I would like to point out, for Florida, Georgia, and USC, they have one automatic OOC game against a big name BCS school every year with their rivalry games. It just happens that those schools are in state. Personally, I do not think it matters. They are still playing FSU, Clemson, and Ga Tech every year, which nearly any school would brag about scheduling.

Exactly. as happened in this thread, someone pointed out a team playing FSU as playing a big ooc game.. FLA does that every year. But we dont get credit for it.

Lamar? So someone's team is playing Lamar and they've got nerve to question other teams schedule. Yes, Lamar.

Lamar? LMFAO.

That is not worse than Willam and Mary... I didnt even know there was such a team. I thought it was one we just all made up when talking about schools scheduling bad teams.

Just looking at some other future OOC schedules for SEC teams.

Ole Miss: At texas this season, an upcoming home and home with Ga Tech and Memphis (i cringed typing that).
Arkansas: A home and home with Rutgers, TCU, and Michigan
LSU: Home and home with Oklahoma, NC State, and Arizona State
Alabama: Va Tech and West Vg neutral, home and home with Mich State, and Ga Tech. Recently did a home and home with Penn State
Georgia: Home and home with Clemson, Ga tech rotate every year. Recently played Boise neutral.
Tennessee: At Oregon, Home and home with Uconn and Nebraska.

Just a glance, and yes there are many creampuff games scheduled that I did not mention, but find me a team without them. Lamar and UTSA anyone? On the road at South Alabama? I am happy for the Jags in pulling that one off, but why did Ok State agree to it?

Lamar exists. South Alabama played them last year, and it appears that Oklahoma State has both scheduled.

I would like to say thanks for getting this started early this season. :)

Here are the big opening games this year.

GA vs Clemson
Oklahoma st vs Miss st
LSU vs TCU
Alabama Vs VTech

Funny the 4 biggest games opening weekend are all SEC teams playing Major BCS conferences...

Go figure.

Did I miss any?

Maybe we can throw in FSU vs Pitt

Thats just opening weekend, Dont forget Tenn v Oregon and Texas V Ole Miss (Both of which are games the SEC team will likely lose but alas) (well Oregon maybe one open for loss, but I doubt Ole Miss can over come Texas)

Perhaps if sec teams would leave their home state more than once a century they could schedule some better teams.

One question, say those three schools did leave their home state and replaced those games, which teams could they schedule as replacements that would legitimately strengthen their schedule in your eyes? You have to admit, no matter where they are played, that is a good OOC game to have scheduled, and there are very few places or games that they could replace them with that would equal playing in your rivalry opponents home stadium.

U pick em.

I see the SEC as 3-1 in those games. The loss being MSU.

Lets play a game, for every team in your conference lets pick the biggest OOC game and compare

Fla - FSU
Tenn - Oregon
Ole Miss - Texas
GA V Clemson (and Gatech either or take your pick)
South Carolina - Clemson (or North Carolina you pick)
Vanderbilt - Wake Forest
Missouri - Indiana
Kentucky - Louisville (remember them?)
Alabama - VTech
LSu - TCU
aTm - 3 C-USA teams take your pick who you think is better
Miss St - OkST
Arkansas - Rutgers (i guess)
Auburn - Washington St

Those are in my opinion each SEC teams biggest OOC game this year.. Feel free to compare it to any conference you like.

See this I dont get either. It would be very hard to replace FLA playing FSU in Doak. Maybe a handful of teams could fill the void. The Ohio St, USC, Texas, Oklahoma. That's about it that I can think of. And even while it might replace the "Game" experience it would not replace the emotional experience for fans.

I know we are talking football and all but 9 SEC teams are in the CWS tournament. Just saying. ;)

and 9 teams made the Golf Tournament ;) 13 were in the regionals...

Dam SEC Biased in every sport.

Oh please, Toledo nor Tulsa are nothing but push overs for the big conferences. Toledo is a slouch, thats why they are where they are. 3rd or 4th best team in the MAC?

Hardly, they are picked to win it again this year, with a D that pretty much graduated last year.

Come on you are a smart guy you really want to compare Toledos schedule to FLAS? I'll give them credit for having FLA and Missouri but then they have no one else on the schedule. Missouri is a bottom tier SEC team, FLA well will either be in the middle or top. But even bottom Tier Missouri would be in the middle/top of the MAC..

Toledo will not play against a team higher ranked than FLA all year. FLA how ever will be playing quite possibly 4 top ten teams. (lsu, scar, ga, fsu) Toledo needs the help in schedule FLA doesn't. Now that is not to say I do not wish we would schedule bigger teams, I like the fact we added Miami this year. While not the power house of old, they certainly are better than toledo and a nice warm up before SEC play and it will be in Miami.

Miami last year was in the top of the ACC, and they also returned the most players of any ACC team.

As far as playing big games on the Road, FLA is doing that with Miami, and did it with ACC champion FSU last year. (yea we play FSU every year we are required to)

But the SEC does play big games with other teams, as much as the other big conferences do. Pick a conference big ten, pac12, acc, etc etc and you will find the same type of scheduling you do in the SEC.

Look at Ohio St

Buffalo (hey from the mac like toledo.. and worse record), San Diego St, Cal, Florida AnM.

FLA at least is playing 2 teams who have a chance at being conference champions in a major conference. (ok I laughed a little when I called the ACC major but it is what it is.)

WHERE did I say anything about comparing schedules ?
We were discussing scheduling TOUGH OOC games to start the year ... Nothing else.

You Fla team will be a 40 point pick in the first game .... I'll take that bet.

It's gonna be a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG year if the sec guys are starting already ......

It's a shame the sec guys don't start thier own thread so the other conferences can have a civil conversation.

We can't respond to conversation now?

I will gladly bow out and go to another forum for sports discussion if you guys are so touchy on friendly smack talk. Gheesh.

Don't have the site in front of me but read that Michigan picked up a nice CB recruit and the recruiting class of 2014 is looking real good, as with all recruiting classes hope it transfers to the field

Bring it on, I can talk smack with the best of them. I know the southern educational standards aren't high, ;) so just try to get the teams correct and keep it on the subject being ranted about.

However I am going to bow out for a few days as I'm on voluntary storm duty with the states catastrophe team and dealing with claims processes for people that have lost everything, I'm liable to say something I probably shouldn't or go on a long rant.

True lets just compared the first 2 games instead of the entire schedule.

So FLA Plays Miami in the first 2 games. Toledo plays Missouri.

Fla plays Toledo so the first game is a wash no?

So that being said they seem matched. Miami one of the top 4 in the ACC and Missouri the bottom of the SEC.. Acutally FLA has the better game of the two ;)
