The CW has unveiled a first look at Teddy Sears as classic Speedster Jay Garrick — and appropriately the image pays homage to the comics.The image features Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) running alongside Jay, with the two actors recreating the cover to the 1961 "Flash of Two Worlds" storyline, which first introduced Earth-Two, an alternate Earth that is a mainstay of DC Comics mythology. Other new faces for season two include Keiynan Lonsdale as speedster Wally West, sci-fi veteran Michael Ironside as the abusive father to Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller).

The Flash is following up on a casual namedrop over a year after it was first heard. When Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow appeared in the Arrow Season 2 episode “The Man Under the Hood,” the latter mentioned a Dr. Light as an ex-S.T.A.R. Labs employee who was “a psycho.” At the time, that was simply a fun Easter Egg for hardcore comic book fans, but now The Flash will be introducing a metahuman version of Doctor Light in Season 2, though whether it’s the same one previously mentioned is unclear.

Fans of The CW’s Arrow may recall back in season 2 when Doctor Light was mentioned as an ex-S.T.A.R. Labs employee in the episode “The Man under the Hood.” Now, we have word that he she will be appearing on the second season of The Flash.The character was originally a male supervillian in the DC Comics universe, but was re-introduced as a female hero named Kimiyo Hoshi in Crisis On Infinite Earths back in 1985.In the comics, Hoshi was a brilliant scientist (there’s the S.T.A.R. Labs connection) who received her photonic powers after being blasted by the Anti-Monitor. From there, she put her abilities to good use as a member of the Birds of Prey and the Justice League, among other teams.Obviously, we’ll have to wait and see how she’s introduced on the show, but with so many bad guys gunning for Barry now, let’s hope they bring her in as some backup!The Flash returns this October to The CW.

Translating some of DC Comics’ most iconic villains from the page to the screen is always daunting for the creative team behind “The Flash.” But none more so than Grodd, an 800-lb. gorilla with psychic abilities and genius intellect who goes toe-to-toe with the CW show’s super-powered hero just as believably as the series’ human antagonists.“Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” and Peter Jackson’s “King Kong” have raised expectations for viewers accustomed to seeing photo-real creatures on screen, and yet “Flash” visual effects supervisor Armen Kevorkian and his team at Encore Hollywood eschewed the motion-capture approach utilized by those blockbusters in favor of computer animation.“We start from scratch — that way we have total control,” Kevorkian says. “We have some really talented animators here and it was just a matter of me demonstrating what I thought the scene needed, what the shot needed, and going through different versions until we got to where we got to, even with the facial expressions.”Although Kevorkian’s team consulted videos of real-life apes for inspiration, Grodd’s more human attributes altered their approach. “A lot of times, you realize that even if you reference a real gorilla, it doesn’t work for the character that you’re establishing here — you have to take creative license in his actions, his attitude,” Kevorkian notes.

The CW has released a very brief teaser trailer for the upcoming second season of its DC superhero TV show, The Flash. However, the ten second video does provide us with our first proper look at a DC Comics villain making their debut on the show this upcoming season, as well as a new Flash gadget that is bound to raise a few eyebrows.The super-powered antagonist whom Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) faces off with – in the above “Bigger, Badder and Faster” teaser – is none other than DC baddie Atom Smasher. The role on the show will be played by former WWE Superstar Adam “Edge” Copeland and will make his debut in the Flash season two premiere episode (titled “The Man Who Saved Central City”).

Keiynan Lonsdale began acting only three years ago in his native Australia, but has already landed a couple of high profile Hollywood gigs.He plays fan-favorite Uriah in Lionsgate’s “Divergent” franchise opposite Shailene Woodley, and recently wrapped up filming on the YA adaptation’s two-part finale, “Allegiant.” He also recently landed the role of Wally West on The CW’s “The Flash.”The character is a pivotal transfer from the pages of the DC comic books, and has been teased by producers since the very start of the show. Lonsdale will be a series regular when the show returns for its second season in October, joining Grant Gustin as Barry Allen aka The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West and Tom Cavanagh as Harrison Wells, who is also the Reverse-Flash, The Flash’s ultimate nemesis.

