NFL 2008-09 Season

5. The Saints and Chiefs game on Sunday has all the makings to be one of the most lopsided margins of defeat in Kansas City history. I think Drew Brees has a legitamite shot at besting Norm Van Brocklin's record of 554 yards in a 1951 game.

I guarantee this will not be the case. The Saints

are notorious for playing poorly in games they should win, and this season has been no exception (except of course against Oakland ;)).

1. It's amazing how competitve New England continues to play without Tom Brady and with a good portion of their team decimated by injuries.

The last five years (including two SB wins) the Pats have had a ton of injuries (usually the secondary is the hardest hit). But every Pats fan agreed that the deal breaker would be a Brady injury.....that hasn't been the case.

2. The ultimate call in football is the decision to go for 2 and the win with time expiring or kick the extra point to tie and put the game into overtime. The Pats chose the conservative method and left their fate in the hands of a coin flip. Should they have pulled a Herm Edwards and "played to win the game" at the end of the 4th?

In hindsight, I wish they did! :D

3. The Jets are in first place?! Wow. Seems like eternity since this has happened. Looks like all of their off-season signings are starting to pay off, including that Old Gunslinger nobody wanted.

I think it's time to talk about the Jets as a Super Bowl threat. I mean, why not?

4. Tony Romo should be back for Sunday night's game against the Skins. Will he save their season? It was amazing how awful they looked with Brad Johnson/Brooks Bolinger at QB.

Amen! Brady may be better than Romo, BUT Romo was actually missed more!!

Brees is still my choice for league MVP at this point.

6. Keep an eye on Buffalo's weather for Monday Night. According to Weather Underground, they're calling for a low of 27°F and a 90% chance of snow. Heavy snow would be a perfect tribute to last year's epic "Snow Bowl" in Cleveland.

THAT would be awesome!!!!!! :up

7. Curious to see what "Earth, Wind and Fire" can do to Baltimore's defense. If anyone can break the Ravens streak of holding opposing offenses to under 100 yards rushing, it's the New York Football Giants.

Why don't we check with Sabres on this one. :D

8. Who looks more like Fozzy Bear? Eric Mangini or Mike Leach?

LOL. Close, but I'll say Leach.

9. I'm picking Detroit to stun the world and get their first win against the Panthers this week.

Not a chance!

10. Despite harsh critics loathing the fact the Browns got 5 nationally televised games this year, they have played exceptionally well when under the national spotlight. Week 2 was a hard fought defensive struggle against Pittsburgh in hurricane conditions. Pitt won 10-6. During Week 6, the Browns delivered the only loss to the defending Super Bowl Champs by a score of 35-14. Week 10 featured the debut of Brady Quinn and a nail biting finish. In the end, Denver won 34-30. I hope for another fun game this Monday at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

The Browns may be 3-6, but their games have been exciting to watch! :up

Good stuff HD!! :up

I think it's time to talk about the Jets as a Super Bowl threat. I mean, why not?

Because I don't believe they are as good as the Steelers, Colts, Chargers, Dolphins, Titans or even the Patriots( I know they lost last night, but contrary to what ESPN, NFLN, NY Post report, the Pats did beat them in New York week 2).

If the Pats do win the division, I can't see how Jerod Mayo is not only the Defensive rookie of the year, but should get consideration for DPOY.

Bill, what did you think of the Mike Vrabel holding call?

BTW, WHEN will the NFL change this STUPID overtime rule, when a coin toss more times than not decides the game!!! (That's not to disrespect the Jets, who played a great game.....................kudos to them and their fans).

Oh, come on now, Bill, I was for the Pats almost as much as you were last night, and all I could think of on that last kick is that New England had 13 chances to stop the Jets, and they didn't do it.

Defense and special teams are just as important is offense. I just don't see how people can complain because one team didn't get the ball on offense.

I hope they don't change it, but if they do, God forbid if they do the college rules.

Play a 10 minute Overtime quarter.

That was a great, high-scoring, pass-happy, entertaining game.

The only thing I wish is if the unis were different.

I miss the old-school Jet/Pat unis.

THOSE WERE AWESOME UNIS!

Old School!? How old is YOUR school? :p

Those uniforms are from just a few years ago. If you want old school, look at the neuvo-retros the Jets are wearing now, or the throwbacks that the Pats are supposedly breaking out next year.

Hart,
it was definitely BS, even noted Pats hater Cris Collinsworth thought so.

But no excuses, the Pats shot themselves in the foot one too many times last night!

Brain,
you're absolutely right, the Pats couldn't stop the Jets when it counted. But I've ALWAYS thought the NFL OT rules were absurd, including when it HELPED the Patriots.

LMAO!!! :D

YES! The defense looked a bit tired in overtime.

A bit of foreshadowing- when Warren Moon went nuts and threw for 527 yards, it was against the Chiefs. And to think, they once had Neil Smith and the late Derrick Thomas on that team. Where have you gone, Marty Schottenheimer?

10. Despite harsh critics loathing the fact the Browns got 5 nationally televised games this year

Better than watching a kajillion games involving the Colts or Cownoys. Besides, I've seen worse- last year, the 4-12 Falcons got as many Monday Night games as the 13-3 Packers and 13-3 Cowboys COMBINED!

9. I'm picking Detroit to stun the world and get their first win against the Panthers this week.

HD, check your Buddy List. I think anders may have removed you.

COLTS? Are you serious? They are a ome-man gang, and can't run the ball. Peyton is not saving this team.

The Chargers have no defense.

I don't think they could beat Arizona, for that matter.
