NFL 2008-09 Season

Wow.

Jets win.

I did NOT see this coming.

Both teams have played a hell of a game.

Cassell putting up crazy numbers, Jets playing good early on, big comeback.

THIS WAS FOOTBALL AT ITS BEST!

Bill, I'm sorry that the Pats lost, but from what I saw, IF they don't win the division, they could be a dangerous Wild-Card team.

After the way I saw Cassel throw, they need to turn him loose ala Drew Bledsoe in 1996 or Brady last year- throw the ball and find the recievers.

IMO, they need to turn the other recievers loose.

Great game.

Tough loss, but I think there was definitely a silver lining in this one:

the continued development of Matt Cassel, and more importantly, Cassel doing it in the clutch.

BTW, WHEN will the NFL change this STUPID overtime rule, when a coin toss more times than not decides the game!!! (That's not to disrespect the Jets, who played a great game.....................kudos to them and their fans).

I agree on all counts Sabres. :up

IMO, the Pats face a must win, a week from Sunday in Miami.

I think NBC will regret passing up Jets/Titans (Just heard that, right now, they would be in line for the first-round byes) for Colts/Chargers.

9-0 vs. 7-3 OR the Panthers/Falcons game both got passed up for Colts/Bolts.

I know all about Madden's man-crush on Favre, but I STILL would rather see that once than three helpings of the Colts.

Nfl.com coverage not all it's cracked up to be. Crapped out during the Jets TD in the 4th qtr and again in OT. Did get to see Moss' TD though.

Jets-Titans wasn't an option, it was protected by CBS.

That was a great, high-scoring, pass-happy, entertaining game.

The only thing I wish is if the unis were different.

I miss the old-school Jet/Pat unis.

THOSE WERE AWESOME UNIS!

I do think it's dumb.

They should do what college football does; give BOTH teams a chance to score.

Pats had an excellent chance to stop the Jets in OT, they had a 2 nd and 15 and a 3rd and 15.
Farve made the plays to get them into Field Goal range.

We do NOT want the College rules for OT AT ALL ...

College needs to adjust thier OT rules to start the possession at the 50 yard line, so your not in FG range from the first play.
This would also make it better as you could continue to play the whole game....

Offense , Defense and Special teams.

Jets are definitely in the driver's seat in the AFC East.

They swept their divisional road games, they are 3-1 in the division and have the Bills and Dolphins both at home.

Patriots would have been only if Cassel knew how to throw a freaking deep ball.
The whole game Moss was wide open 1 v 1 matchup.
I can't wait for Tom to get back, this team needs him.

Our secondaries are just awful, we need Rodney to get back there, because clearly half of our secondaries are clueless.
Next year we need to get some good secondaries, plus a good QB, this is the last year for Cassel contract, his contract will expire and I doubt we will keep someone that can't throw an accurate deep ball.

God, I got angry watching my pats tonight...

Wow,
Your a tough evaluator.
Your season everyone thought was OVER when Brady went down.
This guy steps in, gets comfortable and is playing very good and has the team that could be way down in the standings has them in second place with the possibility of 1st with a win last night and all you can do is BLAME the guy .....

If I were a Pats fan and had these things happen, I would have been estatic to be in the playoff hunt , that would have been my thoughts when Brady went down, that there was no way were gonna make the playoffs this year and this guy has you right in the hunt.

Your Brutal .

Awesome post, Jimbo! :) :up

Week 11 Pregame Thoughts

1. It's amazing how competitve New England continues to play without Tom Brady and with a good portion of their team decimated by injuries.

2. The ultimate call in football is the decision to go for 2 and the win with time expiring or kick the extra point to tie and put the game into overtime. The Pats chose the conservative method and left their fate in the hands of a coin flip. Should they have pulled a Herm Edwards and "played to win the game" at the end of the 4th?

3. The Jets are in first place?! Wow. Seems like eternity since this has happened. Looks like all of their off-season signings are starting to pay off, including that Old Gunslinger nobody wanted.

4. Tony Romo should be back for Sunday night's game against the Skins. Will he save their season? It was amazing how awful they looked with Brad Johnson/Brooks Bolinger at QB.

5. The Saints and Chiefs game on Sunday has all the makings to be one of the most lopsided margins of defeat in Kansas City history. I think Drew Brees has a legitamite shot at besting Norm Van Brocklin's record of 554 yards in a 1951 game.

6. Keep an eye on Buffalo's weather for Monday Night. According to Weather Underground, they're calling for a low of 27°F and a 90% chance of snow. Heavy snow would be a perfect tribute to last year's epic "Snow Bowl" in Cleveland.

7. Curious to see what "Earth, Wind and Fire" can do to Baltimore's defense. If anyone can break the Ravens streak of holding opposing offenses to under 100 yards rushing, it's the New York Football Giants.

8. Who looks more like Fozzy Bear? Eric Mangini or Mike Leach?

9. I'm picking Detroit to stun the world and get their first win against the Panthers this week.

10. Despite harsh critics loathing the fact the Browns got 5 nationally televised games this year, they have played exceptionally well when under the national spotlight. Week 2 was a hard fought defensive struggle against Pittsburgh in hurricane conditions. Pitt won 10-6. During Week 6, the Browns delivered the only loss to the defending Super Bowl Champs by a score of 35-14. Week 10 featured the debut of Brady Quinn and a nail biting finish. In the end, Denver won 34-30. I hope for another fun game this Monday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