New The Flash Images Tease New Season Storylines

Meanwhile, in Central City, the celebration of Reverse Flash’s defeat was short-lived, as a black hole opened up, threatening to destroy the city and, indeed, the entire world. These were big moments with which to conclude seasons, one that left fans wondering just what was in store for the next year.Thanks to two new images released today, we have a small idea of what’s to come. Though we’re still over a month away from the season 4 premiere of Arrow and the season 2 premiere of The Flash, the pair of images gives us a bit of insight into what to expect in their respective seasons. The Flash, meanwhile, is picking up the story about six months after the black hole threatened to destroy the world, according to The Flash himself, Grant Gustin. While this means fans won’t get immediate closure for the events that rocked the season 1 finale, rest assured we will get our answers as Gustin also promises that “we’re going to piece together how the storm has affected everyone.” For now, we can glean that things have stayed more or less the same with the S.T.A.R. Labs crew. The newly released image shows the gang facing off against an out of frame opponent, which is about par for the course for this crime fighting team. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) stands with his gun drawn while Barry, Iris (Candice Patton), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Dr. Stein (Victor Garber), and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) stand in shock at whatever threat is facing them.Take a look at The Flash season 2 (via TV Insider):Cisco, of course, gained new powers after Barry’s meddling with time last year, possibly putting him in line for his transformation into the superhero Vibe, and Guggenheim has suggested that Caitlin will soon transform into the villainous Killer Frost, whom we were given a brief glimpse of in last season’s finale. This threatens to put her at odds both with The Flash team and with her husband Ronnie, who’s known these days as one half of the superhero Firestorm. Additionally, we know that Flash will have to contend with the ramifications of his time altering shenanigans and will have to face Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick at some point this season.

Next season on The Flash even more heroes and villains are descending on Central City, including Atom Smasher, Hawkman, and a slew of (possible) speedsters – Jesse Quick, Jay Garick, and Wally West. Also joining The Flash for season 2 is Doctor Light, a name given to a couple of DC Comics characters over the years and one briefly mentioned in season 1 as a former S.T.A.R. Labs employee.Only recently we learned to expect a female character called Doctor Light (Dr. Light?) to appear next season, and the fact that it’s a woman character suggests she’d be something similar to Kimiyo Hoshi, a hero and DC’s second Doctor Light (as opposed to their first, who was a villain). We don’t yet know for sure if The Flash‘s Dr. Light – which is likely to be the character’s proper given name, not a masked identity, since it’s the name Caitlin Snow referred to them by – will be strictly a hero or villain. However, given that The Flash tends to put its own spin on such comic book characters, she’ll likely be a little of both.Either way, a pair of set photos (via Canadagraphs) confirm that there is in fact a new female character on The Flash next season, she has a superhero (or villain) costume, and judging by the color scheme there’s a strong chance it’s this Doctor/Dr. Light. Early next year The CW’s DC Comics TV universe will grow to include Legends of Tomorrow, but this fall Arrow will enter its fourth season while The Flash will premiere its sophomore outing. In Season 2, Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash (Grant Gustin) will face plenty of new villains, develop new lightning powers and even meet some new speedsters.However, in addition to all the storylines and characters set to debut in season 2, The Flash will also continue to develop relationships established in Season 1. For instance, Iris West’s (Candice Patton) friendship with Barry was a throughline and, according to The Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, she will become a bigger part of his superhero work in Season 2.EW is reporting that Iris will take on the role of leader at S.T.A.R. Labs in the wake of the death of Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanaugh). Kreisberg explains that in the Season 2 premiere, Barry will attempt to work without a team, but it’s Iris who ends up reuniting Team Flash, and she subsequently takes on the leadership spot left by Wells.

