NFL 2008-09 Season

The Cowboys straight f***ed themselves. They let Baltimore get TD runs of 70 and 80 yards in the last 3 mins of the game when they were only down by 2. That's the type of sh*t the Raiders or Lions would do. Kind of spoiled the whole farewell to Texas Stadium ceremony after the game.

Looks like the Ravens are going to beat Dallas.

Now, can someone explain how this will affect the AFC and NFC playoff pictures?

Just curious, but given the "Super Bowl losers" jinx, what would have to happen for the Patriots to miss the playoffs?

miami or the jets would need to win their last 2 games or miami and the jets lose one and win one and the pats lose one

basically the ravens win means or solidifies that only the division winner of the afc east will go to the playoffs. everyone else will go home in the east.

Time for me to give my semi-weekly two cents on the Arizona Cardinals:

I'm sick and tired of hearing how Zona can't win on the East, Pats are unbeatable in December, etc.

You guys say you can't trust Zona on the road. I can't exactly trust New England at home themselves.

THE PATRIOTS ARE NOT THAT GREAT THIS YEAR!!

They are HIGHLY overrated!
It's 21-0 NE and they're playing in a snowstorm. Seems like one team is not very comfortable in the elements. :D I guess the Cardinals are who we thought they were.

Doesn't Philly Get a spot if they win their last 2 and Tampa Bay,or Atlanta Lose 1 game? That what I though I heard

I haven't found any articles on the Patriots playoff permutations, but they don't look very good. If they and the Jets win out, which is likely, then the Jets have the tie breaker for the division.

If the Ravens and Colts win out, the Patriots lose the tie breaker for an at-large berth.

So the Patriots need either Indianapolis to lose to Tennessee next week (plausible) or the Ravens to lose to the Jaguars (unlikely), or they need the Jets to lose a game, but even if one of those teams lose, the Patriots would likely have to also hold a tie breaker advantage over Miami. They split with Miami and would have identical records in the division and conference if Miami wins out ( I think I just saw they are trailing by 3 in the 3rd quarter), so the tie breaker would be either record against common opponents or the combined records of teams they have both beaten, but I don't have the wherewithall to tally those up.

Update: An announcer on the Patriots game just said that Miami and the Jets both must lose a game for the Patriots to win the division, meaning his staff has determined that Miami otherwise holds the divisional tie breaker advantages with the Patriots, and the ESPN site says that Indianapolis is guaranteed of a wildcard spot regardless of what they do next week, meaning ESPN has determined that Indianapolis has insurmountable conference tie breaker advantages, so the Patriots need either to have BOTH the Jets and Miami to lose a game to let them win their division, or they need the Ravens to lose next week to a 5-10 Jacksonville team. And even if the Ravens lose, I think the Patriots still also would need to have Miami lose to survive the windcard tie-breaker

Bleak.

Kind of f-ed up that NE could go 11-5 and miss the playoffs while Arizona could go 8-8 and make them, especially after that 47-7 beatdown.

And now, bleaker. Miami beat KC, so now, for the Partiots to make it, they need to win next week and either:

1. The Jets lose to Seattle tonight and Miami loses to the Jets next week, making the Patriots the division champion, or,

2. Miami loses to the Jets and the Ravens lose to Jacksonville next week, giving the Patriots the last wildcard berth.

This is sounding like what the Redskins look at near the end of every season.

I's say the Vegas odds of the Patriots making the playoffs are no better than 10:1 against, and may be worse than that.

miami dolphins defense stayed at miami today as they escape 38-31. it's not going to be that much warmer next week so they better man up.
