I just dont think you quite understand the situation. A little bit of that tip is from your statement that losing a RB is what recruiting is for. It was well known that Miami's QB is not that good, even their fans think he sucks. Duke Johnson was the star of the offense and that was also well known (backup RB is OK). While VT may not have as good a running game, the QB is no slouch. Without Duke Johnson, Miami is hampered. Is it a good win for VT? Sure. But dont mistake that their score or yardage this week has any bearing on what FSU did last week.
Im worried about two things right now:
Injuries in a tough UF game
If we end up having the privilege of Bama in the NC game, well, thats worry enough. Bama is great making second half adjustments, but so is FSU. Our defense is on right now, Pruitt is really dropping the boom, but the offense is not where Id like to see it. Vs Bama, thats an issue because they too have a quality defense. I think Winston, no matter how much everyone has propped him up on a pedestal, is still a Freshman. Thats a mark against us. While he will pretty much handle every other team we have left, he will have not faced something like Saban's team.
Bama of course still has two tough tests left, so I agree there is a lot of football left. That being said, as each week passes and the schedule becomes soft for FSU, most people are not expecting FSU to lose (including me), which I dont see as being a homer, its just not hard to see. Any chance that I thought UF would beat us was extinguished this weekend. Rivalry games are always tough, but what you have this year is, Miami does not quite yet have the talent to match FSU (they have been hurt by the lingering sanction), but they are getting better. UF has some talent, but their offense sucks and they have lots of injuries. So even though both are rivalries, I compare them to the last two years of the iron bowl where Bama flat stomped Auburn. While its a rivalry game, Bama just had the talent and coaching, where Auburn did not (this year will be different). At the end of the day, the "rivalry" only evens the game so much. I honestly would not be surprised if Auburn wins, but I dont have a dog in that hunt. All I see right now is Syracuse, I care about nothing else. One week, one game.
To be honest its a down year for a lot of ACC teams. Im not trying to be an ass but honestly the writing is on the wall, barring injury FSU does not lose until NC game. The opponents left are weaker than they should be. Now I do see an easy possibility of a loss in NC game, especially if FSU has to play Bama. Im not sure the offense can handle that D.
