NBA Basketball 2009-10 Season

Even so, if your Heat gets right, they can be a very dangerous #7 seed.

They have shown that they can play with the big boys. But they have also whown they can't WIN against the big boys. I mean in a one game playoff, anything is possible. But the NBA does not play one game playoffs.

Geesh. Why do you have to be all "realistic". I was just trying to keep it positive for you. :D

I am always realistic.....I can no longer think or opin with my heart. Being a Raider, HEAT, 'Cuse basketball, The U football, Marlins/Reds fan.....heart broken WAY too many times to think any other way.:(

It's hard to believe what has happened to the Pistons.

They have the third-worst record in the East and look like they don't have a shot at making the playoffs.

If Detroit continues to struggle like this over the next few years, the Allen Iverson trade might become the NBA equivalent of the Herschel Walker trade in terms of how it affected two teams in two different ways.

Oh no, you did NOT just go there!!! :D

In light of Hickson's combination of a posterizing dunk and a "GET THAT WEAK STUFF OUTTA HERE!" style block from last night, I thought of how far Hickson has come with the Cavs since the draft, when HD had this to say:

If you've read my previous posts, you know I was away from the TV and attended the Indians game last night, so I didn't have the opportunity to inflict MAJOR damage to my plasma when the Cavs announced their pick at #19!

Instead, I called the wife in between innings to find out who the Cavs drafted. Good thing I was in good graces and had a few brews in me at the time, otherwise I would've chucked the cell phone in the direction of David Dellucci! (Why is this guy DH-ing btw? Dude has the worst batting average on our team at .219!)

Anyways, the convo went as follows:

HDMM: Hey, hun. Who'd we get?

Mrs: You're not going to like this. Are you sitting down?

HDMM: Who is it?!!!

Mrs: JJ Hickson

HDMM: WHO!!!

Mrs: JJ Hickson

HDMM: Who the F*#@ is that!!!!

Mrs: He's a Freshman forward from NC State.

HDMM: Give me his specs.

Mrs: 19 yrs old, 6'9", 240lbs, described as a "project". Will not contribute right away, it will take a few years until he contributes.

HDMM: Were any of the following still available before our pick: Brandon Rush, Roy Hibbert, Courtney Lee, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Mario Chalmers, Marreese Speights, Darrell Arthur, or Kosta Koufos?

Mrs: Yup. Everyone except Rush, Hibbert and Speights.

HDMM: Someone took Hibbert?! Damn, I wanted him bad!

end of convo..........

So to summarize, GM Danny Ferry pretty much ignored the ONE main criteria for this draft and that was to get someone who was ready to contribute immediately! Our window will close in 2 years if LBJ leaves. We need to show him we can win now or risk losing him and our franchise when he becomes a free-agent after the 2010 season!!!!

Great job Danny Ferry. Let's hope you make it up by bringing another legitimate player to our team before next year. We can't just sit on our existing team and hope for more success. We need another contributor on offense. The season hasn't started so I guess the verdict is still out, but I am NOT happy with this pick at all.

LMAO! Woah. Great blast from the past Sabres!

I admit, I am plesently surprised with Hickson's progress so far. He was very raw when we drafted him, but he's showing great growth in his two years here. I guess that's why Danny Ferry is a GM for an NBA team an I'm sitting here as an anonymous online sports critic. :( :D

Campaign to Keep LeBron Hits Fever Pitch Tonight!

A local campaign to keep LeBron in Cleveland will be underway in it's fullest tonight at the Q as the Cavs take on the NY Knicks.

Two Cleveland fans have organized a campaign with the web site, pleasedontleave23.com. The group has a red foam character shaped like Ohio wearing a sad face...

His name is Glibert and he drives around town in the "Witness Mobile"....

Anyways, he'll be passing out 15,000 "Gilbert" masks with printed instructions to hold them up at the beginning of each quarter. The face represents anxiety and is supposed to show how devastated fans will be if LeBron leaves.

Basically the idea is to convince LeBron that no place loves him more than Cleveland.

Well, the masks worked.

P.S. It seems like Cleveland has owned New York in head-to-head matchups- the Cavs have owned the Knicks in recent years (especially LeBron, who has had some monster games against them), the Indians beating the Yankees in the ALCS (plus the two butt kickings to open up new Yankee Stadium), and the Browns over the Giants on Monday Night Football in 2008.

I am utterly speechless after last night's performance by the King. Especially the first quarter where he scored 23! At one point, he accounted for 24 consecutive points scored by the Cavs. Some of the 3's he was making were closer to the half-court line than the 3-point line!

PS. Add Buffalo to your list of "Cleveland owning NY teams" examples...

Is accounting for 24 consecutive points for the team really a GOOD thing? I think it shows how pathetic the rest of the team was at the time. The game Kobe did it in 02-03 showed why the Lakers sucked ass that year - there was no team.

Not really. LeBron was in a zone and couldn't miss. For that reason, he was fed the ball on each possession.

Yeah....no kidding. Watched it WAY too much when the Bulls had Jordan.

From ESPN.com:

News: Iverson could get moved to a bench role when he returns to the team, the Philadelphia Daily News reports.

Spin: Iverson has missed the Sixers last three games while attending to his ill daughter. During that time, the Sixers have won all three of their games without Iverson. Willie Green has started at shooting guard in Iverson's place, and the team has improved their defensive efficiency as a result. Coach Eddie Jordan would not say whether or not Iverson would regain his starting role when he returned.
