NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

And the same thing is said about Notre Dame every few years.

Polls are nothing but popularity contests, which is why we need a 16-team playoff like every other NCAA football division from III up to I-AA.

It does always happen with Notre Dame, but until recently USC has been earning their spot in the rankings.

The Buckeyes will wear throwback uni's for the game against Michigan. The 2009 installment of "The Rivalry" marks the 90th anniversary of Ohio State's first victory over Michigan. The first victory dating back to 1919 when three-time All-American captain Chic Harley led the Buckeyes to a win in Ann Arbor.

Here's a sneak peak at the uni's....

These are actually part of the *NEW* Nike pro combat series of uniforms that some schools including Florida will be wearing during a game this year.

I can't believe that Tebow will be playing his final home game in this Fugly uniform.

TCU's look like something a cartoon character would wear and LSU's are just strange looking.

Oregon and Iowa each are ranked higher than USC in the computer portion of the BCS rankings, but ranked below them in the two polls and overall. The only other national contender being slighted by the polls is Cincinnatti, which is 3rd in the computer rankings but only 5th in the polls and overall.

Speaking of jerseys. Did anyone see the camo jerseys South Carolina and Maryland are wearing Saturday? Apparently some of the jerseys will be sold and the money will go to the Wounded Warrior project.

WTF!? :down

LSU should be able to kick the crap out of whoever they're playing when they wear these atrocious looking things - the opponent will be laughing so hard they won't be able to function.

Frickin' Nike...

Is Washington going to wear LSU's uniforms?

EXACTLY! USC lost two first round picks to the draft in 2006, but it didn't hurt them the next year. They lost two more in 2007 and four in 2008. It still didn't hurt them. They went from Palmer to Leinart to Sanchez at QB. They've just been reloading.

My thinking going into this season was that Caroll had a system in place, recruited to it, and USC would still be an elite team this season. They lost three more first round picks last spring. Apparently, it's finally caught up to them.

The Mountain West Conferences proposes a playoff system from 2010 through 2013.

I like their proposal, but the only change I would want in addition is to increase the field to the top ranked 16 teams, not 8. Would only involve one more week of play and would certainly level the playing field. This would be easy to accomplish if some of the current 87,000+ bowls were picked to host even if it means some of the (questionable) "bowl eligible" team have to stay home and play with themselves. :)

The way the NCAA defines "bowl eligible" is a JOKE, IMO, a "non-losing season" is the same thing as a "winning season."

The MWC proposal is a great starting place, finally someone has the 'nads to put the proposal on the table, formally.
