NCAA Basketball 2008-09 Season

I would have preferred, "Clemson is for real."

I think they are.

BTW, Boston College is 6-3 in the ACC after blowing out Virginia in Charlottesville.

Besides Tyrese Rice, I thought BC was going to royally suck this year!! Now they have 18 overall wins, and I don't remember too many (if any) ACC teams that were left out of the Big Dance with 20 wins.

Anders, judging by the way Clemson is throttling Duke, you should be thankful UNC does not have to play them on the road.

After last year, I know deep down the Tigers would beat the Heels if they played in Clemson.

Nah. we'd still take them. Ellington got them at the buzzer last year. I just love seeing dook get crushed. They have to play Miami next. I hope Jack McClinton drops 50 on them.

McClinton dropped 32 and they trounced Wake! WOW!

EDIT: Brutal stretch for The U...they have DUKE on Saturday and UNC within 5 days of that! AND, if I can get the call I just made returned....I WILL score tickets to that game against UNC on the 15th!!!!

Difference - you're just blabbing on about Pitt. :) (kidding)

Seriously - call me out - would be interested where I dropped this...

I was only kidding. But it will be interesting to see who will come to the front of the Big East and will the conference and the tournament.

I think whoever comes in first should get a #1 seed, and I'm hoping it's Pitt.

Suffice it to say, I was quite please that dook* got curbed stomped by Clemson. Wake losing helps UNC a lot too. Clemson, UNC and dook* all have 2 conference losses. Wake now has 3 losses. UNC has the tie breaker with Clemson with our victory over them in Chapel Hill. UNC doesn't have to play them in Clemson this year and as Sabres says it would be a very tough game. Clemson always play us well in Clemson but we have a very good record there.

For the dook* game, while it will be a tough game, UNC's players aren't afraid to play in Durham. In fact Tyler Hansbourgh has yet to lose at Cameron Indoor Stadium as UNC has won the last 3 UNC/dook* games played in Durham which is one of the toughest places in college basketball to win on the road. It would be nice if he can go undefeated in Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Been playing much Gears of War lately?

Yeah. That dook is nothing but a bunch of little bitches. I am so ready for next week. This is going to feel like a pin prick compared to what's in store for them next week. :D

Next week's game doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. All that will matter is how they do in the NCAA tournament. Win, lose, whatever, it won't affect their March Madness seeding much.

It just allows people to come to forums like these and talk about bragging rights.

These games always matter. Outside of winning a NC nothing is more important. And they do matter in the grand scheme of things because while both UNC and dook are locks to make the tournament only the teams in the top 10 have a realistic shot of winning it. So if dook keeps getting beat down their ranking will fall and they will be headed for another early round defeat. There's a huge difference between the teams that are just glad to be there and those that actually intend on cutting the nets down.

How hard can it be to beat Duke? Pitt beat them last year at MSG.

Exactly. Bragging rights.

Obviously this applies to every team in college basketball. A February losing streak is bad.

But back to the subject at hand, there is still an extremely good chance both Duke and NC will be 1 or 2 seeds...in which case the three times they play each other over the next six weeks won't determine anything.

The only thing that will matter in the long run is how they do in the big dance.
