NBA Basketball 2009-10 Season

^You could brag if it was against a team that was remotely MEDIOCRE. There is no reason to brag after playing the Clippers ;)

Not to boast or anything, but last night, I witnessed probably the most dominant quarters of basketball ever....

In the first quarter of the Cavs/Clippers game, the Cavs had 46 pts and were 11 for 13 from 3 point land (tying an NBA record).... all in the first quarter!! All of this with 2 starters on the bench (Mo & Delonte) and with Leon Powe still rehabbing.

While the Lakers/Celtics stole some of the spotlight yesterday, the Cavs silently won their 8th straight. The scary part... this team hasn't even hit their peak yet. Better basketball is still achievable. Buckle up boys and girls. The second half is going to be a fun one indeed! Weeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

How many years are we going to have to hear this? When is this "peak" actually going to result in a championship?

When is the showboating going to pay off?

Don't worry man, the team with the best regular season record is clearly the best team. We learned that last year!

I said prior to the season starting that this year is Championship or bust. Anything less and it'll be a huge disappointment.

AND if he does not win THIS year....he is as good as gone! He will more than likely never have as a complete squad as he has now. With free agency and owners looking to save face by trading contracts that have lived passed their usefulness(is that even a word? LOL!)....days of nucleus like the Bulls of the '90s are LONG gone.

Why would LeBron leave? And for who?

The Knicks are terrible, the Nyets are beyond horrendous.

LeBron is hellbent on winning a championship- these teams won't be in title contention for 10-15 years.

Why would he stay when for the last two years, the Cavs have had the best team on paper and they have yet to show anything for it. And who said he would go to the Knicks or Nets? Their are other teams that are close AND have the money to sign a big name free agent.

But my point is not about whether he wants to leave. I am POSITIVE he wants to stay, but why would he stay with a team that gets better very year ON PAPER and there is nothing to show for it. Jordan's teams where NOT championship caliber until they beat the Pistons...and Jordan KNEW that. After that, there was no stopping them because every year they would tweek that team to improve their weakness. The Cavs have done the same....but have won 0 NBA championships.

I believe evey single Cavs KNOWS that if they do NOT win it ALL or AT LEAST show well in the NBA Finals....'Elvis will leave the building'....:(

And, why are those teams so 'terrible' and 'horrendous'?? Clearing out cap space to put yourself in a position to sign top free-agents, that's why.

Also, look around the league. It takes a lot less than 10-15 years to improve your team. Look at the Celtics metamorphosis of a few years ago.

The Knicks are terrible...

The Knicks have $27 million in salary cap commitments for next year, but $11 million of tha is Curry's player option and another $7 million is Jeffrey's player option, and they can buy out either of those, meaning they can have nearly $50 million to spend. They can buy a championship nucleus for that price, and in doing so, become a desirable destination for a mid-level exception player as well.

Like LeBron, I will not be a part of any more speculative conversation about his future contract. I'm just taking it day by day and enjoying the present moment.

Don't let these guys bother ya.

Anyone claiming to know if this happens Lebron will leave, if that happens Lebron will stay, is just throwing in their two cents...and that's about all it's worth. It's just their opinion, nothing based on fact, and like salsadancer says, opinion are like a$$*****...everybody has one. ;)

Since Lebron isn't talking about it, nobody has the slightest clue what he's thinking.

I heard he might retire at the end of the year. ;):D

I just looked at Cleveland's salary cap situation for next year, and it is not good. Shaq and Ilgauskas(SP) are being paid $31 million this year, and even without those salaries, the Cavs still have a payroll commitment of just over $50 million, meaning they can't even buy one good center for that price. I don't think the exact cap figure for next year has been set, but I doubt it exceeds $60 million, so all they can do is re-sign a 38 year old Shaq, and then buy a back-up center using their mid-level exception of $5 to $6 million, which means he won't be as good as Ilgauskaas, and a 38 year old Shaq won't be as good as a 37 year old Shaq. Cleveland's window of opportunity is about to slam shut.

Thank you for your concern, but Cleveland isn't hinging their future on a 37-year old Shaq and a 35-year old Zydrunas Ilgauskas. If anything, the "window of opportunity" is shutting on those two dinosaurs, not the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Not to mention the days of the slow, prodding, 7 foot plus center is becoming a thing of the past.

Plus, we have all sorts of young talent waiting to see playing time once the opportunity presents itself. And btw, the trade deadline hasn't passed yet. There is still a possibility we trade away one of those expiring contracts....

Fun with Numbers

9. The Cavs won their 9th game in a row last night.
10. The win against Memphis made the Cavs a perfect 10-0 against Western Conference teams at home this season.
20. The Cavs are now 20-3 at the Q.
6. Last night, the Grizz lost their 6th straight at the Q.
15. LeBron James tied a career mark in assists last night by dishing out 15 assists! Selfish this man is not!
19. Cleveland has won it's past four games by 19 or more points.

And without a doubt, the highlight of the night was a nasty chase down block by LeBron on OJ Mayo.

I'd like to title this the: "Hold the Mayo".....

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcf0rne-FpU"]YouTube- LeBron James Block on OJ Mayo HD[/ame]

and if the NBA eventually takes down the above YouTube clip, it also made NBA.com's "block of the night". See here....

I like to bust HD about Lebron as much as the next person, but I've never said with any authority that I believe he's coming to the Knicks, staying in Cleveland, or anything in between.

Unfortunately for HD, merely stating the fact that the Knicks have enough cap room to fit Lebron sends him into a tizzy...:D

Locker room issues in Boston?

Are there issues growing behind closed doors in Boston? Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo hinted after last week's loss to the Atlanta Hawks that some changes needed to be made in the Boston locker room.

"We gotta make a change and do something about it quick," Rondo said after the Hawks capped a four-game season sweep of the Celtics on Friday at Philips Arena. "Not a trade or anything, but just making some changes in the locker room, amongst ourselves. Every guy has to look in the mirror and hold themselves accountable."

Asked to elaborate on his thoughts this week, Rondo went further, suggesting to the Boston Herald that some players might have individual agendas.

"I can't really elaborate on it too much, but I think we've just got to be a team with no agendas," Rondo told the paper. "We've got to play unselfish, you know? That's on defense and offense. You've got to want the best for the next man out there regardless if you're in the game playing well or you're out of the game not playing well."

The Celtics have lost 11 of their past 20 games. In the offseason, they traded for a notorious clubhouse cancer in Rasheed Wallace. I wonder if he has anything to do with the bad vibes in the Celtics locker room?
