NBA Basketball 2009-10 Season

From Michael Lee's (Washington Wizards Beat Writer) Twitter:

“Now who is going to apologize to the fans?”

Lol! On one end, I appreciate our bitter rival helping us out by shipping Jamison our way, but geesh, tough times in Wizard land. That team has now been officially blown to bits!

Just thought of something...

In the past year, Ferry has essentially turned Sasha Pavlovic, Ben Wallace and a first round pick into Shaq and Jamison!? Wow.

Two years ago, he turned Damon Jones and Joe Smith into Mo Williams!

Danny Ferry for Exec of the Year!

Tracy McGrady, Kevin Martin on the Move!

The Houston Rockets have unexpectedly emerged from their long-running efforts to trade Tracy McGrady with an agreement in place to acquire coveted guard Kevin Martin from the Sacramento Kings, ESPN.com has learned.

Multiple sources told ESPN.com that the Rockets and Kings will spend Thursday trying to make this a three-way deal that lands McGrady with the New York Knicks, who have been McGrady's preferred destination ever since he and the Rockets mutually agreed in late December to find the 30-year-old a new team via trade.

Flashback to 1989

In 1989, the Cavs traded high-scoring guard Ron Harper, two first-round draft picks and a second-round pick to the LA Clippers for Danny Ferry. The Cavs turned around and signed Ferry to a 10-year contract.

Ferry never amounted to what the Cavs had hoped during his playing days. The front office was highly criticized for that move and some say by losing Ron Harper, we also missed out on a potential Championship in Richfield Coliseum.

Fast forward 21 years later and Ferry is now our GM. During his tenure, he's made some stunning moves and made some notable draft picks. Perhaps he's trying to make up for all the lost expectations from his playing days?

Either way, the Ron Harper for Danny Ferry trade is FINALLY looking better by the day! Ferry for Exec of the Year!!! :D

The HEAT will more than likely sitout this trading deadline and go after THE biggest fish that is REALLY available....Chris Bosh. MUCH better fit for the HEAT and they will have to give up nothing for just waiting till the summer.

Probably a wise move. If your team was to sign Amare, they wouldn't have enough money (cap-space) to also pay Dwayne Wade and another max-contract free agent.

HD,

Have you heard/do you know where this trade leaves the Cavs capwise for this summer? Assuming we resign Lebron and don't resign Shaq, will we have any money to play with?

Isn't it nice to FINALLY have an owner who spends money and is willing to acquire expensive talent at a trade deadline? :)

Where are you getting that? Because Wade's orignal contract is with the HEAT, they absoletly have enough to sign Wade AND a big ticket free agent. And one of ONLY two teams to have that cap flux.

I just did some hunting around and do not think now that Amare is worth a #1 and Beasley when Beasley is a younger version of Amare, but much cheaper. Amare is soft and his number will actually soften playing the more physical Eastern Conference.

That's not what I said. I said IF you signed Amare, you wouldn't ALSO be able to sign Wade AND another big-ticket free agent. Amare would be your free agent ticket. Might as well wait for a better one.

I agree. Amare has a history of serious injuries. I'm confident in what has transpired. Looks like Miami and Cleveland were too.

I don't know the numbers exactly, but we won't have much extra money to spend in the offseason, if any (besides the money we can use to resign LeBron that is).

PS. This was another good reason to take Jamison over Amare. Jamison's contract is for 2 more years. Amare would've been gone after this season.

Amare is soft when it comes to defense, but not the rest of the game. However, this is one of the reasons I said adding Amare to the Heat would not make them an instant championship contender...do you still believe that it would? ;)

They'll be over the cap, already. Counting zero for Shaq and Ilgy, and counting Lebron's plaer option price of $17 million, they were at $50 million for next season, so Jameson's $13 million by itself puts them well over $60 million. They can add a "mid level exception" player, but doing anything else would require a lot of difficult maneuvering.

I take back my comments and agree. They would not become a contender for the title....but that would put them in just below the Cleveland/Boston class and in the Orlando class.

Cavs Press Conference Highlights

Jamison is in town, but still has a few medical clearances to pass and papers to sign before he's inserted in the lineup, meaning he won't play tonight, but possibly tomorrow against Charlotte.

Shaq says he's happy to get Jamison, sad to see Z go. "He became a friend to me, a best friend."

A bittersweet day at The Q. Empty frames all over the place that used to hold Z pics. But plenty of excitement over Jamison.

Mike Brown says he can see playing Jamison at small forward and LeBron at shooting guard in a big lineup at times.

Danny Ferry got a little choked up talking about having to trade Ilgauskas.

When asked about picking Z back up if the Wizards buy his contract: Ferry: "Z is part of the Wizards organization. To get something good, you have to give up something good."

Mike Brown: "Not sure whether Jamison will start or he'll be a 6th man". My guess is he won't start at first, but will ease him in over time.
