NFL 2009-10 Season

too bad the Lions couldn't win today...wasnt this their "win for sure" game??

There second Blacked Out game you mean, they usual win when the locals can't see it :D

There are a few other games they could win.

They play Cleveland yet and Seattle next week, really doubt they can beat Seattle, but they are not playing very well either.

The rest the will definately be underdogs.

I think I picked them to win 3-5 games this year (and the Rams was one of them) looking like the 3 may be a stretch at this point.

if it wasn't for ted ginn returning 2 kickoffs for TD's (100 yds,101 yds) we would've lost that game. defense was ok, offense was offensive. like paul said, the jets were going to figure out the wildcat this time. good call pauly shore

They're a dominating mediocre team, they just hadn't had the kind of schedule so far to expose them to the better teams.

One person on this site even had the 'you know whats' to question the Giants when they were 5-0, not when they were 5-3. That person would be the only one who doesn't actually have 'you know whats'. ;) :D

Randy Lerner (Browns owner) Speaks!!!

So, now that the Browns have gotten to the bye week with a 1-7 record, it seems Randy Lerner has decided to make himself heard. According to reports in The OBR and Cleveland.com, Lerner was not only at the game yesterday in Chicago, but he made himself quite visible to the coaches and team as they exited for half time and after the game.

Lerner basically said that he will be looking for a head of Football Operations (team President)........

“The highest priority that I have is a strong, credible, serious leader within the building to guide decisions in a far more conspicuous, open transparent way. I can maybe defend decisions by saying I’ve sought advice and I’ve brought people in, and we’ve gone to see people — and I think my highest priority is to have a stable figure that represents the voice that explains the decisions.”

This clearly is the right decision, because it all starts at the top. Errors in coaching/GM hires have been the #1 fault of this team since they came back in '99. We need a strong voice for this franchise and one who hits more often than misses on critical decisions.

Browns owner Randy Lerner says Mangini's job safe for now, but team will add 'serious, credible' leader | Cleveland Browns - cleveland.com - - cleveland.com

The Eagles destroy the Giants and lose to Oakland???????

Even with the Phillies fading away, it will be another big weekend, when Dallas comes in next Sunday. Two weeks in a row, with 1st place at stake, in the NFC East. GO BIRDS!

Monday Morning QB: Week 8 with HD MM

After a much needed bye week, I'm back for the weekly MMQB thoughts!

1. Rest assure Detroit, your 0-16 record is safe. The last of the 0-fers, the Titans and Rams are off the snide!

2. It was throwback day in Nashville. Vince Young looked like the 2008 version of Kerry Collins and Chris Johnson looked like the 2008 version of himself. VY played efficiently in throwing 15 for 18, 1 TD and 0 interceptions. CJ ran for a 228 yards and 2 scores.

3. For the 6th time in 8 games, the Browns have lost by double digits. Persuasion might not be needed to organize a "Brown Out" for Week 10's Monday Night game or the remainder of their home games for that matter. The product on display right now certainly isn't worth the price of admission, much less showing your face on National television.

4. Steve Slayton was benched for fumbleitis and Owen Daniels left the game with an injury, both in the first quarter. Neither seemed to matter to the Texans when they unveiled their new secret weapon: Ryan Moats! The little known back rushed for 126 yards and 3 scores. The Texans are 2 games above .500 for the first time in franchise history!

5. Dear Denver, you knew the fairy tail had to come to an end at sooner or later, right? On Sunday they looked like the Broncos we all expected to see at the start of the season.

6. Just another Colts win. But this one was uncomfortably close, especially at home and against the Niners. Peyton and company dodged a big one.

7. And just like that, Dallas is tied for first in the NFC East. For the second straight week, Tony Romo had three TD passes and no INTs. This team will go as far as Tony Romo takes them. Stay tuned.

8. What happened to the NY Giants? Seriously, I am stunned.

9. I feel bad for Jets fans. It looked like Rex Ryan had the Wild Cat figured out in the first half, then came Teddy Ginn Jr. on special teams. Woah!

10. After consecutive scores, a comeback in the making and the Packers looking to avenge their week 4 loss to Favre and the Vikings, ol' reliable himself, #4 did exactly what he does best: Rally his team back on the hallowed grounds of Lambeau Field. This time in the color purple.

11. Looking forward to tonights MNF game. Is Matt Ryan ready to take the next step in the rise of QB elites in this league or will the Falcons be the next victim of Drew Brees and company's offensive juggernaut?

