I take that back. It will still certainly be one of those, but you can almost without a doubt include the new bowl that the Big12 and SEC have created.

I still think the Big 12/SEC game will end up as the Cotton Bowl. The SEC gets another game for recruiting in Texas and the Big 12 gets a game in their home territory.

I thought it was specifically announced as a separate game that they will control, and not the bowls.

Now that I read more though, or I had forgotten, they MAY let the bowls have a shot at it in some way. If so, the Cotton Bowl is the safe bet since it "sort of" already fits the description.

I can't imagine how the University Presidents thought all this time that they were making MORE money with the bowls than with a playoff set up.
simple, because they money wasn't split evenly, so the major conferences had no reason to switch.

With a playoff, they have to share revenue more equitably like they do with B-Ball

late? We normally beat up the FCS teams the first 2-3 games of the year :p End of the year is usually the rivalry games and conf games ;P

Hmm.... How about Jacksonville State @ Florida November 17, 2012 or the week before November 10, 2012 when the Ragin Cajuns of Louisiana visit Florida. That's a tough run of opponents there that will really hurt Florida's chances of dropping in the polls the last 3 weeks of the season.

They have become more spread out through the season, but I wont make excuses for that. The core of the SEC schedule itself, and the big OOC games that most of the main players take, more than make up for it.

That's what I'm thinking. Jones will throw lots of $$$ at them in order to host it in Jerry-World.

Thats not the norm. usually like FLA has 2-3 warm up home games every year before the real season starts. Kind of unusual of a schedule for them.

Look at the past schedules, the sec teams all play weak out of conference cream puffs the week before rivalry week for at least the past 5 years.

Furman @ Florida Nov 19,2011
Appalachian State @ Florida Nov 20, 2010
Florida International @ Florida Nov 21, 2009
The Citadel @ Florida Nov 22, 2008

Alabama hosted Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Chattanooga and Arkansas State before rivalry week the past few years.

I don't have a problem if teams want to schedule the cream puffs but do it the first 3 weeks not at the end of the season. Everyone knows a late season loss hurts more, the sec has taken the weak route to insure they don't lose points at a critical time. If they're so tough play the tough games when it really matters like everyone else.

I think they have sufficiently proven their "toughness", cream puffs more scattered than normal or not.

they have?
hmm... final games of the Season....

Alabama-Auburn
Florida-Florida State
South Carolina-Clempson
Georgia-Georgia Tech
LSU-Arkansas

yep, fool of creampuffs :p

You're arguing the opposite of the resident Hokie fan that complains his school plays (and loses to) tough team to start the season. I would think Alabama's handling of the Nittany Lions to start a season is more impressive than at the end.

But if we're talkign about pre-rivalry week, lets take a peek at the Big 12

Oklahoma-Iowa St
Oklahoma St-Iowa St (cowboys took a week off before the OU game)

The Texas schools save a creampuff for the week after they play each other
final game:
Texas A&M-Northwestern
Texas-Baylor

I didn't say the last game of the season, I said the end of the season and it is common knowledge that losing late hurts you more in the crappy poles than losing early. Their just manipulating the system scheduling cream puffs late, so they don't run the risk of losing late and falling out of a favorable ratings position. The sec conference schedule is no tougher than the Big 12 or Big 10's and everyone's rivalry game is tough, hence the reason they have become rivalries.

Other than the aggies, those are CONFERENCE games or bye weeks. Nothing you can do about those. The league sets the conference schedule and bye weeks vary every year. Last time I looked Northwestern was a Big 10 school, kind of a step up from Georgia Southern.

Okay, the conference sets the schedule, but it does accomidate the schools, and is why Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas have confernece games at the end but South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia don't. I'm sure the Big 12 is as accomidating.

But is the Big 12 OOC any better than the SEC's? Sure, Oka St. played Georgia a few years ago, but that means Georgia played Oka St. Georgia also opened with Boise St. this past year. Alabama played Penn St.

Who did Okahoma St. play OOC last year? Wasn't it Tulsa, LA-Layfette, and Arizona?

That's right, a mid major Conference USA runner up, a cream puff and a Pac 12 school and all of them the first 3 games of the season. I really don't care who anyone plays out of conference, everyone's ooc schedule has gone to crap anymore, but playing the easy game in the last 3 weeks is a cop out, to keep from running the risk of a late loss that can't be recovered in the poles.

oh come on, the "we play our creampuffs early in the season" is as bad an excuse as "we don't play as well in warm weather" that others around here use.

Whether or not you play tough teams early or late in the season makes no difference, you still have to win them.

Exactly. If you don't win them you don't go. Ok State should know that better than anyone.

The SEC conference schedule is no tougher then the big 12? Do you mean out of conference schedule? In that case you may have a valid point but certainly not conference schedule.
