NFL 2009-10 Season

That would make sense. I wonder if DA is just keeping the seat warm for Bradford.....I hope not. The Tim Couch debacle burned me for life on QBs as top draft picks.

I agree. Plus, you can now add Brady Quinn to the 1st round burned QB's in Cleveland.

Now, let's just hope DA can overcome the debacle he's gone through in his tenure as a starting & backup here.

Glass half full response: Even if we continue to lose, at least the games will be more exciting with DA at QB. The check-down dink and dunks for 2 yards at a time by Quinn were mind numbingly boring to watch. Our best weapon in Braylon Edwards was a non factor with Quinn at the helm. At least with DA, he'll throw down field more often.

I'm not ready to give up on Cleveland.

They still have games against Detroit, Oakland, and Kansas City.
You must not have watched them yet this season. They're terrible.....maybe DA will give them a spark, but the entire team is garbage.

I don't see them beating Detroit (at the last it will be a shootout and Detroit's defense is better), and their Oakland and Kansas City games are 2 of their last 3 of the season, they could be so low at that point that they may not have much of a chance beating them either. Of all the teams this year, the Browns have a good shot to go 0-16 IMO.

If McFadden is healthy, the Raiders will run all over the Browns.

This is the same guy that came in to replace Quinn and promptly threw 3 picks ....

You all happy with that ?

By the 8th game you will be crying for Brady or someone else by then.

I think you are giving up on QUINN WAY to early.

Jimbo

I think Mangini may be giving up on him too early. I gave up on him last year. I just don't think he has the talent to be a good NFL starter.

How many games has the guy played now ?

Does he even have 10 Starts ?
If not, your giving up on him WAY too early.

Would you have given up on Troy Aikman or Peyton Manning after a minimal amount of starts ?
Remember, NIETHER started out very well in thier first few years.

btw, I am NOT saying he'll end up as good as they are/were, but just saying.

Quinn has 6 starts in total. His QB rating in that span is a 64.5%. He has thrown for 918 yards (avg. 153 yards per game), thrown for 3 TD's and has 5 interceptions. Granted his stats are very underwhelming so far, but I agree with you that Mangini is rushing this decision.

I agree. Like Sky and most other Browns fans, we just want to see continuity at this position. Derek had his shot at starting a full season in '07. In '08 he was a bust. Whoever was named the starter at the beginning of the season should've gotten the whole year so this team could finally asses what we have (whether it was Quinn or DA). Quinn probably got the raw end of the deal here by a coach who may be on the hot seat. Unfortunately for both QB's, they will probably suffer in their developments because of this. I'm so sick of going back and forth with the QB position.

The problem is, Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan have changed conventional thinking regarding how long the learning curve should be, and there is a chance Mark Sanchez will do the same.

Counter point:

In Troy Aikman's first year he finished with an 0-11 record as a starter, completing 155 of 293 passes for 1,749 yards (159 ypg), 9 TDs, 18 INTs. We all know how that "experiment" turned out.

Look, I've made a case for DA and for BQ. At the same time, I think the most important move Mangini SHOULD HAVE made was to declare a starter and stick with him through hell and high water. He's mis-managed this situation entirely. What if DA stinks it up? Where do you go from there? This back and forth stuff is mentally ruining these young QB's.

This is strike 1 for Mangini.

:up:up:up

WTF was Mangini doing during training camp? All the evaluation he did was incorrect and now he's reversing course? Come on, coach.....

Yeah. I realize we're 0-3, but this move reeks of desperation. He must feel the burn of the hot seat. Especially considering the allotment of stud coaches for the picking next year. Not that any would agree to come to coach the Browns, but that's a discussion for another day. :(
