NCAA Championship Week

Notre Dame defeated Rutgers, 61-50.

The Irish advance, and will play West Virginia tomorrow night.

Oakland ahead of top seed North Dakota St. by 10 at the half, in the Summit championship.

I think we may have another candidate for that dreaded Tuesday play-in game next week.

Summit League- Championship Game
(3) Oakland vs. (1) North Dakota St.- 8:00 ET (ESPN2)

North Dakota St. defeats Oakland on a jump shot with three seconds left.

The Bison are going to the Big Dance for the first time ever. In fact, it was the first year they were even eligible.

MAC- First Round
(10) Eastern Michigan vs. (7) Central Michigan- 12:00 ET
(11) Northern Illinois vs. (6) Kent State- 2:20 ET
(9) Ohio vs. (8) Western Michigan- 4:40 ET
(12) Toledo vs. (5) Akron- 7:00 ET

Akron defeats Toledo in OT, 93-92 in the nightcap in Cleveland.

The Zips join Central Michigan, Kent State and Ohio as winners at the Q today.

Speaking of the play-in game, whichever #1 seed plays them should be happy.

Since the play-in game was institued in 2001, every #1 seed that faced the play-in game winner has gone to at least the Elite 8- other than Kentucky in 2004- four teams have made the Final Four- 2002 Maryland, 2003 Texas, North Carolina in 2005 and 2008- and two teams have won it all- the Terps and Tar Heels.

Do they have a decent record, or are they heading to Dayton?

UConn women destroyed Louisville to win another Big East tournament- a top-10 team no less.

Do we even need to bother holding a tournament or could anyone possibly play giant-killer?

As much as I am impressed by the likes of Auburn, Cal, Ohio State, Maryland- does this feel like an anticlimactic tournament on the female side?

Great finish to the Cleveland St.- Butler game coming up.

Man is this time of year fun or what? :)

I'm happy for HD, but this was quite a struggle for Cleveland State- the pace in that game was very slow, kind of like a UCLA game (not Big 10- this wasn't like the 39-33 game).

I am VERY surprised Butler stopped going for the three late- they are one of the few college teams that I think are really good from downtown (West Virginia, Duke, North Carolina).

BTW, let me just say- if Cleveland State draws ANY overseeded teams (UCLA, Florida State), I'll pick them.

Cleveland St. is going dancing and another bubble hopeful bites the dust!!

Congrats, Matt!!!! :)