12. Looking forward to next week, the Rams, Raiders, Browns and Bills all have byes, so the average quality of football should rise dramatically. :)

Do you see any wins for the still-winless Buccaneers this year?

Look on the bright side- at least they got in the end zone.

Normally, an off-day by Matt Schaub would equal trouble for the Texans. I think this proves how the team is turning the corner.

5. Dear Denver, you knew the fairy tail had to come to an end at sooner or later, right? On Sunday they looked like the Broncos we all expected to see at the start of the season.
Baltimore was very desperate- they were on a three-game skid, and needed to get back in the AFC North race.

6. Just another Colts win. But this one was uncomfortably close, especially at home and against the Niners. Peyton and company dodged a big one.
This was what I like to call a trap game, especially with big games coming up against Houston, New England, and Baltimore.

7. And just like that, Dallas is tied for first in the NCF East. For the second straight week, Tony Romo had three TD passes and no INTs. This team will go as far as Tony Romo takes them. Stay tuned.
With the spotlight and media attention now focused on other teams (Vikings, Saints, Eagles), I think the Cowboys are a team that plays better when the weight of expectations aren't on their shoulder.

8. What happened to the NY Giants? Seriously, I am stunned.
Last year, a lot of people got on my case when I was critical of the NY Giants. This year, I've been holding my tongue- if this keeps up, I can't hold it back anymore. Their game next week against San Diego- a MUST WIN.

9. I feel bad for Jets fans. It looked like Rex Ryan had the Wild Cat figured out in the first half, then came Teddy Ginn Jr. on special teams. Woah!
This reminded me of Desmond Howard- great at special teams, not so great as a reciever. I'm sure you were pleased to see Ginn do what he did- after all, he did go to Ohio State.

11. Looking forward to tonights MNF game. Is Matt Ryan ready to take the next step in the rise of QB elites in this league or will the Falcons be the next victim of Drew Brees and company's offensive juggernaut?
I'm calling for an upset. Atlanta is the only other team in that division that can stay upright, New Orleans could have a letdown after last week's comeback, and the Falcons have a QB, RB and WR that can match the Saints in moving the ball.

12. Looking forward to next week, the Rams, Raiders, Browns and Bills all have byes, so the average quality of football should rise dramatically. :)
A lot of interesting games next week- Ravens-Bengals, Colts-Texans, Dolphins-Patriots, Cardinals-Bears, Chargers-Giants, Cowboys-Eagles, Steelers-Broncos. Week 9 is STACKED with great games!

I don't....IF there was EVER a team that deserved a coach, it's the Jets fan. That bag of wind is the biggest jerkball since his dad. At least the Raiders former "Tub-of-Goo" was nowhere near as much a talker as this moron!

He KILLS me with his comment of how the Jets "outplayed the Dolphins". Last time I checked, special teams and defense IS a part of football.

...suddenly, people think just because you have OUTGAINED someone in total yardage...you have won the game.

Woops. Almost forgot about the Bucs.

After looking at their schedule, the two easiest opponents they have left are Carolina and Seattle, both on the road. If they don't pull of a miracle in either one of those road trips, they may very well flirt with the 0-16 mark.

Allowing 2 kicks to be returned for TD's is inexcusable. They should fire their special teams coach. I thought that sort of thing could only happen to the Raiders.

too bad the Lions couldn't win today...wasnt this their "win for sure" game??

Is there any doubt now about who the worst franchise in NFL history is? They have now lost 29 of the last 31. Tampa Bay at their beginning wasn't even this bad, and the Lion's have had 52 years to get to this point.

My new theory is that they are in the "Bermuda Triangle of suckdome." You enter the triangle and all your talent suddenly vanishes. If you are a head coach, you never are a head coach in the NFL again. QB's careers die here. Anybody who had talent when they got here, suddenly become talentless.

When you can't beat a team that hasn't won in their previous 17 games, you don't belong in the NFL. This team would lose in the UFL.

GO LIONS! NO. REALLY, GO! GO FAR FREAKING AWAY! YOU SUCK BEYOND BELIEF!

As a Cleveland fan, this post makes me feel better. Thanks Paul. Football in Ohio doesn't look so grim after all.

Sorry...but the 2 of the 3 players of major quality on the this Raider team is our kickers and Nnamdi. THAT was was pure ego on the special teams coaches part....

...and by the way, that is the 1st time ever that someone has run 2 kickoff returns for 100+ in one game, if I am not mistaken....and it was not done on the Raiders!

so there!!!!:p:p:p:p ;)
