That good ol sec bias apparently can't see the point. Playing those games late in the season as opposed to early in the season does have an effect on the rankings and how people vote. Most of the voters in the polls don't follow college football and shouldn't be voting. Appearance is everything, they look and see that woohoo Alabama won in week 11, damn they really are good, but oh dear Oregon lost in week 11, they must not be that good. Nobody looks to see Alabama was playing a mediocre Georgia Southern and Oregon was playing a very good USC. Considering the BCS rankings don't start until week 7 or whatever, it does make a difference.
Also you heard me right, get over yourself, the Big 12 conference schedule is just as tough as the sec's
The Big 12 is certainly allowed to change who it plays and when if it so chooses.
and really the Big 12 is as tough a conference schedule as the SEC?
I mean last year FLA had to play, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and South Carolina. 5 top 25 teams. Each of those teams (with the exception of LSU and GA) went on to win there bowl game against OOC teams like
Nebraska, Virginia, and FLA beating Ohio state.
GA lost in OT to Mich State (the second best team in the Big 10 GA not even top 4 in the SEC)
I mean can you find me a Big 12 schedule with as many ranked teams? 3 of those teams FLA played remained ranked in the Top 10 after the end of the season, Only 1 fell out of the top 25 )at number 27 Auburn.
The SEC finished with 4 Top Ten teams, and 1 team top 25. That's 5 out of 12 teams ranked, with 5 teams ranked higher then the big east and acc champion!
Lets look at the Big 12..
They had 1 team in the top Ten. OkSt. Then we have to go down to #13 for the next team Baylor, (who lose RG3 and will not even be on the map next year), then Kansas State. Thats it. 3 ranked teams only 1 in the top 10 and you tied with the SEC with 4 teams each with losing records.
Both the Big 10 and Pac 10 had more ranked teams left at the end of the year and better records.. Just saying.
Not to mention No other conference can say 5 Different teams in the last 10 years have won the national title.. Big 12 has been Texas and Oklahoma, (losing BOTH title games they played in) Against the SEC none the less.....
The Big 12 has really 3 teams (with OkSt only being a recent addition to this topic) who are national contenders. And 2 of those teams Texas and Oklahoma have been in a slump for the last many years. The SEC has 3 teams currently in the spotlight (LSU, Alabama and Arkansas) with 3 other teams nipping at the heals (Ga, SC, and FLA).
I have trouble finding any team other than OkSt who I think would have any chance at a national title shot next year. In the SEC I have about 5 teams who could do the deed.
