NCAA Championship Week

I tried to watch some of the DePaul game on Bigeast.tv but the picture quality was so bad on the site I gave up after about 30 seconds[too bad the early games couldn't be on ESPN/ESPN2].

Halftime at both games :

Illinois St. and Kent St. tied at 37.

St. John's leads Georgetown, 31-28.

Kent St. advances.....................congrats HD! :up

Wow. Heckuva game. The Flashes went on a 16-4 run to take the lead late in the 2nd half for the first time. Stout defense by KSU in the 2nd half. Reigning MAC player of the Year, Al Fisher couldn't miss down the stretch. He led the team with 25 pts.

Kent St. advances to play Buffalo. During the regular season, these two played some very intense battles! Thursday should be more of the same!

Next up: Ohio University vs. Western Michigan....

BTW, this win puts KSU at 19 wins for the season, keeping their 20 consecutive win seasons alive. If we beat Buffalo, this will be KSU's 11th consecutive year with 20 or more wins!

A few key KSU statistics:

• Kent State is one of just seven Division I programs to win at least 20 games in each of the last 10 seasons. KSU is also one of just five teams to post at least 10 conference victories during that same span.

• Since the start of the 1998-99 season, Kent State has posted a 238-89 record and is 13th nationally over that span with a .728 winning percentage.

St. Johns eliminates Georgetown.
 I've tried to stick up for Georgetown this year but they really blew it. Georgetown and ND squandered more talent than exists in the entire C-USA. Heck more than the entire Big Ten. I wonder if Greg Monroe will turn pro. What's the point of staying in college for a team that is in the NIT?

Ohio University advances! 62-55 over Western Mich.

2 down, 1 more of my games to go....

The stage is set: Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Yes, that Hinkle Fieldhouse! Ie, the fabled gym where the final scene in Hoosiers was filmed! Hinkle is never an easy place to win thanks to a rabid fan-base. And you can bet the Bulldog fans will be out in full force tonight.

This matchup will pit the 17th ranked Butler Bulldogs against the refuse-to-surrender Cleveland State Vikings for a rematch of last year's Championship. The two regular season games have been highly competitive and both were decided on the last play of the game.

You can bet CSU coach, Gary Waters will have his team ready. This is a club with five seniors who have been through it all. Butler stole their dream shot at the Big Dance last year. They don’t want that to happen again.
“We only talk about the NCAA,” Waters said. “No one says ‘NIT.’ “
Go Vikings!

I can never remember a championship week when there wasn't at least one Big East team on the bubble.

The Big East has seven locks and Providence on life support.

And they will make the NIT by the skin of their teeth.

If I'm not mistaken the Hoyas finished one game over .500, and I believe that's the prerequisite minimum to qualify.
