NFL 2009-10 Season

Plaxico pleaded guilty this morning, and will serve 2 years in prison. Not sure what the good behavior possibilities are.
In other news the terrorist who blew up a Pan Am plane and killed hundreds of people is being released from prison. Lemme get this straight. A guy who shot himself is going away for 2 years while a homicidal terrorist walks free. Real justice.

After 8 years of a life term he walked away free, because he's terminally ill. Probably a topic for that other thread, not here. Who woulda thunk it someone would have actually made a thread about my nonsensical suggestion earlier in this one.

Biggest injury news of the offseason, Big Ben injured his achiles tendon today in practice. It isn't believe to be a complete tear (yet) as he's walking on it, but there's some scared Steelers fans out there right now while it's being figured out.

So apparently charges weren't pressed after the scuffle at the Raiders facility to prevent media attention and all that jazz. Since the media finally caught on, Hanson has changed his mind, has retained an attorney and is cooperating with police.

From a source...

"Cable knocked Hanson out of his chair and up against the wall and into a cabinet. Cable and Hanson fell to the floor, where Hanson was choked, . . . and Cable was pulled off Hanson by the other men before Cable went after Hanson again."

“Cable said, ‘I am going to kill you, I am going to kill you,’ as he was choking him,’’ according to the source, who also said furniture in the room was damaged.

Later, Cable informed Hanson that his role on the team would be changed to breaking down film and he would no longer be a coach on the field and would not travel with the team.

Hanson was also back in the emergency room yesterday due to swelling/pain from his broken jaw.

If it's proven Cable did this, he could face felony charges.

The source said that Hanson did not cooperate with law enforcement from the start because it was his hope the matter would be resolved and he could return to his role as a coach. The source said Hanson’s lifelong goal was to work for the Raiders, leading him to leave a position he held in St. Louis for Oakland. Now that Davis and Cable have made it clear that will not happen, Hanson has decided to follow the request of police and aid in their investigation. A civil suit is a probability, a source said.

The guy is physically injured, this isn't going to just go away, nobody has really said 'nothing happened' just playing with words like 'no punches thrown'. Even if there's enough doubt out there to get this to go away criminally, I think the Raiders and Cable are going to bend over civilly because of this.

Ben's injury sounding less and less severe as more info comes out. A lineman stepped on his foot during a play and he got tripped up.

The good news is that Roethlisberger, a well-documented exaggerator of injuries, isn't suggesting that amputation is in his immediate future. "Oh, it just feels great," he told team president Art Rooney. "It feels like a car ran over it."

Steve, since you're a Chiefs fan, I'll admit I took some shots at your team last year, but I do see them making a few strides this year.

They remind me a bit of Dick Vermeil's team- offense-oriented, decent QB, good running game, shaky defense.

They will be very interesting to watch.

I'm not getting too hopeful, but just some improvement will be nice. A more disciplined team rather than a 'players team' is what I want to see, for better or for worse, and that's what we'll get with this coach and GM.

I'd have been crushed if I was hopeful last year.... we lost like 7 games by 7 points or less and 2-3 more by just 10 in a division where the winner was 8-8. The defense just rarely lasted an entire game.

Yes, the kicks were pretty good, I would have liked to see him kick a field goal from say 40 yards out and see what happens when you have a rush and something on the line.

Dear God, can you imagine what OchoStinko will have to say now, it's bad enough that he's the best recv'r that has ever lived and had to add comedy to the end zone.
I know he didn't start it, but he definatly addded to the endzone BS, just wish the showboat recvr's would ACT LIKE THEY'VE BEEN THERE, once in a while.

This IS getting stranger by the minute. NOW we have gone from punches being thrown....to snatching chairs from under people to the current one of slamming them against some cabinet and choking someone screaming "I am gonna kill you!" One moment, there is barely enough information to form an opinion....the next, the flood gates open up and there are "sources" all of the place. Until there are NAMES saying, "I saw him DOING this..." or "I never saw THAT happen"....nothing is concrete. The story has changed 3 times already. SOMETHING DID happen, but I see alot of possible made up/exaggerated/false stories going on here.

I think the ensuing kickoff was even better, lol.

NFL Videos: Pre WK 2: Chad Ochocinco the kicker

OK....I am becoming MORE of a fan of this guy every time I see him. Yeah, he is flaky, yeah he is a diva....but you can probably count on 2 hands MAX how many WR are NOT divas in the NFL. I have been always watching that HBO show hard knocks and I like the watching him on the show.

One of the founders of End Zone celebrations was also a Bengal... Icky Woods.
