NCAA Basketball 2008-09 Season

anders, It appears that you are a dedicated fan and I can feel your pain. Anyone can jump on a bandwagon, but a true fan is there for the whole ride. Terps,Irish,Ravens and Cubs. It hasn't been eay.

I was shocked this happened.

If you asked me which ACC team could deal UNC its first loss, I would have said Wake Forest, not B.C.

However, one loss doesn't kill their title chances. This isn't the BCS.

I remember that in 2005, they lost to Duke. Didn't exactly prevent them from winning it all.

You're right basketball is more fair that way so that one bad game during the regular season doesn't kill you. It would help if BC were actually any good this year, but they will probably wind up in the NIT so this will be one of the WTF losses. Fortunately Roy Williams doesn't take losing well either so I imagine the guys will be running until they puke tomorrow and then they will run some more. Serves them right.

I thought there was two places where Carolina would/could lose. And at home to BC wasn't one of them. I thought at Wake and at dook*. Those may happen but tonight we played like crap.

Hats off to BC. The played fantastic today. Carolina shot poorly from the free throw line and the 3 point line. We played poor defense on switches and did a terrible job rebounding.

Frankly we haven't played as well since the exam break as before the exam break. The last game played before the exam break was the blowout over MSU.

Also we don't look any better this year on defense then we did last year. To win the title better defense must be played. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The team is basically the same. For as great a player as Tyler is, he's average at defense. For some reason our best rebounder and post defender, freshmen Ed Davis, didn't play much in the 2nd half. I'd like to ask Roy that question.

There's a rumor that Ginyard may ask for a medical redshirt. Some people have said that won't happen but he didn't look as healthy today as he did the other two games he has played this year. He also had his leg wrapped in a way it hasn't been wrapped the last two games.

I agree with most of what you said except the part about Hansbrough not being a good defender. He's one of our best defenders. Our defense overall tonight was garbage. Rice broke those traps like no one was even there. And the free throw shooting. My God. We'd have won were it not for all those misses, not that we deserved to. Thanks for nothing Deon.

I don't believe the rumor about Ginyard. We need him in a major way. The only good that could come of this is we shouldn't be surprised if Wake gives us a game.

He didn't play much, but still he was cleared to return so it'd be weird if they shut him down so soon. I think I saw the same rumor you did, and I'm generally skeptical of those because they are always started by someone claiming to have "inside information" which is usually just they overheard something on Franklin St. When Roy speaks it's official. Until then I'll wait.

The original rumor came from somebody who has been proven to have very good sources in the past. In tonight's post game press conference Roy said: "I am concerned about Marcus (health) and he is concerned."

Something sounds up to me. I wonder if after a couple of games and some practices that the stress fracture is returning.

A day of mixed emotions for our ol buddy BillD. His BC Eagles upset the #1 team in the land and then Boston got whipped by the lowly Knickerbockers.

I thought UNC's first loss would come against Duke.

KY played terrible and still had a chance to win against Louisville.

With the UNC losing, Pitt should move to #1, but unfortunately, with how hard the play is in the Big East, they wont stay #1 for long.

Provided that Carolina can get past Wake Sun, no given after last night, and Pitt loses eventually, we could have Carolina and dook ranked 1-2 when they meet in Feb.

Unfortunately, with how good the Big East is from top to bottom, I don't see Pitt going undefeated the whole year, but it is nice to be #1 for at least some time.:)

This is the first time in Pitt BB history that they are #1.

I watched the 2nd half of Pitt's game against Rutgers and all of the G'town game and I was very impressed with the defense Pitt plays. Much more so than the defense Carolina has played since they came back from their exam break. They lost a lot of their mojo during that break.
