NCAA 2009-2010 The Bowls

Can't you count to two? Was an important part of the MNC team in 2006. 1st player to win the Heisman as a true sophomore, only player to be a finalist for that award 3 times. All time leader in rushing TD's, Total yards and pass efficiency in the history of the SEC. But, yeah besides that he is no JaMarcus Russel:rolleyes:
What a stupid comment. Jamarcus Russel was an idiot with an arm.

Take off the Gator glasses for a second and read my post again. My point is that some media and fans hype him as the best college player that ever was (look at Smith's post after your's). That's simply not true. If he was the greatest QB ever, how did he lose to LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, Bama - all at the level of Florida at the time? After his sophomore year, why didn't he win another heisman. Because there were better players that year.

Tebow was an outstanding college football player, but the hype this kid has gotten has been way overblown, pure and simple. And yeah, I can count to two. I can also remember that the starting QB for Florida in 2006 was Chris Leak. But you don't hear much about him when counting Tebow's championships, do you?

They announced during yesterdays Capitol One game that they were spending $1.6 million to install artificial surface before next year. That doesn't correct the problems of this year though. No stadium should ever have 2 bowl games withing 4 days on a field that is not artificial.

Let's hope they go through with it. That field was crap. When your team doesn't have a QB worth squat, it's a death sentence.

Not sure if that's Tebow worship, or Florida bigotry.

Not really hype on my part, I simply think he is one of the best, if not the best in the college game ever. I think his stats, and accomplishments speak volumes to back that up.

On top of that, its not just stats that make me think this. Its his drive to win, and how he pushes his team mates. He is a leader pure and simple, and all of that together is the basis for my opinion.

Of course not all will agree.

I hear Florida fans give Leak credit all the time, but they also include Tebow in the discussion for that championship, because he was part of the team, and a very important part at that. No need to bring anything else into it IMO., a

I hype his as that, because I honestly think he is one of, if not THE best in the college game, ever. Not all will agree for sure, but his stats and accomplisments speak for themselves.
So do a lot of others in the past, sans hype. ;)

Good luck to the Tide Thursday. You going to California?

Well, it could be done, and the turf could be in decent shape, but didnt they recently lay new sod before these games? That coupled with the weather is where they messed up. If they needed a new surface they should have done it with sufficient time for it to take hold.

What about Archie Griffin. His stats and accomplishments were just as great as Tibow's if not better for the time.

I edited my post before you replied. Sorry.

Thanks:up

Nah, id love to, but why spend several thousand bucks when I can have a better seat at home:)

Generally, unless it is a team or coach that I may never see again (Penn State in tusc. next year), I go to the gimme games at BDS. The big games I can follow better from the couch and it doesnt cost me as much.

Im not taking anything away from him with my statement. He would probably be up there in the elite list as well. The team did not win a NC while he was there though If I am not mistaken

That's what happened. I don't remember the field being this bad before. But, if you're hosting a New Years day bowl you need to be prepared for the weather. Artificial turf is what they need. They're lucky there weren't some pretty serious injuries on that field this week.

You're right. I apologize and have edited my post.

You are right. If they plan in hosting games that close together in an area that sees a good deal of rain, they should prepare and install turf. It wasnt safe as it was.

That's what I'm talking about. The overhype machine goes on and on no matter who the player is. Some live up to it in ways, some don't. But none of them can possibly live up to the status the media places them at these days. It's ridiculous.

What about Jay Cutler?

 As a college QB, at Vandy no less, Cutler had a good career.

Snead comes in with little playing experience, hyped to no end, has one DECENT ( read, several subpar games, then a few great ones) season and this year he is a Heisman candidate? I never really saw it. Still dont.

Hmm, IMHO, Tebow is one of the best, if not flat out the best, college football player that has played the game. I say that as a fan of a Rival SEC team.

He was an important part of the first national championship, led the team to the second, had a couple of conference titles, won the heisman as a true sophmore, set numerous records in the conference and bowl games, all the while he had opposing defenses set up to stop mainly him.

Whether he makes it at the next level, not many have competed in the college game at the level he did. JMHO.

I agree about the cap one bowl though. That field was horrible.

While I agree with most of what your saying, till here:
all the while he had opposing defenses set up to stop mainly him.

Referring to LAST year here.
He had a WHOLE lot more than just HIM going for them last year .....
They had NFL players on the field all over last year ... some this year as well, but more last year.

My point is, he didn't do it by himself.

One thing I like about Tim, is he's very gracious, he gives redit to all of those that helped out and is NOT a ME Me guy.

I like that about him. :)
