NFL 2008-09 Season

A bit off target but "NFL" related none the less, a sportsbook perspective to the "non-touchdown" at the end of the Chargers/Steelers game.

ReviewJournal.com - Sports - Nullified TD a big deal to sports books, bettors

I agree the call was wrong by the officials. There was clearly no forward lateral pass and the interception should've counted as a TD.

With that said, I thought Polamalu should've just fell down or taken a knee. I didn't see the point in running the ball in for a TD when the game was already over and the clock had expired.

i agree. and instead of the NFL handing out so many fines to players, they need to concentrate on officiating. Not even replay is helping this situation. I understand they're human like everyone else but it's getting out of hand.

After the game the official even said he made the wrong call.

The Steelers won yesterday but those fans who bet on them not only lost, they were cheated out of their money.

Referee Scott Green admitted after the game that his crew not only blew a call that cost Troy Polamalu a touchdown on the final play, but they confirmed it by using instant replay.

The Steelers believe that was not the only miscarriage of justice by the officiating crew.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, in his opening postgame remarks, told reporters he would take questions "provided none of them are about the officials."

"I have never seen a game with 13-1 penalties," Tomlin said.

Actually, it was 13 for 115 yards against the Steelers and two for 5 yards against San Diego. At one point, Steelers chairman Dan Rooney left his box after a Willie Parker touchdown run was nullified by a holding penalty, and spoke with the league observer in the pressbox.

Steelers Notebook: Official admits mistake on play

The Eagles incapability to beating a lowly team like the Bengals vindicates that the Cowboys are a better team. :)

.... And this is not directed at you Rey....

For the last two games, I have PROVED MY POINT that the Raiders have NOT QUIT...but just keep bringing a knife to a gun fight(they have nothing else). I would hope that some of that bull**** talk will end because ANYONE that knows a spec of football and has seen my Raiders play...they have not quit...!

And I will admit that the Raiders have played with some purpose the last two weeks....so yes I will say that they haven't quit in the last two games... and I was wrong.
Cable in my mind somewhat is fitting the mold of the 49ers Mike Singletary, raw coaches who have an idea of what they want to accomplish, they just don't have the in-game nuances down yet. I could see that Raiders sneaking in a couple of wins before the end of the season.
But lets not kid ourselves, while the Dolphins have improved vastly from last season, they also nearly choked the game away at home against a bad Seahawks team last week.

The difference between the Dolphins and the Raiders is not talent...it is a VERY stable and excellent coaching staff and front office staff. Wayne Huizenga cares a great deal about the Dolphins success. Though he is very involved with the team, he is not meddling...like the Crypt Keeper we have in Oakland. Like I have said, we just don't have the weapons....bring knives to a gunfight.:(

It was a fumble recovery, NOT an interception by Polamalu.

Either way....WHY would the NFL care about the spread? THe REFS this year are a complete joke. What really pisses me off the most is, the League Office as no issues calling out players when they do wrong...but GOD FORBID a REF do wrong....

...what every is done.....just disappears....

LOL.:D

Or maybe he took the under.;):D

You guys do realize that the 11-10 final score has never, ever happened before in the history of the NFL!

Yesterday's tie between the Eagles and the Bengals was the first since 2002.

BTW Tom, even with the TD, they would have covered the under easily.
