NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

This is awesome, we all thought the skins would open their wallet and spend like they usually do, and they did the opposite, putting them in a great position for the future. Redskins' cutbacks probably temporary - ESPN

The Redskins dropped $63 million of dead salary cap pro-ration with the retirement of Chris Samuel and the releases of veterans Rock Cartwright, Todd Collins, Randy Thomas, Latrell Betts, Cornelius Griffin, Antwaan Randle-El and cornerback Fred Smoot. If there were a $123 million salary cap, the Redskins would have been $39 million over the cap after those transactions. For cash, the Redskins cut their payroll to $70.6 million, fourth-lowest in the league. Knowing Snyder, that number will grow.

Also, it was mentioned in a San Jose Mercury article that JaMarcus has spent part of the offseason in a clinc being treated for lethargy addiction.

Chiefs have re-signed Chris Chambers to a 3 year deal.

Bills have picked up a former Raider, they gave 34 y/o tackle Cornell Green a $9mil 3 year contract.

Colts have released starting RG Ryan Lilja, only 28, and started every game last season. I bet he doesn't last long on the market.

Can you really be addicted to being a lazy ass? Or is that just some kind of excuse?

The Browns have acquired Seahawks backup QB Seneca Wallace for a late round 2011 draft pick.

I guess this means they won't be trading for Troy Smith, who is seeking a trade from the Ravens and is from Cleveland.

Well if nothing else, they'll be a fun developmental team in Madden. Kinda like the Chiefs have been for the last 10 or so years :)

It is being reported locally that the trade is a conditional draft pick in 2011, said to be ranging from a fourth- down to a sixth-round choice. The Browns currently have all 11 of their selections for the 2010 NFL Draft.

If Seneca Wallace is a back-up, I don't have an issue, considering we will probably be dropping DA fairly soon. I'm not too comfortable if he ends up being our "franchise QB" of the future that Holmgren has supposedly been seeking though.

Hmmm. I begining to think about the possible set formations with Seneca Wallace. Last year, in addition to QB, Wallace was also a receiver/skill position guy. He's kind of like a Cribbs v. 2.0. Can you imagine lining those two guys in the backfield, not knowing which one will get the ball and when they do if they will run or pass? Hmmm. Very interesting.

Love Troy Smith as a person. Loved him as a Buckeye. Love that he's from my hometown of Cleveland. With that said, he's been an absolute flop on the pro-level. If he didn't go to OSU, no one in Ohio would care to have him on the Browns.

Fujita Exits New Orleans

“Before leaving town, though, Fujita did one more thing for the people of New Orleans: He gave half of his Super Bowl check to charity, half of that going to relief efforts in Haiti, and the other half going to coastal restoration in New Orleans. [...]

Take note, other free agents. That’s how you leave a city. So far, the bar has been set at “hold a tearful press conference” or “thank the fans in a full-page newspaper ad” for a classy exit. Scott Fujita just raised it.

Welcome to Cleveland Scott!

Like I said in the Tiger Woods thread. Why is everything an addiction now a days? Tiger is "addicted" to sex. Jamarcus is "addicted" to sleep. Could it be Tiger is just a horny mother F*er and Jamarcus is lazy?

Labeling just makes it sound like an excuse.
