NFL 2009-10 Season

"Cleveland Browns General Manager George Kokinis is no longer actively involved with the organization. In response to rumors and reports that Kokinis was escorted out of the building today, the Browns deny those reports. In the interest of protecting the parties involved we will withhold further comment."

Reportedly Mangini's not going anywhere. They should make him GM too now. Like Bill Parcells said if you're going to cook the dinner you should be allowed to shop for the groceries. :D Anyone in the mood for a turd casserole?

So while the NFL is still considering punishment against Cable for the Hansen incident, the Raiders have issued a statement distancing themselves (undertaking a 'serious evaluation') from Cable saying they'll take action if warranted. It may end up not taking much more work to fire Cable with cause if they go that route - and Al Davis is all about saving money.

The new charges are that he's beaten women, two of them. One was his wife, 20 years ago that he initially denied, then he confessed to. He said she was having an affair 'and struck her with an open hand'. The other is a more recent girlfriend, and she's alleging abuse as recently as January after which a police report was apparently filed.

Another thing that could factor into it... the Raiders CEO is a woman.

I guess someone had to take the fall. IMO, Kokinis should've never been hired in the first place.

Mistake #1 in the offseason was hiring the head coach first. Mangini then got to hand pick his own GM. In what other profession does an employee get to "choose" their boss? It made absolutely no sense. There needs to be oversite and accountability. Mangini's a big boy, but not big enough to run an entire franchise on his own.

The latest rumors have Lerner seeking Eric Accorsi for GM/President of Football Operations. This IMO, would be the BEST possible scenario. Accorsi has proven in the past he's capable of running a professional football team.....

Ernie Accorsi, former general manager of the New York Giants, Baltimore Colts and Browns, is being sought by Lerner as a consultant, a league source said. Accorsi could not be reached for comment. Accorsi has served in a consulting capacity on numerous occasions for teams and has an alliance with former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar, who was hired by Lerner as a consultant on Oct. 17.

Times They Are a Changing.... in BEREA!

The more I think of the Browns GM firing, I'm beginning to see the similarities in what Dan Snyder is doing in Washington. Is Lerner pulling a Dan Snyder and trying to force Mangini to quit? Think about it. Isn’t that basically what the Skins are doing by bringing in Sherm Lewis? Trying to make Zorn quit so they don’t have to fire him? MAYBE RANDY’S A BETTER BUSINESSMAN THAN WE THOUGHT? And if Mangini doesn't quit, the new GM/President of Football Operations will certainly have a say in the coaching situation.

Ah, never a dull moment in Berea, Ohio. Just another day in the reality show drama that is your Cleveland Browns!

Rex is an ass, he is hard to root for. When he wins he's never gracious, and when he loses he reminds me of drunken depressed Krusty the Clown after someone pulled a joke over on him and he's all droopy and his eyes get all gaunt.

I also think Ryan and all of his stupid bravado are not making it easy for a rookie quarterback. The Jets are getting into Mets territory, acting all arrogant, like they're world champions of all four major sports, when they haven't actually won anything.

It should be noted I started questioning Ryan and all of his bluster when the Jets were 3-0, long before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon.

One person on this site even had the 'you know whats' to question the Giants when they were 5-0, not when they were 5-3. That person would be the only one who doesn't actually have 'you know whats'. ;) :D

Derek Anderson: Worst QB in 28 Years!

According to STATS LLC, Derek Anderson's 36.2 QB rating is the lowest of any player through eight weeks since Oakland's Marc Wilson in 1981. Also, Anderson's 320 yards passing in the past four games are the fewest by any quarterback with a minimum of 80 attempts since Chicago's Vince Evans in '81.

Also of note and to show just how pathetic the Browns offense has been this season, last night, the New Orleans Saints' defense scored their SIXTH offensive TD of the season. For comparison's sake, the Browns offense has scored only FIVE offensive touchdowns. Wow, just wow!

And yet, Brady Quinn sits. I know he couldn't do much better, but that shows it's all about the bonus....

From a business perspective, I understand Quinn sitting. Who in their right mind would want to pay an $11 million dollar bonus to a team who's going no where this year? And besides, would Quinn do "that" much better than DA? He certainly didn't in the first 3 games of the season.

From a fans perspective, it's time to go back to Quinn. From an evaluation standpoint, we need to let Quinn go for the rest of the season to make a better assessment on him once and for all. We need to determine if Quinn's in our future plans or we need to draft a QB in the upcoming draft. And fans don't care about the behind the scenes financial stakes at play. We don't want to discuss "rebuilding" either. We're an impatient bunch and want to see our team win or at least be competitive in each and ever game.

:up:up I like DA, but I've seen enough. Let Quinn start the rest of the season. This team is a joke that desperately needs a strong leader at the top. I know it's wishful thinking, but I wish Lerner would sell the team.

The Thursday night "home" game against pittsburgh is shaping up to be one of the most embarrassing moments in Browns history. Cleveland Browns Stadium is going to be a sea of black & gold and the Browns are going to get killed on national TV. :(

What happened to the standings??? ;)

Weekly Update

Jets Record with Braylon Edwards: 1-3
Browns Record w/o Edwards: 1-3

Let's go Braylon! Rack up some stats during these losses! We want the higher draft pick.

What a difference two years makes.

Almost two years to the day, he had 17 touchdown passes, a QB rating of 88.4, and in a four-game stretch around this time, he had 1144 passing yards.

Did anyone catch the MNF pre-game show on NFL Network last night?

They were actually saying the Braylon Edwards signing was a bad move for the Jets. They said the Jets are not the same team they were before the trade. The addition of BE caused them to change their offensive philosophy. They're getting away from what they're good at (running the ball) and Sanchez seems pressured to try and squeeze more balls in Edwards direction. Went on to say Braylon isn't a #1 WR, drops too many passes, etc.

This is what many Browns fans can't wrap their heads around, myself included.

How in the world do you go from a Pro-Bowl QB to the worst QB in over 28 years?!
