The Road to SuperBowl XLIV: The Official 2010 NFL Playoffs Thread

The problem is that the NFL is trying to get fans to care about it by putting it before the Super Bowl. I guess now there's a football game to fill that void during the bye week, so more people probably will watch it, but will we care? Heck, no - especially without one or two (or three?) of the game's best quarterbacks (Favre, Brees, Manning) not there. Next thing you know, we'll be hearing "this one counts!" and they'll be using it to decide who gets to wear the home jerseys for the Super Bowl... ;)

They should just leave it the way it was - rewarding the players who make it with a trip to Hawaii in February.
The game is back in Hawaii in 2011.

good...thats where it should be

I agree. What will happen this year if a whole bunch of players from the losing teams pull out at the last minute? I'm sure they accounted for the Super Bowl teams not participating, but do they have enough if players from the losing teams also decide not to play?

They always do, yeah. A handful of players pull out, it's just kinda rough doing it the week after the last 2 hopeful Super Bowl Bound teams are eliminated, wounds are still pretty fresh.

The difference is this year they'll definitely lose players from two teams, probably players from four teams...on top of the normal handful of players that pull out every year.

Nah, the AFC/NFC losers will be there I'm sure barring injuries. Only upheaval with the rosters that would happen is if the Vikings make it to the Super Bowl, that's 10 more players that suddenly make the pro bowl roster. The payroll for the game is probably going to be the biggest ever since the Super Bowl participants still get paid for playing in the game if they come and participate in the pre-game.

Would be interesting to see a several-player-deep depth chart for the positions to see who's on the bubble if certain teams make it to the Super Bowl.

This just in: Frank Gore will be taking the place of Stephen Jackson. The NFC Running Backs are down to their 3rd alternate. This could get laughable if AP and the Vikings make the Super Bowl.

they should eliminate this game. most don't care for it anymore. make the probowl selection a recognition of the best players for each conference that season and that's it. awards similar to the mvp or the off/def player of the year. get rid of the game.

Did the Jets Store Jinx Itself Out of Business?

This is typical of the kind of idiocy coming out of Jet-land this week.

Another example is in this article on the Star's website about the Jets playing with a "chip on their shoulder" because the Colts supposedly disrespected them, even though none of them can point to anything that the Colts actually said in that regard.

Rex Ryan has to love it - I guess he's been feeding them this "us against the world" stuff for so long that they're making things up to keep it going.

You may be able to "pre-order" the gear, but if the Jets don't win, all you will get is your money back, if you're lucky!!!...:p

Here's a link to a story we did on our noon news today:

Workers Jump Gun On Colts Championship Gear - Indiana News Story - WRTV Indianapolis

The loser's gear will be recalled before it can be sold and given to an NFL chairity to be distributed to third world countries. Adidas did not know if any of the gear would be sent to Haiti...:wave

I am done criticizing Rex Ryan's motivational techniques. One thing to remember...he never disparages the other team. He only pumps up his own team.

I LOVE what he said right after the Jets beat the Chargers, when he was asked about Indy..

"I know it's not the matchup everyone wanted, but too bad...we're coming!!!

This is the kind of coach guys love to play for.

Except that you can order the same stuff for the Colts too... keep hating though! :)

yep. this is nothing new. didn't someone do something similar for the pats with gear that mentioned 19-0? and others have done the same. nothing new

Gotta love that ..... So the Third world country WON'T know who REALLY won ?

You do realize that the Saints and Vikings also have this exact same stuff available for pre-order, right? In fact, none of the 3 teams own or run these particular websites. They're run by some company called Sports Avenue. All these sites, plus the gear, are identical. They have a license to sell gear with most of the NFL teams. Apparently, the Colts aren't one of them. This is nothing new and done all the time. I wouldn't read anything into this. In fact, if the Colts need something like this for motivation, they're already in trouble.

This is no joke. I am just reporting the news. I couldn't make this up if I tried....

If the Jets win Sunday, Eatapus Rex will get a seat in the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest!

Oh, great! This is all the motivation Ryan needs. (Official invite below.)
