NFL 2008-09 Season

My "Top 10" after Week 2:

1. NY Giants
2. Dallas
3. Pittsburgh
4. Green Bay
5. Buffalo
6. Denver
7. New England
8. Carolina
9. Tennessee
10. Arizona
******************
11. Philadelphia

Did you not just post that Phili would win the Super Bowl this season? A #11 rating doesn't exactly exude confidence in your prediction. Especially since two of their divisional rivals are listed #1 and #2.

I stand by my prediction of the Eagles winning the SB. So I have them rated #11 right now, what's the big deal? It's not like we're talking about the BCS. My 1-10 teams have one thing in common, they're all 2-0. How can I justify putting the Eagles above any of them (I guess I could have put them at #10 over Arizona.............whose two wins are against SF and Miami). For the first 4,5,6 weeks these ratings flucuate to the point the Eagles could be in the top three in a matter of weeks.

Fans of teams that have started 0-2, can take solace in the fact that four teams that started 0-2, went on to the Super Bowl:

1993- Cowboys (beat Bills in SB)
1996- Patriots (lost to Packers in SB)
2001- Patriots (beat Rams in SB)
2007- Giants (beat Patriots in SB)

Also, the '94 Patriots started 0-2 and 3-6, before winning their last seven games. However, Bill Parcells' Patriots lost to Bill Belichick's Browns in the wild card round.

Monday Night Football -- Cable’s Biggest Audience Ever

Anyone surprised that this game surpassed last year's Ravens/Pats thriller? Last night's game, unlike Pats/Ravens, didn't have a jaw-dropping finish.

Not at all surprised. The Cowboys and Eagles are NFC East rivals. The 'Boys are "America's Team". The Eagles also have quite a devoted fan base.

On the other hand, I never could understand how the Rat's were associated with a large TV viewing audience.

The Vikings have announced that they will start Gus Frerotte in place of Tarvaris Jackson on Sunday. No surprise there.

The BOY's are NOT America's team, they ought to ask the people not the media....

I have hated the Boy's for years because they think they are "America's" team...

What exactly make you America's team ?

There are far better teams that Dallas that you could call America's team.

Dallas has stunk for 7 of the last 10 years.

Only Cowboy's fans think they are America's team.

Right on the money there Jimbo! INFACT, I am almost willing to be that the Cowboys are just as hated, if not more in some parts, as my Raiders.

I don't care for Dallas either, but the fact of the matter is that is what they are referred to as.

I've never understood that either. It's the same with the Cubs. Makes no sense. I'm an American and I say @#$* the Cowboys and Cubs!!!!

I don't understand either. It isn't like they have been around for a long time. Only started in the 60's.

Got a Raider questions for salsa and the others:

During their 1982-1994 stint in Los Angeles, they played a remarably low amount of 'Monday Night Football' games at the L.A. Coliseum.

They played in roughly 23 Monday Night games during their 12-years in L.A. but only four were at the L.A. Coliseum and none after 1985.

Why didn't the Raiders ever get to HOST a Monday Night game, at least in the Art Shell years (not the 2006 disaster, but the 1990-1994 stint when the Raiders were still decent)

I think it was because of league blackout rules. Games are blacked out in the home market if they aren't sold out 72 hours before kickoff. The LA Coliseum seats over 90,000 and the Raiders rarely sold out their home games. Thus any MNF games would have been blacked out in LA.

The LA Coliseum is located in South-Central Los Angeles, the PR guys at the NFL didn't feel safe in playing games at night there and that it would affect attendance, even worse than it already was. The NFL didn't want pictures of a half empty stadium being televised across the country for one of it's marquee programs.

Haven't the Raider's been on MNF more than anyone else ?
For alot of years it seemed like they were on every other week.
