I see it as a very real possibility. The computers love Florida, even IF Oregon makes it to the Pac 12 CG, if Florida beats FSU, and ND loses, the computers look to give Fla a shot at the SEC champion.

I wouldnt have figured it a "real" possibility a few weeks ago, but now? Maybe.

Of course they love FLA. It has not been pretty but they have beat 4 top ten teams, and 2 more top 25 teams. Even beating the team that beat Alabama, in TEXAS! And after beating FSU that will add a top 5 team to the mix. FLAs only loss was to the SEC East champion, our second biggest rival.

Although we have a better shot if Gatech beats GA and then GA beats Alabama. FLA v Notre Dame ;)

If Maryland was better on the field they wouldn't be so desperate for more money.I say let them go.They just get hammered in the big10 anyway.Bring on Uconn!

Financially, it's mutually beneficial to the Big Ten because they pickup the Baltimore (Maryland), Delaware and DC markets all the way down to Richmond VA. That's a lot of households that now require the Big Ten Network. Sure, they'll get lambasted until they improve...but at least they'll have some money to pay the bills. Rutgers is probably next in the queue for the Northeast markets. Personally, Penn State and Nebraska were good fits. Maryland and Rutgers...never thought I would see the day.

Report: UConn could announce ACC move Tuesday

http://tracking.si.com/2012/11/19/uconn-acc-move-realignment/?sct=cf_t2_a6

Swofford is worried that they need to make a statement of solidarity quickly. I don't know about tomorrow but I've heard it could be done before the end of the week.

The Big 12 and SEC are kind of ticked off, as they were satisfied with where they are now and didn't want to expand anymore, but they may be forced to if something enticing presents itself.

I'm not sure this would make the sec expand. They are at 14 and it would take some new markets. Like Virginia (tech ) or North Carolina (state).

I think they stand still unless it becomes apparent that the acc as a whole is about to rupture, and I just don't see it yet. Now the Big 12 may feel the need, if so they might go after some of those acc schools such as Fsu and Clemson. That might kick start it.

This like it is now, won't. IMO anyway.

People in Stillwater, are saying it appears everyone is waiting to see what the Big 12 does. I think the Big 12 stands firm at 10. Almost everyone is happy with the 10 team round robin and don't think a CCG is going to be needed for the forth coming playoffs. I think if we did go after some version of FSU and Clemson/GT/Louisville or all of the above, then the SEC would make a move to get into VA and NC.

The Big 12 and SEC get along fairly well now and have their own game plan, so muddying up with more expansion probably isn't on the table, at least not yet.

The Big East may really be in trouble as Brett McMurphy is saying Boise St and San Diego St are talking over options to stay in the MWC and including the return of BYU to the MWC. Since the Big East didn't get a guaranteed bowl tie, they would be no better off moving.

They would be better off staying put IMO. The benefit is most likely gone.

I never thought it was worth them moving once it was announced there would be no Automatic Qualifiers. I definitely think they would be better served staying put now. The problem is now they are on the hook for a larger fee to abandon the Big East, than if they had done it before the season started.

Maryland and Rutgers DO NOT belong in the Big Ten, maybe academically, but NOT sports-wise.

If the Big 12 expands, it only wants teams that will increase their TV contracts. Cincy won't do that. Cincy and Louisville will not activate the contract escalators and will cause everyone to take a smaller payout from the bowl monies.

There are a lot of what ifs being discussed in the Big 12 offices, but currently they are happy at 10 unless a couple of certain big name programs become available that will increase profits. The conference schedule is already tough enough with 9 out of the 10 teams ranked throughout the season, no need to add unless the money is right.

I guess it all depends on what the Big Ten does since need another team to balance the Leaders and Legends divisions...and how the other conferences respond.

Rutgers accepts invitation to join the Big Ten Conference

Well, I guess we'll find out the fallout shortly...

As the Big East was being picked apart, Rutgers was looking for a way out and a new place to show off a football program that has been resurrected in the past decade.

Not only did Rutgers find that escape hatch, the Scarlet Knights ended up in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in college sports.

Rutgers joined the Big Ten on Tuesday, leaving the Big East behind and cashing in on the school's investment in a football team that only 10 years ago seemed incapable of competing at the highest level.

The move follows Maryland's announcement a day earlier that it was heading to the Big Ten in 2014. The additions give the Big Ten 14 schools and a presence in lucrative East Coast markets.

BTN will now be carried in New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia (New York, Baltimore and Washington DC television markets). Offhand, this is going to have a huge impact on the ACC and Big East.

Equally important is how this will affect the Big Ten Hockey Conference which will be playing their inagural season in 2014. Offhand, I'm not sure if Maryland or Rutgers fields a hockey team...but they will now have money (and a television network) to support such a program. We shall see.
