SatelliteGuys.US DishNetwork Uplink Activity Discussion - Week Ending 08/18/2007

My poor little 811 in the bedroom thinks it's in a time warp, and it's 2005 again. By tonight, it'll be January 2004. Good thing it's getting switched out tomorrow.

So, as of now we still have 9 VOOM channels to convert to MPEG4, an empty TP on 110 (17) that was HD now just in test mode, and an empty TP created on both 61.5/129 just created by making 6 VOOM channels MPEG4?

So, we could possibly get 1.5 more TPs by converting the next 9 VOOM, and we have 2 free TPs already. So, we are looking at capacity to possibly add up to 21 more HD channels? Of course if they add more HD LiL markets they will take away from the national channel capacity.

One really has to assume that 129 is full for now, turning on more TPs would probably mean having to reduce power to existing TPs. I wonder how many they are running in double power vs single power now.

Well, I'll tell ya this much: I used to get occasional drop-outs on 129 despite my 24" dish being finely tuned and peaked at that bird. Since Wednesday, only 1 drop-out...so whatever they're doing, I sure hope they keep it up, because their HD on 129 has never been as consistently viewable here in the Pacific Northwest (at least for me) prior to Wednesday. I'm quite pleased. :)

There's two TP's free on 61.5 as of the last report. I remember posting in the pub some speculation numbers on what we could have by the end of this year.

Is there any way to tell the box to.....

Well, I've had better Customer Service experiences...
