NBA 2008-09 Season

Surprisingly close win for the Cavs over the Knicks.

You call it close, I call it a better defensive effort.

Last night, Cleveland ended New York's 26-game streak of scoring at least 100 points.

Oh and that boring ol' LeBron James.... He came 2 rebounds short of recording his 4th triple deuce in 5 games! (19 pts, 10 ast, 8 reb, 4 stl, 3 blk).

Race for the East

Also of not over the weekend...... The Magic close to within 1/2 game behind the Celtics for the #2 seed in the East. The Cavs widen their margin on the #1 seed by a whopping 3.5 games over the Celtics.

Relocation Coming to the NBA?

From the Boston Globe....

According to an NBA executive, there is growing concern inside the Kings organization that if their arena issue isn't resolved, they could end up moving to Anaheim. Anaheim has been hoping to get an NBA team for years, has filled its arena for Lakers exhibition games and Clippers regular-season games, and could attract fans from as far south as San Diego. The Lakers and Clippers, however, could challenge for territorial rights fees, and it could be hard for the Kings to find a spot on television in LA, too. The financially strapped Pacers, who reportedly have lost $200 million since 1983, also could be on the move eventually. San Jose, Kansas City, Seattle, and Las Vegas are potential future NBA homes.

Cavs win! Cavs win! The.......... Cavs win!

LeBron from deep in the Q!!!!!!!

Critical 3 pointer by LBJ late in the 4th to the tune of "MVP" chants by the crowd.

The Cavs are now 30-1 at home. Still undefeated against the East at the Q!

If there were ever a statement game, this was it. Awesome win against the Magic.

I must say, I am truly blessed in having the privilege to watch this team night in and night out. WOW!!!!!

Mr. Cleveland finished with 43 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals. MVP what? MVP who?

On a sour note, the Cavs suffered yet another injury to Wally Z. He sprained his left knee in a collision. But yet again, someone else steps up. After all, we're a "no excuse team."

Both the Celtics and Lakers lost last night.

With 15 games to go, the Cavs now hold a 4.5 game lead in the East and a 1 game lead as the best team in the NBA for the ever important race for homecourt throughout the playoffs.

What a game! I don't think its been that loud in the Q since the playoffs last year. It was great at the end when LBJ got the crowd louder while he was shooting free-throws. I've never seen that before. :)

There's no doubt Lebron is the MVP. He took the game over on both sides of the floor....when he shot the long 3 with less than a minute to go, I was not happy with the shot selection. When it went in, I realized I need to stop doubting him.

Whats up with the Cavs in the 4th quarter lately? The defensive intensity has been unreal....Lets hope they can play like that for the entire game come playoff time.

Yeah, it's almost like they hit a switch and turn up their game when necessary. As evidenced last night, the Cavs slacked a bit in the 3rd quarter and got down by 9 at one point. Then towards the end, they buckled down, got a few defensive stops and scored on the other end to close the gap.

Pistons are hurting in a major way now. Hamilton joined Iverson and Wallace among the injured. The only upside to this will be fresh legs for those three if they make the playoffs.

Add Ray Allen, Leon Powe and Rajon Rondo (reinjured) to the injury list:

Miami will face depleted C's squad tonight

By: Mike Petraglia

A matchup with MVP candidate Dwayne Wade isn't the best medicine for any NBA team, especially not one as banged up as the Celtics. But Boston could be without several key players tonight as they host Miami at TD Banknorth Garden. Leon Powe (knee), Rajon Rondo (right ankle) and Ray Allen (hyperextended elbow) were all injured in Tuesday's 127-121 road loss to the Chicago Bulls. Kevin Garnett (right knee), Tony Allen (left thumb) and Brian Scalabrine (post-concussion) are also out. Glen Davis (right ankle) could return tonight. The Celtics do not have a shootaround today. Instead, they will get rest and treatment and hope they have enough firepower to off-set a Miami team that is 1 1/2 games ahead of Philadelphia for 5th place in the Eastern Conference. The Celtics are hanging on by a 1/2 game over Orlando for second and now trail Cleveland by 4 1/2 games for the top spot in the East.

Breaking News: Wally Szczerbiak out 2-3 Weeks!

During last night’s big win over Orlando at the Q, Cavaliers Guard Wally Szczerbiak went down with a knee injury and did not return to the game. The hope was that the Cavs could actually dodge an injury bullet, but they of course couldn’t. According to the PD’s Brian Windhorst, Szczerbiak will miss the next 2-3 weeks with a sprained left knee.

While Wally has been an extremely valuable member of the rotation all year, playing both power and small forward, the wine and gold has been in this position before. Newly benched Daniel Gibson will once again get regular time in the backcourt, as well as swingman Tarence Kinsey. Sasha Pavlovic should get deeper minutes as well.

Since the beginning of this magical season, Gibson, Pavlovic, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Ben Wallace, Kinsey, and Delonte West have all missed extended periods of time with various injuries. Yet they still managed to have the best record in the NBA at 54-13. Its a true testament to the depth that GM Danny Ferry has put together. Oh, and having a little someone named Lebron James doesn’t hurt either.

They survived the injuries to West and are surviving the Ben Wallace injury.

Tomorrow night will be another good test for the Cavs, as they face Portland.
