NCAA 2013 Football Season

Good move by Miami giving themselves the self imposed post season ban. I think that really helped out their cause.

Just think that if Ohio St had banned themselves from the Sugar Bowl, they could've played in the BCS title game last year.

DOUBTFUL...
More than likely they would have had both seasons without.

I disagree, but we will never know. I for one am glad about it. Probably more so than osu fans. Lol.

Thats not how the NCAA works when it comes to OSU, if you remember, at the time OSU was the ONLY team being probed, that was long before all these other teams incidents came to light.

The NCAA made the investigations against OSU every day news, theres no way they would have allowed OSU to only take the 1 yr ban.

A self ban for the post season would have done wonders.

I get how the NCAA worked. If you recall , and most don't after the fact, Bama has been hit with the most sever sanctions in the past few decades.

Imo opinion, and many from the boards I frequent, osu messed up by taking a bowl when they shouldn't have.

Many osu fans don't agree, but most everyone else does.

Everyone else didn't have the NCAA living on campus daily ... they were the only one being targeted.

Bama was quite awhile ago, not in the same time frame or even close afaik.

The NCAA has a history of going lighter on schools that punish themselves early, and not try to avoid punishment.
Miami is no different than when Georgia's Basketball team got hit with the "How many points in a 3-point Basket" fiasco. Georgia fired the coach and pulled their 1st place in the SEC team out of the SEC & NCAA tourney and reduced scholarships. The NCAA accepted the punishment and moved on.

Ohio St. on the other hand tired to dodge any punishment and lied to the NCAA investigators. They also allowed Tressel to resign instead of firing him with cause. As a result, the NCAA banned them from the post season and slapped Tressell with a show cause.

Fess up to the NCAA and punish yourself early, and the NCAA will left you off lighter every time. If Ohio St. had banned themselves that year, they would have had a chance to play Notre Dame last year.

Which would have been a travesty. Notre Dame had no dam reason being in that game in the first place.
Undefeated season with beating 4 ranked teams. I disagree, they earned their way there, especially since there weren't any other (eligible) undefeated teams. And I don't see any of the 1-loss teams having a valid argument to jump over them.

There is no way the body of work matched that of Alabama. Not even close. Even with 1 loss. Call it sec bias or whatever, I mean we did see them completely man handled by Alabama.

And yet we saw Florida man handled by Louisville, but I'm sure the Florida faithful probably feel they should have been in the BCS game against Alabama instead of Notre Dame.

But unless you take care of business in the regular season (which the Irish did, and everyone else did not), then you have no valid complaints about not making it into the big game. And we can't say the Irish had a slack schedule, they did defeat 4 ranked teams, same number as Alabama. Sorry, but if Oregon hadn't have lost (or Ohio St. hadn't been on probation), then Alabama wouldn't/shouldn't have been in that game.

Remember that Miami gave up TWO bowls and the ACC championship... that was punishment enough.

Absolutely not we didnt even make the SECCG we were put where we deserved. I was shocked we even made it where we did with our inept offense last year...

I know more than a few gator fans that thought they should have been considered, probably based on the previous years different circumstances.

Last year obviously there were more deserving teams as you say.

They gave up two bowls, they didn't give up no ACC Championship. They did however NOT play for it but there was no 100% sure thing that they would have won.

They were eligible to play for the ACC Championship last year because North Carolina was under sanctions. That is why GT played and no the U. SMH...

Correct but you said they gave up two bowls and the ACC Championship - you should have said gave up a "chance" to play for the ACC title. ;)
