NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

Opps, what was I thinking , hmmm maybe the day before ...... :o:o:o

My bad, should I go back and edit my mistake ?
I knew that didn't sound right when I typed it .....

Thats what I get for doing a quick search instead of going by memory

Pete Rose has the most career base hits in MLB history, with 4,256. Ty Cobb is second with 4,189.

I won't name the site this came from.

Ty Cobb has 4,191 unless they took away hits since Rose broke the record. I have the game recorded on a DVD.

So McNabb going to Oakland?
They might become a playoff team because the only thing that team really needed was a QB, and maybe a better head coach..

Wow, the Eagles must really be annoyed at McNabb to consider sending him to Oakland, the Siberia of the NFL. :(

THANK YOU!!! I do too!

How can ANY sports fan in the right mind actually hope a player from an opposing team do WELL against YOUR OWN TEAM??!! That goes against everything that is natural about rooting for your team!

How can you draft a player from a team YOU HATE and hope he does well knowing that IF he does well, the team might win AND lessen your teams chances of advancing to playoff possibility??!! Sacrilege!!!

I don't know about others, but I have 2 rules that I ALWAYS follow when playing fantasy:

#1. My "real" team is first and foremost. I root for their success over my fantasy players, always.

#2. I never draft a player from my rival (Steelers are not permitted on my team under any circumstance).

I thought McNabb said he would only go to a "good team". Does he have the ability to reject the trade?

Not sure. Have not heard that mentioned on Philly sports radio, where it's all McNabb all the time...(March Madness? What March Madness?) But that doesn't mean its' not true.

It's assumed a team would not trade for McNabb unless they were assured he would sign beyond next year, but when you trade with the Raiders all bets are off...;)

If any team were to trade for McNabb without first assuring he will be there for more than one year, it would probably be Oakland. Geniuses they are not. ;)

The big stumbling block for an Oakland trade is Namdi's contract, not McNabb's. There's also some doubt that the franchise tag will be available in a lockout year, if they traded him and didn't extend his contract they could lose both McNabb and Richard Seymour (who's still working on a new deal).

Even if they could franchise him (or whichever team he ends up with) it would be a 1 year $20mil contract for a 35+ y/o QB. Ummm no.

Unrelated, Santonio Holmes being civily sued for assault, battery.

The civil complaint contends that Holmes confronted plaintiff Anshonoe Mills after she refused to leave the arm of a couch in the VIP area of the Rain nightclub. Holmes allegedly "put his hand" in Mills' face while attempting to remove her from the couch. Holmes then allegedly "threw his entire glass cup of liquor" at Mills' face, allegedly causing a laceration below her eyebrow and "blinding her temporarily."

She claims that, outside the club, she asked a police office to "reprimand" Holmes for his conduct. The complaint then alleges that "he" (it's unclear whether the pronoun refers to the officer or Holmes) "proceeded to inform the plaintiff that he was an NFL football player and that he could not face criminal charges." Mills also alleges that Holmes then "offered to give [her] money because he was a [sic] NFL star and could not get into trouble."

Mills claims that she "felt pressure from [Holmes] and the Orlando Police Department not to press chargers," and that while under said pressure he made "a short victim statement incoherently stating that she was hit in the face and bleeding near her eyes, however, intended not to press charges." She claims that the Orlando Police Department failed to write a police report.

I guess we can change the saying to "Nothing good happens after midnight, and/or in nightclub VIP areas too!!" ;)
