NCAA Football 2009-10 Season

It's a wee bit late....but so be it....after a long hibertation...

Thoughts on CFB Week 2:

1. Congrats to Central Michigan and Houston....unlike most Mickey Mouse schools, they founds ways to win, which brings me to...

2. Fresno State...they seem now to find ways to lose to games that before the "epic" USC game a few years back they found ways to win.

3. Give the Big Ten this much, their games have been very entertaining this year.

4. UNC and UCONN sent college football back 50 years with what they put on the field yesterday.

5. After getting clobbered by a Hawaii team that barely beat Arkansas St., Washington State's last realistic chance for a win this season is next weeks game against SMU in the Palouse.

6. As good as the MWC as last year, it might be even stronger this season.

7. I think it's 50-50 that Dan Hawkins last the season in Boulder.

8. Despite the mismatch..after overcoming some first half miscues...it was nice to see Texas play in Laramie, WY.

Why's that surprising? South Carolina lost anyway, so it wasn't an upset.
I didn't think it was surprising either, Georgia's defense has sucked for the last couple years. The fans have been hollering for CMR to fire Willie for a while.

And South Carolina hasn't been good for a while.

Sorry...I meant to say the #3 kid that played RB with the great hands....wow is that kid good!

Brandon Saine
He really impressed me the first year he got there, but he's been playing behind others for the most part, Chris Wells mostly ..... I'm not sure why he's not running the ball more, Tress seems to like Herron better, Saine always ran hard when I saw him play, I think I would split time between them if it were me.

Saine was running that old USC / Reggie Bush play, rolling out of the back field and down the sideline.

On a WR/Slot recvr side of things, Sanzenbacher is a very reliable guy, but lacks break away speed.

Possey is very fast and then there's the freshman that I want to see more of play, Duron Carter, Yes, he's the son of Chris Carter and VERY talented, played last week and made a few very good catches.

I don't know how much he got on the field last night, I don't recall the announcing crew even mentioning his name.
Keep an eye on him though.

I wonder when the Buckeye's will get a new Offensive coordinator.
Playing this game is hard enough, but playing with only 3 downs should not be allowed ......
If you happen to notice, on first down on EVERY first down for years they have run the ball into the line up the middle and usually gain 0 to 1 yard.
This has been going on for as long as I can remember....

I would like to see a version of the spread offense, not nessasarily the all spread all the time, but there are teams that we should be looking at and run some of the same plays.

Florida would be a good place to start, Toledo runs a very interesting offense with Coach Beckman (former Ok St. coach) and there are several others.
Lets run some creative plays.

Why is it Ohio State refuses to run any screens, you've got speed in the back field, get them in space with the ball.

Wow not surpriseing that OSU lost. They cant seem to put away the big games. It is surpriseing how they didnt get blown out. Although USCs offense could not seem to find anything that worked. Barkley looked rattled most of the game but in the end I think he finnaly came through. Was OSUs defense that good, or is USCS offense just that new?

I really hope USC runs the tables this year, and Texas loses. Id love for a FLA vs USC championship. To many USC fans talking smack all over the UF board on ESPN.coms website, id love to finnally shut them up.

I think Barkley was a bit shaken throughout the game. First road game on a national stage is a big deal though. I haven't seen your Gators schedule an OOC team on the OOC's team's turf, however ;)

Whats with the bogus Intentional Grounding call ?
The USC QB did that ALL NIGHT with out getting called.

The officiating looked a bit suspect in the game, didn't it? :D

The wife is a big Buckeye fan and we were wondering why Tressel didn't run out the clock before half-time.

As far as the ND and UM show went, it appears that its going to be a long season for Irish fans, but maybe not so long for Chuckie. (I'm betting he loses some weight, from the way he has been sweating the "easy" part of the schedule!) He thought he had a guaranteed win scheduled, but then again, he thought he was a good coach as well. :D Bring back Dr. Lou! :)

imo it doesn't make much of a difference that ND lost, but more so how they played. They looked GREAT on offense, and I think that might shut a few people up if they go undefeated til the USC game.

Did you watch any of the USC QB throws throwing it away ?

That was what I was thinking, the USC qb was tossing out of bounds all night long and no call? HUH? Looked like Big East officiating to me, where being blind and ignorant of rules is a prerequisite. :)

If you are going to make a call, at least make it on both teams the same way. That is all I want to see, no more, no less.

Or was it that UM had a pretty lacking defense? They are better than last year, but that is not saying a lot, is it? :)

Going undefeated after you just lost to a mediocre school is pretty hard to do, so not going to hold my breath on that one. Also, getting past Purdue is always a challenge. Their "easy" schedule that they have scheduled may not prove to be all that easy after all.

My expectations are to see at best a 5-7 schedule and the masses running through the streets, looking for Charlie's head on a platter. :D

Carolina wins it after UConn recovered an onside kick. Whew! That was grand larceny, but it made my day. :D

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Bring it on, Anders, I deserve it.

As for UConn, I think you would agree that our defenses are on par. With as much hype as yours has gotten, that's good news for us.

That was going to be a tough loss either way. I'm just glad we pulled it out. UConn's defense was good, although our offense shouldn't be THAT bad. I didn't know you guys had Greg Lloyd Jr. I used to love watching his father play. The young one can play too. I can see him playing on Sundays.

Always good to beat Notre Dame. How good is Forcier going to be the next 3 seasons. Great arm, remarkable poise, and intelligent. The sky's the limit for that kid.

GO BLUE!!!

3 in the top 5! Dont you guys count out ole miss. I am afraid of playing them in the SECCG. They are dangerous and very underestimated. Alabama is a bit over hyped. And what has penn state done to be ranked so high? Aside from the buckeyes losing.

One thing is for sure. FLA better run the tables this year. With the fight for 2nd and 3rd right now if FLA loses they will certainly miss a title shot. I am going on a limb and saying Ole Miss Beats out Bama and LSU and will face FLA in the SEC title game.. Man thats going to be hell..

I honestly do not think you have anything to worry about with ole miss. They will not be there. I may be the only one that thinks that, but I dont.
