The Road to SuperBowl XLIV: The Official 2010 NFL Playoffs Thread

No, you punt into the endzone and it's a net punt if about 10 yards. Miss a FG and it's a 17 yard loss, make a FG and you still lose to a TD. Going for it on 4th was the right call even if they don't get it.
yeah i agreed with the call. either way i think they would've been ok if it's short

I agree about the FG. That shouldn't have even been considered by the Jets.

1. Like you said, if they miss it, the ball is spotted from the miss

and

2. If they make, then the Chargers need a TD to win with about 1:05 left. If I'm a Jets fan, I'd be more nervous if a FG attempt by the Chargers was taken out of the equation.

This is how Charger fans are feeling:

Just heard this on Mike and Mike:

The last three seasons, there's been 12 different teams playing on Championship Sunday.

2 years ago: Chargers-Patriots and Giants-Packers

Last year: Ravens-Steelers and Eagles-Cardinals

This year: Jets-Colts and Vikings-Saints

Now THAT'S parity!!!

A 7-8 playoff record speaks for itself.

0-3 when they are the #1 seed.

Wow, talk about Hart's worst football nightmare...either the Jets are going to the Super Bowl, or Peyton is going to the Super Bowl...again! More validation for his Hall of Fame, one-of-the-best-QB's-of-all-time career.

If you've been putting off cleaning out the garage or something you may want to do it this coming Sunday at 3PM! ;) :D

No I'll take my medicine, I'll be watching the Colts go to the Superbowl by beating the 5th seed the week after beating the 6th seed.

The outcome will most likely be a repeat of the 1990 AFC championship game.

The Jets have had a nice season, kind of reminds me of the 1995 Colts.

Good luck Sunday!:up

BTW, I already have one of them on my team.

If the Jets defeat the Colts on Sunday, it will be ironic for many reasons:

1. It will be the first Jets Super Bowl berth since SB III (aka the game that put the AFL on the map). The Jets pulled off the biggest upset in SB history by beating...................the Colts

2. Just two seasons later the AFL and NFL merged, and the Colts joined the Jets in the newly formed AFC East. The two teams remained divisional rivals (and played each other twice a year) until the Colts moved to the newly formed AFC South before the 2002 season.

3. The well documented (including this site ;)) week 16 game in Indy. I won't even get into the details since everyone knows them all to well.

For the record, I'm a believer that the Jets won that game fair and square. You've all seen the Jets defense the last three weeks. You're gonna tell me that they didn't have a chance to at least slow down Peyton Manning?

I guess we're all gonna get a chance to see that answer this Sunday..........which to me is the biggest irony of all! ;)

1) Much is being made of Kieth Brooking and the Dallas Cowboys being "showed up" by a last second TD by the Vikings in a 34-3 win. I'm all about sportsmanship, but I don't think anyone was trying to show anyone up. The Vikings just couldn't be stopped. If they were so concerned about getting their feelings hurt, maybe they should've put up a better fight.

2) I know Tony Romo turns into a Pumpkin in the playoffs and his 3 turnovers (2 fumbles, 1 interception) didn't help silence the critics, but, there was just no beating that Viking defense yesterday. Of all the teams that played over the weekend, I came away most impressed by the Vikings. They are dominant on both sides of the ball.

3) Old #4 did it again! For everything Favre puts us through in the offseason, he sure is making it up to us in the playoffs. This is shaping up to be one of the greatest plot-lines in his storied career. But regardless of how Brett Favre's story ends, I am inspired by the honest to goodness enthusiasm he still has for the game. Go Brett!

4) In the snooze fest that was the Colts vs. Ravens, the Colts defense did show me something in holding Ray Rice to just 67 yards rushing. They'll need the same effort against the Jet's run game next week.

5) If the Jets beat the Colts next week, woudn't it be supreme karmic retribution to Jim Caldwell for pulling his starters Week 16, thus giving the Jets a chance to make the playoffs in the first place? The Jets are NOT a team anyone wants to be facing right now.

Totally agree. I'd like to see him take it all the way. :up

Personally I don't care if they were trying to run up the score or not. These are professionals, there will be a chance for payback. In the college game, however, I detest coaches running up the score.

It did seem like a jailbreak on every snap. Romo was always running for his life.

Gotta give him credit, he played marvelous yesterday.

They can do it. The Colts front 7 are better than the Chargers front 7.

This game matches the league's loudest coach against the quietest. I'm sure I've heard it on Inside the NFL, but I don't even remember what Jim Caldwell's voice sounds like.

Not what I expected yesterday. The Chargers and the Cowboys were taken completely out of their offenses. I love defense, but a Jets / Vikings Superbowl would certainly go down as a major snoozefest.