Two images from the set of The Flash have shown what is thought to be Doctor Light.The shots come from Canadagraphs on Twitter, and although they only show the back of the character, CBM certainly believes it could be Doctor Light. “The Flash” has tapped “Candyman” star Tony Todd as the voice of DC Comics villain Zoom in season two, Variety has learned exclusively.Zoom will menace titular hero Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) beginning in episode two, “Flash of Two Worlds.”“Last year, with the Reverse-Flash, we just modulated Tom Cavanagh’s voice, and this year we wanted to do something a little bit different,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Variety. “Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Actor Tony Todd has been cast as the Flash’s archenemy Zoom in the second season of the CW’s hit TV series. Now, if you’re thinking to yourself, “Hey, I thought the Reverse-Flash was the Flash’s archenemy,” well, you’re right. Because Zoom is the Reverse-Flash. Who was played in season one by Tom Cavanaugh. Who is still on the show in season two. Even though he was erased from existence in the first season finale. What the hell is even happening here?The way Variety reports it, Zoom appears to be an all-new enemy for season, although he’ll have the same speedster powers as the Reverse-Flash, and will hate the Flash just like the Reverse Flash, and, again, in the comics is the exact same person as the Reverse Flash. This isn't the first time that "Flash" fans got a glimpse of Garrick's helmet; during the climactic final showdown between Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh), the singularity caused by the speedsters spat out Garrick's helmet. Though Garrick's arrival was only teased in this scene, Teddy Sears has since been cast in the role.Described as a "mysterious figure," Garrick will take on a mentor role with Barry. "Jay has seen some things that Barry hasn't seen, and he's going to be helping him through the process," executive producer Gabrielle Stanton explained in an interview. Of the several comic book television adaptions that debuted in 2014, The CW’s Arrow spinoff The Flash arguably fared the best, developing an immediate following (the built-in Arrow audience didn’t hurt, of course) and ultimately faring better critically than FOX’s Batman prequel series Gotham or NBC’s now-cancelled Constantine (although the title character played by Matt Ryan will appear on Arrow during season 4).The Flash will continue the themes and storylines set up during season 1, introduce all new villains for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) to deal with, even as he learns to control some new powers. One big subplot from the first season centered around Barry’s feelings for Iris West (Candice Patton) and the last we heard, Iris will be taking on something of a significant leadership role.The Flash co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg referred to Iris as “a born leader,” which led some to believe that Iris would be taking on the overall S.T.A.R. labs mentor/leadership role recently vacated by Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Having just wrapped on episode six of season two of The Flash, Danielle Panabaker then flew from Vancouver to Atlanta for Dragon Con 2015 this weekend. She was kind enough to take time out of her busy schedule to not only attend some fan panels, but also to talk to a small group of journalists early in the morning. While we tried to get her to slip up and reveal some behind-the-scenes secrets before she had her first cup of coffee, Panabaker was too smart for us.That being said, she still talked about the Season 2 premiere of The Flash and how the characters will respond to the events of the previous season. There is some episode-specific info for those of you looking to see Caitlin Snow interact more with either Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) or newcomer Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten), and all signs point to Episode 7 being pretty epic.Season two doesn’t exactly pick up right after the events that closed out the first season. We’re less than a month away from the Season Two premiere of The Flash. Let that sink in for a moment. Now, if you’re ready for it, we have the first look at newcomer Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) in motion thanks to this new promo for the upcoming season. It’s a brief teaser at under 30 seconds, but it’s packed with new footage, one-liners, and characters on both sides of the super-powered divide between heroes and villains.From the very first frame of this promo, Garrick advises the S.T.A.R. Labs team (and reminds viewers) about the singularity that brought about the end of season one. While this season will certainly address the fallout from that event, Garrick also reveals that Barry’s world is in grave peril in part because beings from parallel worlds that were able to travel through a portal.
