NFL preseason 2010-2011 Official discussion thread!

Uh oh. Sounds like sour grapes from DA. What a poor sport! DA has just become public enemy #1 in Cleveland. Them sound like fightin' words!!!!

The reality is this. Derek Anderson broke the fan's hearts in 2007. It was a roller coaster of a season, but as Sky mentioned we were in the driver's seat to make the playoffs heading into Week 16 and he single handily lost us the game. The two following years he was absolutely horrible.

I'm sorry if your feelings are hurt DA, but this is the big leagues you cry baby. Get over yourself. The fans of this city will never accept a loser such as yourself!

of offense HD, BUT if he telling the truth that the fans CHEERED when he got hurt....regardless of his performace...the losers are the Browns fans!

Well, not exactly. I wasn't at the game he was talking about, so I have no idea, but to call out an ENTIRE fanbase for what was probably only a handful (ie. very small percentage) of fans was wrong.

OK...so if you were NOT there...how do you know it was a "very small percentage" ...and at MOST games, it's it predominantly the usual fans....as in the season ticket holders....? IF this were true....then this is bordering on Eagles fan type stuff....

...I mean seriously....cheering that YOUR OWN PLAYER got hurt....??!!

Again, a small percentage doesn't make up an entire fanbase. There's millions of Browns backers worldwide. A few drunk people at a game who may have or have not cheered his injury doesn't represent the legion of us worldwide. And if it were this big of an ordeal, why now are we just hearing about this? I don't recall hearing any "cheers" when DA got injured on TV or recall ever reading about this incident in the paper? Hmmm.

I think this all boils down to DA being an unprofessional and pissed about being dropped.

I agree. Unless you were at the game it's difficult to comment how much cheering there actually was, and if so, what they were cheering for.

Much ado about nothing.

I remember it (and I remember DA being close to tears about after the game in the lockerroom).

It occurred at the end of a game late in the season where the Browns were getting blown out. There were hardly any fans left in the stands, and you could here a small amount of cheering when he the cart came out. It was probably a few 100 idiots cheering in an empty stadium and it hardly represented Browns fans as a whole.

Those comments by DA lambasting the entire fanbase were very unproffesional and will show his future employer just how thin-skinned he is and how well he really handles adversity. What an idiot.

PS. Is it too much to ask for DA to ultimately end up on the Steelers? :)

No.

What about the other AFC North teams (Cincy, Baltimore)?

(After reading what he said about Cleveland fans, I take back my comment about savoring his 2007 season.)

So let me get this clear....here is a guy that is close to tears because he feels he let the team and a city down and litterally busting his ass in the process....and you guys are pissed that he is disappointed in the Browns Organization and fans that cheered his injury.....??!!!

...priceless..!!

He was close to tears because he had hurt feelings over a few fans cheering his injury. Some fans cheered when Tim Couch got hurt and he did cry about it after the game.

For your own sake you should drop it. You have nothing to prove or defend. If someone wants to hate, let them. ;)

Players get heckled in all cities/sports towns. This is nothing new. It's part of his job as a professional to be more "professional" than the fans. This is where he screwed up. By throwing every single fan related to the Browns under the bus, he proves that he's no better than the small majority that booed him in the first place.

You too HD, for your own sake don't get drawn into this. Let haters hate, you won't change their mind.

And I agree with you 100%. But guess it's ok because it's 'that's just fan being fans'...

But hey, your team....your opinion....;):up

Derek Anderson Issues Apology to Browns Nation

Looks like someone woke up this morning and had second thoughts. Probably didn't like the s* storm that flooded his inbox this morning. Lol....

I said some things to Jeff Schudel (of The News-Herald) earlier that I regret. Those of you who got to know me personally from covering the Browns over the past five years, know this was out of character for me. I wasn’t taken out of context, but I was speaking out of my frustration after my career with the Browns came to a close.

I had some great times playing in Cleveland, especially during the 2007 season and I met some great people and made many lifelong friends along the way. I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life.
