ESPN reportedly picks up another bowl’s broadcast rights | CollegeFootballTalk

Dang it, was really hoping someone else would get the broadcast of the Big12/SEC game instead of espn. $80 million to match the Rose Bowl payout. Looking like Jerry Jones is gonna get this game locked up in Dallas too.

why would you want someone else? Fox sucks, CBS sucks - they both alone piss me off to no ends cause they cut to commercials way too quick and come back way too late, many times in the middle of plays. I'd much rather have games on ESPN which is why I'm glad the ACC has a contract with them like they do. Also don't forget how many games they can pick up now on ESPN3 which is great for an alternative if you can't get behind a tv!

Because I think espn coverage sucks! I would rather have Fox. I get tired of the abc and espn crews talking about every other conference or game out there instead of concentrating on the game they're supposed to be calling. Espn 3 requires a computer and if I'm going to use my computer, there is 99% chance I will have a tv there too. Now if espn would open their phone and tablet app to people that actually get espn 3 thru ISP and don't tie it to people that have tv with their 3 special providers it might useful.

While I do admit ESPN crews do talk about many things aside from current game that's nothing vs missing many plays cause I'm forced to watch a commercial. Don't even get me started on the drama from Penn St last year as it started unfolding and how much every sports caster talked about it during every game. The news broke on a Wed or Thursday - VT was playing that Thursday night and wouldn't ya know it they talked about Penn state every second they could - to the point I was sick of it and started sending emails in and tried to call and complain. I do love ESPN3 though, I have comcast and it works great for me, watch a ton of games on it!!

I don't have a problem with Fox, FX or FSN. Many of the Big 12 games are on them and I don't remember missing any plays etc. It really pissed me off trying to watch OSU/KSU last year and all Musburger and his cronies wanted to do was give us play by play of the LSU/Bama snooze fest. If I had wanted to watch that game, I would have tuned to CBS. It became a regular occurrence, that I have become tired of. I have never really cared for espn's coverage of the BCS games either.

espn 3 is fine, but it really isn't much use for me unless they open it up on phones and tablets as all Big 12 games are on tv. I do watch replay's on espn 3 sometimes during the week. It gets to the point that most times I just mute the tv and listen to the radio broadcast, but the time delay makes that hard too.

Because Ohio State is on probation, does that mean they won't be in any polls as well?

I thought teams could be ranked but just wouldn't play in bowl games.

AFCA policy bars schools under major NCAA or conference sanctions from receiving votes. Schools affected this season are North Carolina, Ohio State and Penn State. Central Florida will remain eligible until the NCAA rules on the school’s appeal.

OK, thanks!

I guess it's the AP or Harris poll where they can show up...

How in the world they put FSU at #7 is beyond me after they just lost one of their top players and whom they were going to fall on for running the ball. I'd like to see them undefeated come Nov when they come to Blacksburg should be a nice match up when they play an undefeated VT team as both could be in the top 10 by then!

Polls are pretty meaningless until the 3rd or 4th week, when most of the real games start.

OU will be a tough call, they have been hit hard this week with juco receiver transfers not making summer grades and the receivers that Stoops suspended are still ineligible until Stoops decides they can play. He said they will be out for many games and I'm hearing at least 6 games for Jaz Reynolds which is really gonna hurt them. Ben Habert the senior center has called it quits after not fully recovering from neck surgery.

I kinda agree but at the same time a high starting point hurts good teams from poor choosing for those polls. FSU being #7 makes me laugh, they again lost one of their best players so I believe votes were taken before this happened. They moved up 1 slot last year before dropping out of the polls a few weeks later so I don't see how they are picked this far up in the polls.

Former Ohio St, Alabama WR Carter to FAU - Yahoo! Sports

Former Ohio State and Alabama receiver Duron Carter has transferred to Florida Atlantic.
FAU athletic department spokeswoman Katrina McCormack confirmed that Carter practiced with the Owls on Saturday.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel first reported Carter had enrolled at Florida Atlantic.
Carter, the son of former NFL star Cris Carter and a Boca Raton native, played his freshman season in 2009 with Ohio State.
He left for academic reasons and played 2010 at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. He transferred to Alabama last year but never became eligible to play.

At some point.......nah.

Shallow is being nice. OU was getting very thin in the receiving department. This is a much needed addition for them. Hopefully they don't lose anymore players before the season starts.

Penn State receiver Justin Brown transfers to Oklahoma. Good news, because OU is pretty shallow at wide receiver.

Penn State players are flying the coop. Their backup QB Rob Bolden signed with LSU. Looks like he'll be a buffer between Zach Mettenberger and two redshirt freshman. Better than nothing.

Any Texas A&M or Missouri fans in the forum?

If so, I am curious, what are you most looking forward to with the move to the SEC? Any stadiums you are particularly excited to go to, or any teams you are really looking forward to playing?

Also, how do you think you will fare in the first season?
