NFL 2008-09 Season

The LA Coliseum is located in South-Central Los Angeles, the PR guys at the NFL didn't feel safe in playing games at night there and that it would affect attendance, even worse than it already was. The NFL didn't want pictures of a half empty stadium being televised across the country for one of it's marquee programs.

I think it was because of league blackout rules. Games are blacked out in the home market if they aren't sold out 72 hours before kickoff. The LA Coliseum seats over 90,000 and the Raiders rarely sold out their home games. Thus any MNF games would have been blacked out in LA.

You guys are both right. And what really sucked about the blackout rules and the Coliseum was, RARELY did they sell out...BUT they average around 55,000 to 60,000 fans per game(approx. 450,000 for the entire season). As opposed to USC games that AVERAGE about 77,000 per game. Scary to think that you can average 77,000 per game and STILL not sell out a stadium.

Good college teams will always out draw a Pro team.
Can you see the Lions trying to fill the Big house ?
They would not even be able to fill it a quarter of the way :)

M has what 106, 000 EVERY week as do most of your larger top teams.
Ohio State , Tenessee extra all have over 100,000 weekly

Whose your 17th favorite team?:D

Probably this team:

Remember how I told ramy he was overreacting by saying the Bengals would go 0-16?

His orange and black are leading the reigning World Champs in Giants Stadium.

Oh, and HD's 0-16 pick- the Chiefs- ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!

Thoughts on the Early Sunday Games.

1. Guess Chris Berman's old rule about 2-0 teams going 3-0 came through today.

2. If New England was finally going to lose a regular season game, might as well really lose.

3. That sound your hearing is everyone jumping off Arizona's Bandwagon.

4. Congrats to the Raiders for doing what they always do, find a way to lose.

Exactly what I was saying to all the guys I watched the game with, Charles. :up

It's just that they got BLOWN OUT!!! by MIAMI!!! at home!!!

The ironic thing is, if Tom Brady played today, chances are they still get beat. The Pats defense was B-R-U-T-A-L!!!

BTW, after the startling developments of the 1:00 games, my post week 3 top 10 is gonna be DRAMATICALLY different!!

I've been switching back and forth between Jags-Colts and Saints-Broncos, a couple of observations:

1. Fred Taylor had one of the most spectacular runs I've EVER seen!

2. The Broncos could be 3-0 by the end of the day, BUT unless they fix their porous defense......they're going NOWHERE!!

I am here to admit (this is really hard), that the Browns season is now officially over. We are getting humiliated by the Rat's right now. This team has lost all confidence and the wheels have officially fallen off. This is especially depressing because going into the season, there was so much promise with this team.

There is going to be tremendous fallout from starting 0-3 (0-2) in the division. I wouldn't be surprised if either Romeo Crennel is fired or Derek Anderson is replaced with Brady Quinn.

Woe is Cleveland. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Jags up on the Colts, 20-14 with a little over two minutes left. Peyton and the Colts have the ball on their own 23.

HD's 0-16 prediction looking a lot better- the Chiefs, once again, blow chunks.

Hard to just believe that in 2003, they were as serious a Super Bowl contender as New England.

The real woe is in Kansas City.

At least your team has decent players.

The Cheifs, except for Dwayne Bowe, Larry Johnson, and Tony Gonzalez, are a team that couldn't win in the CFL.

Yeah but we had playoff ambitions. Everyone knew KC wasn't going anywhere this year.

Maybe we can trade Derek Anderson to them and salvage a draft pick. They're about as desperate as us about now...
