NBA Basketball 2009-10 Season

What's with Birdman's hair? He looks like an entirely different person. He traded in his gelled-up mohawk for a Shaggy Rogers mop top, while also sporting a flesh colored gotee. It looks like he's aged 30 years overnight!

The new Cowboys Stadium.

All Star Saturday will be at the AAC.

(BTW, Salsa, did you ever get to cover an NBA All Star Game when you worked for SportsChannel?)

While Jerry Jones and Mark Cuban are pressing for a 100,000+ crowd, the Dallas Fire Marshall's recently said the building is only safe for around 90,000. Either way, this has the potential to be the largest crowd to watch a basketball game, EVER! Should be a tremendous atmosphere!

Everyone made a big deal about when the Cavs started out 2-2 at home after last year's insane 39-2 dominance .

Well, since that close call against Chicago in early November- a 1-point game, BTW- they have gone 21-1 at the Q (that came against a not-bad Charlotte team, not a team like the Nets or Timberwolves).

The Cavs improved to a "mere" 24-3 at home.

Again, this is why I don't overreact to early-season games.

Even more eerie....

The Cavs were 43-11 before last year's All-Star break.

This year, the Cavs are also 43-11, but even more impressive since they've been without key players for an extended period of time due to injuries and the new additions took time to gell early on. Trust me when I tell you, this team hasn't even hit it's full potential yet. There is still room for improvement.

Only people who are new to following basketball made a big deal out of it. :D

Off until next Thursday night! What a way to go into the All-Star break!

The Cavs are now 6-0 against the Magic, Lakers and Hawks.
I'm amazed at what this team has done so far this year. With the way they're currently playing, I wish the All-Star break would go away.

Wouldn't you think the NBA would have planned better and not scheduled all-star weekend during the opening weekend of the winter olympics? 2 weeks ago would have been perfect. The only major event they would have been up against was the NFL Pro Bowl.

6. Salsa, what is going on with Miami? They seem to be a step slower than they were a year ago. D-Wade doesn't have as many 40-50 point games as he had last year.

They are THE Jekyll and Hyde team of the NBA. Wade MIGHT be taking a page out of Shaq's book of just basically be on cruise control the 1st 3 quarters of the season and turn it up a notch for the playoff run. Like always, it ALWAYS depends on the match-ups.

When we saw him the other night we were hysterical! We couldn't decide if he included a haircut or not in his radical change, but either way you're right, he does look like a different person.

Still a very effective player in his own way, however.

As I stated various times in this thread...Miami is hot after Stoudemire too. TV and radio down here states they are offerring Adonis Haslem and a #1. Miami's offer is better because they will end up with a better #1 and they are getting one of the top 15 or 10 power forwards in the league.

..BUT...Miami and Cleveland are not the only ones....

The Celtics and Wizards are rumored to be discussing a blockbuster with the names Ray Allen, Caron Butler and Antwan Jamison mentioned.

Whatever happens, Danny realizes he NEEDS to make SOME move......................

Allen gets $19.7 for this season only and comes off the 2010 books. Butler is about $10 million for this year and next, and Jamison gets $11.6, $13 and $16 million over the next three years. Throw in Scalabrine, and the salaries are even. In fact, it can be done without Scalabrine because the salaries don't have to exactly match.

Wizards 2010-2011 cap figure at present is $53 million. By jettisoning Butler and Jamison while picking up maybe Scalabrine, they save $21 million. Voiding Arenas's $18 million leaves a 2010-2011 payroll of just $14 million, but with NO TEAM LEFT. Is Washington, DC a desirable enough destination to attract two superstars, two solid other starters and a mid-level exception guy to all sign up for a pig-in-a-poke? I don't think so. $40+ million in cap space would allow a New York or Los Angeles team to instantly reload, but it would be more difficult to do in Washington. It would take another year in Washington, or another deal in which they trade Allen for two role players to a team that wants to add cap room for 2010-2011.

The Celtics, which have an $85 million payroll for this year and a 2010-2011 cap figure of $63 million would see their payroll for 2010-2011 go up to $87 million, which strikes me as reasonable for the team they would be putting on the floor.

From what I hear, the dunk contest was one of the worst ever. Thank God I didn't stay home to watch it. Instead I went to a dive bar to feast on a gourmet hot dog topped with peanut butter, bacon, chimchuri Brazilian sauce and potato chips. :hungry:

Stoudemire is a very streaky player. His work ethic is often questioned. I'd much rather pursue a Antawn Jamison.

It is much easier to integrate a "grunt" type player like Jameson than a flashy one like Stoudemire. Teammates have to get out of Stoudemire's way when he attacks, which requires knowledge of that player and integration of him into an offensive flow that is very difficult to accomplish in 30 games, and needlessy risky to a team tht already wins about three-fourths of its games.

Great NBA All Star Game- fun game with a dramatic ending.

The game MVP was D-Wade (Hopefully for Salsa, this lessens some of the sting from Syracuse losing)

the biggest joke ever is the player of the decade as voted by the fans on TNT. The fact that Shaq is behind LeBron is a JOKE. The fact Kobe won it over Shaq and Duncan in a BLOWOUT is a JOKE! The fact that Shaq didn't win, PERIOD, is a JOKE! The fact that it wasn't a competition between Duncan(4 rings, dominant) and Shaq(4 rings, DOMINANT!), is a JOKE!
