The Road to SuperBowl XLIV: The Official 2010 NFL Playoffs Thread

You do realize that the Saints and Vikings also have this exact same stuff available for pre-order, right? In fact, none of the 3 teams own or run these particular websites. They're run by some company called Sports Avenue. All these sites, plus the gear, are identical. They have a license to sell gear with most of the NFL teams. Apparently, the Colts aren't one of them. This is nothing new and done all the time. I wouldn't read anything into this. In fact, if the Colts need something like this for motivation, they're already in trouble.

The Colts couldn't care less what anyone says, does, or puts on their website, which is one of the things that makes them a great team....

As far as the shirts go, you're right - it's not a big deal - I am just so tired of the Jets' made-up attitudes... I guess it's just the difference in "culture." I'm sure New Yorkers love it, but I prefer the quiet, business-like Colts (except when it seems like they're too quiet and business-like and they're getting bounced by the likes of Tedy Bruschi and Philip Rivers... :) )

This is no joke. I am just reporting the news. I couldn't make this up if I tried....

If the Jets win Sunday, Eatapus Rex will get a seat in the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest!

Oh, great! This is all the motivation Ryan needs. (Official invite below.)

I never thought I would say this, but there is a very good chance the Jets will take over this city's football landscape for a long time. And it's because of Rex Ryan.

I'm not just saying that because the Jets are in the AFC championship game and the Giants are long gone, I mean this can transcend the teams' records from year to year. The Giants are way up on the food chain of NY sports, and the Jets have a chance to pass them.

Eric Mangini he ain't! :D

Colts 23-10. Too much Peyton. How ironic will it be if the Colts are up by three scores or more in the fourth quarter, and they pull their starters? :D

I'll be watching the game with my 12 year old nephew, a huge Colts and Peyton Manning fan. Purposely bringing him here, as he wants to watch with Aunt Sandy, and if he goes to one of my brother's houses where the family will be watching the game, the Jet fans (including his father) will torture him if the Jets win.

Don't want him to go through that. It will be bad enough to see the hurt in his eyes if his Colts let him down. If the Colts win, I'll still have the pleasure of watching him enjoy it through his eyes.

The Jets are totally playing with house money now. They are way ahead of schedule. At this point even a blowout loss will not take away from the invaluable experience the youngsters (including the coach) have received by winning two road playoff games.

How can a family of Jets fans have a 12 year old Colts fan? If I would have cheered for a team other than the Browns when I was 12, my older siblings would have beat some sense into me! :D

Well, he has two younger sisters, they're not going to beat him up just yet. They do annoy the heck out of him, but it has nothing to do with football! The torturous ones are MY brothers, although the other nephews in the family are all Jet fans.

Here is something scary...

In 2008, JaMarcus Russell completed 198 of 368 passes for 2,423 yards and 13 TDs (with 8 INTs). This season, Sanchez went 196-for-364 for 2,444 yards, 12 TDs and 20 INTs. Their completion percentages were identical (): both at 53.8 percent. Russell started 15 games at age 23 in 2008; Sanchez started 15 games at age 23 in 2009. The biggest difference is in interceptions, where Sanchez was significantly worse, throwing 20 interceptions to Russell’s eight.

And they were both backup QBs on the USC/LSU 2003 co-championship teams. Kind of reminds me of that Kennedy / Lincoln comparison they used to talk about. Freaky! :D

One other difference...Sanchez has two road playoff victories under his belt, while there is a pretty good chance Russell will never SEE the playoffs! ;)

Well, the Jets have a better team right now. As far as ever seeing a playoff win, you could be right. But then again, nothing is certain, this might be the last time the Jets make the playoffs. One never knows in this league. Look at the Dolphins, they won the division last year with 11 wins. This year, only did they not win the dvision or make the playoffs, they could not get to .500.

Indy vs. Minny

Mark it down. 2009-2010 will be known as the year of the Quarterback. What better way to end the season with a battle between two of the greatest from our generation: Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. Wow. I can't wait!

well sanchez isn't the real reason the jets are in the playoffs but i guess we can agree that right now at this moment most may rather have sanchez over russell. the real positive about this kid is his great attitude. you can tell he's giving it all. i have yet to see that from J R .

Personally, I'll take Sanchez over Russel.

My conference title game picks:

Colts over Jets- Indy's a better team. Yes, the Jets run the ball well, but we saw what happened to Baltimore last week- Ray Rice was bottled up. Indy does pretty well against the run. These Jets are similar to the Ravens. Indy has too many weapons to cover- Revis can't cover more than one guy. Sanchez didn't impress me last week- IMO, they won in spite og him (aside from his TD pass). I think Indy will prevail.

Saints over Vikings- The Superdome is hard for even the best quarterbacks to prevail in. New Orleans has so many guys to use on offense, plus Peterson has not established his willpower. I also think Favre could have a few bad plays. I think this'll be a great game- both teams will score at least 30.

Colts over Jets
Saints over Vikings.

I'll probably be rooting for the Jets to win, and for the Saints. Manning vs Favre would be pretty epic, media will explode. Really don't care much about the NFC side, though if all the QBs I think Brees needs it the most.

Jets 19, Colts 16- the difference will be a return for a TD (defense or special teams)..........just a gut I have.....................Jets in first Super Bowl in 41 years!!!

Saints 31, Vikings 23- N.O. just has too many weapons, and the Saints have a HUGE homefield advantage.............Saints first SB ever!!!
