NCAA Football 2008-09 Season

Most teams only play one non conference road game. USC does take all comers. Not only did they go to Virginia this year and host Ohio St, but they have made trips to Nebraska, Auburn, Arkansas and played Virginia Tech in DC all within this decade. The Trojans fear no one, except maybe Oregon St. :D
And Notre Dame in South Bend every other year.

I'm penciling Texas Tech to be undefeated for their November 1 game with Texas.

They are THAT GOOD.

And they STILL haven't played a formidable opponent.

I wouldn't get into much of a tizzy over this team until they beat someone of note.

Sorry, but wins over Eastern Washington, Nevada, Southern Methodist, Massachusetts and Kansas State just don't impress me at all.

When a team goes up 13-0, they usually build on it instead of just resting on it.

Even in their wins, they didn't look too good.

What really annoyed me about Auburn was that they were ranked ahead of Auburn, BYU, Texas and Texas Tech in the preseason top 25.

In their losses they didn't look good? A wins a win in my book.

Auburn thrives on great defense. I realize the wins aren't as pretty as some of the wins by the Big 12 teams, but Auburn doesn't exactly have a cupcake schedule like Texas Tech either.

They went toe to toe with #6 LSU and lost in the end. They beat a talented Tennessee team and lost to unbeaten Vanderbilt. I wouldn't say this team is as overrated as you claim by any stretch.

I like it!

Should be a nice weekend at the State Fair. Lots of OU fans entering their girlfriends in the pig race I'm sure.

Back at ya! :p:up

Texas leads the all-time series 57–40–5, with a 45–36–4 edge in Dallas, although Oklahoma has won six of the last eight meetings. Four of the last eight showings featured one of the participants in the Bowl Championship Series National Championship Game (2000, 2003–2005), including national titles won by Oklahoma in 2000 and by Texas in 2005.

well since this is the week that starts the big 12 kill off
i'll finish up the picks for you :)

and i'll place the teams like this even though Oklahoma is probably the best all around team
Oklahoma Vs Texas = Texas
Oklahoma Vs Texas Tech = Oklahoma
Oklahoma Vs Oklahoma State = Oklahoma
Texas Vs Oklahoma State = Texas
Texas Vs Texas Tech = Texas
Texas Vs Missouri = Missouri
Big 12 CG Texas Vs Missouri = Texas

if the games go this way theres a chance of two teams going 12-1 & one going 11-1 and getting left out of the BCS

clearly Oklahoma State has the toughest remaining schedule while Missouri has the easiest

I'll give the ShortHorns credit for going up to Boulder and kicking Colorado's butt. That ain't easy. Texas is NOT who I thought they were. They're better.

But since Bob Stoops arrived, when OU comes in to the game ranked higher in the polls (which is almost every year, despite Mack Brown's legendary recruiting classes), it's OU 6, Texas 2. The last time OU came in ranked #1, it was OU 65, Texas 13.

Not quite...

OK will win the shoot-out against Texas.
Texas will beat Mizzou.
OK will beat Mizzou in the Big 12 CG.

OK will get embarassed by a SEC or Pac-10 team in the national title game once again. Their only hope is to play a Big 10, ACC (yeah right) or Big East team in the title game. I think even Utah or BYU would embarass them in the big game.

Well stated!

Texas Tech will be exposed shortly for the fraud they are.

Florida played Miami earlier in the year.

Good for them, it was out of conference but they only had to cross the street.:p Hardly the same as tOSU going to USC.

Just able to talk about it now. Horribly disappointing Wisconsin loss to tOSU. Doesn't get any easier with Penn State coming this Saturday. We're looking at 0-3 in the Big Ten.

Ohio State is a different team with Wells and Pryor on the field. It would have been interesting to see them play USC with those two. Next year in Columbus, I guess.

Colorado was missing 6 lineman. While Texas looked great, their games against OU and Oklahoma State should tell more. OUs nemesis has recently been the Okies. And MIssouri's Oklahoma. Kansas needs some defense. Bowl season whoever loses the conference championship will stomp in any bowl. The winner, who knows.:D Go Buffs!

I agree. However, you may not have to wait until next year to see these two play. I can see them playing again in this years' Rose Bowl, even though that would still kinda be a home game for USC. Next year will be fun when the Trojans come to The Shoe.

I'm hoping Wisconsin plays well this week, if they can get ahead and be able to run the ball to control the clock, they will be in good shape.
They have an impressive stable of RB's.

It's possible that they play in a different bowl game in a different city, unlikely though, seeing the people that pick the games would see it as a Old Time bowl game and have them play again in the Rose Bowl.
Gets real tiring playing all these big time teams in thier home stadiums. USC, LSU (I know N.O. is not LSU's home, but it's close enough)

While I was wrong about Texas being overrated, I think their schedule is just as weak as anyone's.

EVERYONE criticizes the Red Raiders' schedule, but Texas also fills up on cupcakes, though unlike A&M, they don't choke on creampuffs.

Look at who Texas has played:

Florida Atlantic, UTEP, Rice, Arkansas, Colorado.

That's not any better. No wonder Colt McCoy's numbers are so good!

If anyone is likely to be exposed as a fraud with a soft schedule, it's the Horns.
