BTN will now be carried in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia (New York, Baltimore and Washington DC television markets). Offhand, this is going to have a huge impact on the ACC and Big East.

Equally important is how this will affect the Big Ten Hockey Conference which will be playing their inagural season in 2014. Offhand, I'm not sure if Maryland or Rutgers fields a hockey team...but they will now have money (and a television network) to support such a program. We shall see.

Interesting,MASN is part of our RSN package here. It's possible the BTN could be as well.I will never figure out how all the designated market area works lol.At one point we couldn't watch the Bobcat games but get the Nationals and Reds baseball.

If you have DIrectv BTN is carried nationwide. Dish decided to got he "cable route" and only offer it as part of a package in the Big 10 states and sports pack elsewhere

BTN being carried in the basic package in the new States is not a give. They still have to get the carriers to agree. For example, BTN is not basic in Philly, even though Penn St is a member.

I believe that's because the Philly market wasn't considered part of the Big 10 territory. I read the addition of Rutgers will allow them to fill in that gap now.

Start out the day watching the Michigan/ Ohio state rivalry documentary that HBO did, Go Blue!

If you keep having to tell people that you're the "greatest rivalry in sports" than you know you're not.

I don't know about all of sports, bit in college football it probably is Auburn/Alabama.

I don't think you could name just one as the greatest. I would put OU/Texas up against any of them and if conference expansion hadn't killed it OU/Nebraska.

To every fanatic fan, their team is always part of "the greatest rivalry," when in truth only two sets of fans give a crap while the remaining world couldn't care less (unless they've got money down). ;)

Excellent point. Down here, no one cares about Michigan-Ohio State or Oklahoma-Texas. It is about Miami-FSU or more so, FSU-Florida. And I am sure the same applies in reverse in those part of the country.

UNC vs NC.St in football! While it isn't the huge crowds like a big10,sec, etc,it is one of the great old rivalries.

The biggest rivalry in college football history is the team who is playing Michigan...Michigan vs Ohio State, Michigan vs Notre Dame, Michigan vs Michigan State, etc. You get the picture. You're always "The Game" when you're the #1 winningest program in college football history (sans the Bill Martin/Rich Rodriguez experiment). Anyway, if anyone says anything other than Michigan-Ohio State (#1 vs. #5 Bitter Conference Rivals) you're insane..literally drooling, babbling incoherently bonkers.

A distant second (take you pick) is Michigan vs Notre Dame (#1 vs. #2), Notre Dame vs. USC (#2 vs. #7 and lots of history), Oklahoma vs. Texas (#3 vs. #4 Conference Rivals), Oklahoma vs. Nebraska (#3 vs #8 Old Conference Rivalry), Michigan vs. Nebraska (#1 vs. #8 New Conference Rivals) and Alabama vs. Tennessee (#6 vs #9). The rest (in no particular order) are Florida vs. Florida State, Florida State vs. Miami (FL), Alabama vs. Auburn and a dozen others in the same category. These include games like Michigan vs. Michigan State that people care about regionally...not nationally unless both teams are ranked in the Top 10. Over the years I have attended probably about fifteen Michigan-Ohio State games in person...but I have also been to two Alabama-Auburn games ('82 and '83), Georgia-Florida ('82), Florida State-Miami and Florida-Florida State ('93-'95), and Texas vs. Oklahoma ('09 Dallas). Great rivalries, but none can match the emotion, intensity and tradition of UM vs. OSU.

Top 10 Programs after 143 years of football:

1 Michigan 0.73570 895 310 36 1241
2 Notre Dame 0.73138 853 300 42 1195
3 Oklahoma 0.71761 821 307 53 1181
4 Texas 0.71622 858 330 33 1221
5 Ohio State 0.71315 825 316 53 1194
6 Alabama 0.70986 814 320 43 1177
7 Southern Cal 0.70270 779 314 54 1147
8 Nebraska 0.70121 846 349 40 1235
9 Tennessee 0.68719 794 347 53 1194
10 Florida State 0.66414 473 235 17 725

Anyway, I'm getting ready for the Michigan vs. Ohio State game just like everyone else in the country. BTW, I hate that Urban guy...what parent names their child after an adjective? Well, I guess it sure beats naming your kid Woody.

Kick off time!!!

Like others have said. It depends on where you are and really who you cheer for.

IMO, it's the Iron Bowl. For me, it's not even close.
