ben has.

After watching Manning play against the Jets the way he did, I ask this: how was he able to do what Carson Palmer and Philip Rivers couldn't?

The Jets muzzled two quality QB's in the postseason and played well against Peyton in the first half before Manning activated Beast Mode in the second half.

Peyton and company did a great thing at during the game, IN GAME adjustments.

They went from a 5-7 step drop, which the Jets were getting to him with to a 3 step drop, when the Jets continued to blitz, it left open recvrs and less people back to tackle the recvrs at that point.

Jesus lady....from the beginning...I stated the
1st 15 start. And if you compare individual state,
THE 15 start...JaMarcus had slightly better stats.
IF JaMarcus had THAT team his 1st 15 starts, he
TOO might have made the playoffs. Tell me something....
IF Sanchez would have been on the Raiders, do you think
HE could have lead THAT team to the playoffs...?!
LOL....you don't even have to think the answer through,
It is a resounding NO!

Jimbo.....I did not say I would take him.....please where I did...!!!!!
AGAIN.....I stated that after BOTHS QBs 1st 15 starts, they both had similar stats.
JaMarcus had slightly better INDIVIDUAL STATS......

The difference between the team that JaMarcus had is 1st 15 starts and
Sanchez's is that the JETS are a MUCH better team.

Sorry Salsa,
When I got home last night (most nights) I go back and read the last 5-10 pages, in that time I got the impression that , thats what had been said originally. (that you were saying that Russell was better than Sanchez)

As I also pointed out that Sanchez could have a much different next season as everyone will, have the info on him.

because he's peyton manning. he's a better qb period. and may be the best in the NFL today. that's like asking for what team is archie manning going to cheer for in the superbowl  come on!! and don't tell me about his weapons cause rivers has plenty of them ;)

Hey guys and gals you really need to take the discussion about Sanchez and Russell somewhere else and quit jamming up the Playoff discussion area.

Excellent point, Ramy. Jamarcus Russell, one of the worst QB's in the NFL, does not belong ANYWHERE NEAR a playoff thread discussion. :up ;)

The sad thing for us Bolts fans is that Rivers and the Chargers have Manning's number (5-1 in the last 6 games as I remember), but F'd up the chance to get to that game. It wasn't the Jets that were overconfident, it was the Bolts.

Sanchez looks like he'll be a pretty good QB, he's shown much more to prove that point than any other. Dude has got to learn to play in cold weather if he's going to have a chance to live up to the Sanchise hype though.

And yeah, that 40 or so yard pass to Braylon would have landed out of bounds if it were thrown by JaMarcus.

Sanchez already passed his first cold weather test with flying colors. The game in Cincinnati had a game time temperature of 20 degrees, with wind chill in the single digits. And it went down from there.

And it was a PLAYOFF game! ;)

Dude went 12-15, for 182 yards, 1 TD, 0 Int. Passer rating of 139.4.

Hopefully his next cold weather test comes in Meadowlands Stadium in January 2011! :)

Actually, that is how his career should have ended, only it should have been two years ago after he did it against the Giants, in almost the exact same situation...

Easy - he's Peyton Manning, and they're not....

Peyton had a really hard time in certain situations (big games) and against certain teams early in his career, but I'm to the point now that I don't doubt him anymore. He's entered the realm of Montana, Elway and Marino in at least one way: you always feel like if you give him the chance to beat you, he will.
