NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

This is looking like another Super Saturday.

OU/Texas, LSU/Florida are the highlight games, but there are other good games to pay attention to:

Nebraska-Texas Tech- You think Bo Pelini would still rather be at LSU? This game could give him nightmares for years.

Northwestern/Michigan State- Winner goes to the Capital One Bowl!

Oklahoma State/Missouri- Over/Under- 90 points combined?

Arizona State/USC- With Maualaga hurt and Mark Sanchez a little banged up, I might call for the straight up upset.

I'll give the ShortHorns credit for going up to Boulder and kicking Colorado's butt. That ain't easy. Texas is NOT who I thought they were. They're better.

But since Bob Stoops arrived, when OU comes in to the game ranked higher in the polls (which is almost every year, despite Mack Brown's legendary recruiting classes), it's OU 6, Texas 2. The last time OU came in ranked #1, it was OU 65, Texas 13.
I agree about Stoops! I honestly can't stand mack brown! I mean this in no offense to OU. You are correct all the recruting classes that TEXAS has had~! OU has taken alot of Texas players that it seems no other Texas schools have wanted and won with them!

Arizona St over USC? Surely you jest. USC might not win by 40, as they otherwise would, but they will not lose. Arizona St has gone 4-6 since starting 8-0 last year. Reality has set in.

Kentucky better not lose to the old ball coach this time.

Well Franklin has been fired from the O.C. position at auburn. Man Tubby really eats through cordinators.

Not really a suprise that it happened, but suprised by the timing somewhat.

I warned everyone before the season- Auburn's offense wasn't that good.

Turns out I was right.

(I initially thought Texas and Auburn were ranked too high- Texas has proven me wrong, Auburn has proven me right)

well since this is the week that starts the big 12 kill off
i'll finish up the picks for you :)

and i'll place the teams like this even though Oklahoma is probably the best all around team
Oklahoma Vs Texas = Texas
Oklahoma Vs Texas Tech = Oklahoma
Oklahoma Vs Oklahoma State = Oklahoma
Texas Vs Oklahoma State = Texas
Texas Vs Texas Tech = Texas
Texas Vs Missouri = Missouri
Big 12 CG Texas Vs Missouri = Texas

if the games go this way theres a chance of two teams going 12-1 & one going 11-1 and getting left out of the BCS

clearly Oklahoma State has the toughest remaining schedule while Missouri has the easiest

hmm.. so you think missouri will beat texas at teaxs, but then lose in the big 12 CG in kansas city, missouri's backyard?

From what I saw in the LSU game, maybe they should fire the D.C. too.

As an Auburn fan, I couldn't be happier with the defense this year. They're pretty much the only reason we've won the 4 games we have won. If the offense could have stayed on the field for more that 90 seconds at a time during the LSU game, the defense would have looked much better towards the end of the game.

The defense can't be expected to hold up when they're on the field for 52 minutes of a 60 minute game (I'm using made up numbers to make a point about the disparity between the amount of time the D has played vs. the O.). Without offensive control of the ball, our D gets pounded on way more than they should and it's been that way every game this season.

As to Franklin, I think his firing is a little premature and will probably cost Auburn one of the best recruiting classes they've had in a while.

I'm glad to hear you're happy with the defense. I'm not sold on LSU's young QBs at all, that's why I assumed AU defense wasn't that good.

Tubby knows what he's doing. ;)

60 points for Texas Tech against Nebraska?

Missouri didn't score 60 on them , Texas Tech has a powerful offense but hasn't put 60 on anyone yet. Nebraska had a bad loss last week and will remember the loss 70-10 to TT 4 years ago. i look for a closer game 38-45 or 38-52 maybe

I think he meant Over/Under=2 teams combined score. Oklahoma will beat Texas. Too much rides on the Texas quarterback. Remember Colorado has lost 6 interior lineman since the start of the season, they aren't going anywhere this year. And I'm their biggest fan. Texas without a running back is Texas without a running back.:D

It's nice to see a marquee early game for a change. I'm really looking forward to the Texas-Oklahoma game!

That being said, today is loaded with intriguing matchups:

Notre Dame-North Carolina
Purdue-Ohio St.
Penn St.-Wisconsin
LSU-Florida
Oklahoma St.-Missouri
Michigan St.-Northwestern
Colorado-Kansas
Tennessee-Georgia
Texas Tech-Nebraska

Today certainly has a decided Big XII flavor.

mccoy, you're Mr. LSU.

How nervous/hopeful/skeptical are you about the Florida game?

Hopeful that LSU comes out and shows that their defense is the real thing and that they have a young QB who is up to the task of playing week in and week out in the SEC.

Skeptical that this is not the case, Florida will be fired up at home to play the defending NC, and the Swamp will be too much for my Tigers.

Anything can happen however. More excited than nervous. :)
