I'm not for or against bye weeks really. I don't like them on weeks that bama isn't playing, but I can see them being useful for numerous reasons, not all are even athletic related. I guess I just didn't see the big deal here, and it may have even been dictated by the conference because of league play and scheduling.

It looks like the big ten is finally trying to be more competitive on all fronts now, and doing away with some built in disadvantages. Good for them.

I also can't understand why the NFL has to have a bye week at week 4 of the season, but they've done it for awhile now.
They stretch it out from week 4 thru week 12 .... now THATS ridiculous.

I have to say that I'm proud of what VT did last week.... looking forward to the special teams corrections this week which will happen.

To pretty much dominate the front lines of Alabama mostly on defense was amazing to watch, the secondary was just beyond great. Ohh and don't get me started on that QB for Florida State....that kid is just amazing at least for last nights game, looking forward to see what he does against Miami's defense.

The Big Ten is FINALLY allowing a week off during the season...
OSU has two bye weeks, one before the Iowa game and one before Illinois. Looks like all Big10 teams have two byes this season. Last season they all had 1.

Correct.

Like I said, they are finally scheduling like the rest of the country ...
However they still end the season Thanksgiving weekend, then the B10 Championship game, which I think still makes them ending thier season earlier than the other major conferences.

Actually, the only major conference that i see that plays beyond that weekend is the big 12, and they don't have the conference champ game.

There may be the odd man game scheduled occasionally, but in recent past at least, the sec wraps up it's regular season on thanksgiving weekend as well. Then the championship game is a week or two later.

Have to have time off sometime ?

Why ?

Why can't teams play 12 weeks in a row ?

Most teams have done that for years, thats why the Big Ten ends thier season the week before Thanksgiving (previously) ... thus the SEC takes a few weeks off each year and end thier season 2-3 weeks before the championship game ... thats a HUGE advantage in the over all scheme of things.
Why? Because the SEC (and ACC for that matter) have traditionally schedule their big in-state rival for Turkey Weekend. Since Football season starts on Labor Day, that results in a bye week. Back when it was an 11-game season, there was 2 bye weeks.

and still lost by 25!!
Sorry. Someone had to say it:)

Well yeah can't ignore the end result of the score - but as someone else quoted the 2009 stats as dominating I'll point out the same thing in this game. Stats shows worlds here with some special team screw up's that helped to seal the deal. I'm happy with the results of the game in general and expect to see a really good team this year regardless.

Maybe it's the Championship game I'm thinking of that runs later.

I think the Big Ten Championship game is the next week .... I would prefer it to be 2 weeks later.

The Big 8 wrapped up Thanksgiving weekend until the Big 12 was formed and then it went later with the Big 12 Championship game and now with 10 members and 9 conference games, the league has just added an extra bye week and made the last week of the season still coincide with the SEC, PAC12 and Big 10 championship games.

They just about have to to stay on the radar without a champ game. Smart scheduling.

I remember awhile back when the Big Ten would end thier season the week before Thanksgiving and like msmith said, you have to stay on the radar, they would be done and watch other conferences play 2 more games after they are done and ya know the voters, not seeing them in so long had to have some kind of influence.

Wow. Western Kentucky 5 offensive plays/5 turnovers in a row!

I am very much ready for the Jeff Driskel era to end. Good thing our defense is solid. We may even pull this off despite our horrid offense.

When your defense holds a team on the road in a big rivalry game to only 14 points and you still lose you have some serious issues on offense....
