NFL 2009-10 Season

This IS getting stranger by the minute. NOW we have gone from punches being thrown....to snatching chairs from under people to the current one of slamming them against some cabinet and choking someone screaming "I am gonna kill you!" One moment, there is barely enough information to form an opinion....the next, the flood gates open up and there are "sources" all of the place. Until there are NAMES saying, "I saw him DOING this..." or "I never saw THAT happen"....nothing is concrete. The story has changed 3 times already. SOMETHING DID happen, but I see alot of possible made up/exaggerated/false stories going on here.

Why would there be names on sources during a legal investigation that hasn't concluded? NOBODY has said 'nothing happened' - there's no source yelling that aside from Tom Cables 'its an internal matter' which is not 'nothing happened'. I'd be pissed if I was Mark Schlareth, since Cable played the semantics game with him with 'no punches thrown' lol.

Maybe Mark knows more than what YOU or I know....That COULD BE the reason he is not pissed.

Maybin, Bills Agree On Five-Year Deal

The Buffalo Bills and first-round pick Aaron Maybin have reached agreeement on a five-year deal, according to a team source, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports

That leaves just Andre Smith (No. 6) and Michael Crabtree (No. 10) as the only remaining rookies without deals. Smith looks like he's never going to sign, considering the fact that he and agent Alvin Keels are still hung up on No. 7 pick Darrius Heyward-Bey's deal, and the fact that the Bengals don't want to give them more than that.

But what about the Crabby One? He's also bent out of shape regarding DHB's deal, considering he thinks he's a better player, but with both Maybin and No. 9 pick B.J. Raji signed, the numerical framework should be in place. Should.

Police have officially reopened their investigation into Hanson's assault:

“Upon initial contact the victim did not want any police action or formal charges filed. The victim refused to identify the responsible or any potential witnesses. Due to a lack of information provided to the police department the case was closed. Since that time, new information has come to light which has resulted in the investigation to be re-opened. Due to this being an ongoing criminal investigation no other information will be provided at this time.”

Napa Lt. Brian McGovern said that Hanson’s attacker, identified by multiple sources as Cable, could face felony charges if Hanson’s jaw is broken. Sources told the National Football Post on Thursday that Hanson would begin cooperating with law enforcement and that his attorney, John McGuinn of San Francisco, would be turning over medical records to police. The sources said those records would reveal Hanson’s jaw is broken.

This is what happens when the Head Coach is not "permitted" to pick his own staff. Seems like the Raiders will be handcuffed by Al Davis until he either retires or croaks.

Loved the headline in today's Free Press - "Lions in mid-season form"! Down 20 pts. before they even put a first down away on offense. It's going to be another LOOOONNNGGGG season. At least I'll have plenty to make fun of.

I noticed the same thing while watching the first half, down by 20 in the first quarter .... what crossed my mind ?
Same old lions ....

JaMarcus named starter week 1 in Oakland to nobody's surprise. With Garcia just now starting to get his first reps in practice due to injury/personal stuff he hasn't really had any competition.

I don't know if you have watched any of the Raiders pre-season games...but I think he has done you would hoped. Made quicker decisions as in who to throw to, has show signs that he knows the offense and not to mention he has throw well. He looks TONS better than pre-season LAST year....and 3 times as confident. Will that carry him for the whole season, I don't know....but I do NOT wanna see Garcia play because it will simply mean something has gone terribly wrong.

Preseason Game 2 Thoughts: Browns vs. Lions

- Holy hell, this team looked completely different from the week before! Either the Lions are still god awful, or the Browns addressed and fixed some issues from the previous week. Hard to tell...

- Derek Anderson appeared to even out the QB competition. He started the game and drove the team down the field for 3 scores. It was 20-0 after Quarter 1!

- The biggest playmaker on our team was an undrafted walk-on and former QB from Kent State University. His name: Josh Cribbs. He further sealed his talents as a special teamer on Saturday night. On the very first play, he ran back a 95-yard kickoff for a TD (which was unfortunately called back on a holding call). Then, on the first Lion's punt, Cribbs again, returned it for a TD. Oh, did I also mention this dude is also in the running for earing the #2 WR spot, opposite of Braylon Edwards? Is there anything Cribbs can't do?!

- While the Lions were missing their top receivers (Calvin Johnson and Dennis Northcutt), I was not impressed with Matthew Stafford at all! All of his passes weren't even close to his targets. Some, 10-15 yards off! If the Lions start him to begin the season, it would be a good way to ruin a young QB. Let him learn on the sidelines until the game slows down for him.

- Quinn took the reins in the 2nd quarter, but was victimized by a few costly offensive penalties which stalled some of his drives. Heading into preseason week 3, QB1 status is anybody's to take.

- BTW, I like this kid James Davis. Remember when I gave my review of the Browns draft, way back when? I predicted that this 6th round RB from Clemson would be a steal. Saturday, he made me look like a genius: 12 carries for 116 yards and a TD. Woah....

Maybe they won't win a preseason game this year and then go undefeated:D.....ahhh who am I kidding, we are talking about the Lions. :D

I haven't watched much, what's up with a RB not named Frank Gore putting up 140 yards on you guys in the first half?

Cardinals lost their 2nd round pick for the season, needs surgery on his wrist.

Arizona's average group was dealt a blow Monday, when they learned second-round pick Cody Brown will miss the entire 2009 season because of a "devasting, rare injury," according to his agent.

The Arizona Republic reveals that Brown will undergo surgery for several dislocated bones in his wrist. The recovery period is only 4-6 months.

Brown, a UConn grad, wasn't expected to make a huge impact as a rookie while he converted from defensive end. But the lost season will slow his development and chance to win a starting job next year.

Chike Okeafor, Clark Haggans, and Bertrand Berry are Arizona's top three outside linebackers. Their average age: 33 years old.
